This has to have been the wettest season that I can remember and personally I've had enough of being wet! We had our last scheduled Ice Cream ride to Tropical Treat and unfortuneatly I forgot about it. Most of the day I keep telling myself about it and then about an hour before it I got tied up doing things and by the time I remembered it was 8pm. But we still have a couple of rides left so if you didn't ride much this year please join us for some fun and adventure. I would like to thank everyone that helped out at the Marshman Triathlon. We had a great turn out even though it was wet it was a good day. Most of the bike cyclist took it easy since the roads were wet, twisty and hilly. All went well and there were no incidents and all riders finished safely which is always a plus for all involved. The weather finally cooperated for the Chapter Picnic and we had a good turn out of people to include some old friends from Delaware. The ride through the country even with the detour was a lovely ride and we arrived back at the picnic just before the food was ready. Not to sure if we will open the picnic to Delaware next year since they won 7 of the 8 raffle baskets. They won every one except the very last one. The ride to Hawk Mountain was a good ride except the mountain was fogged in and visability was only about 100 feet so we decided not to waste our time and money and continued on. The Country store was quite a quaint little place with the old part of the store with its varible width wood floors and a little bit of everything on the shelves. Dec 8 th Christmas Banquet at Royal Manchester Golf Links 5700 Broad Rd.,Mt.Wolf, Pa. Starting at 3pm Dinner at 4pm flyer will be on the website soon. Woody -n- Jo Woodfill - Chapter Directors
ASSISTANT CHAPTER DIRECTOR Larry Staines I would like to start off with thanking everyone who stepped up and helped-out with the Marshman triathlon. The weather was terrible but that didn't stop PA-V. Once we were finished we stopped for a nice hot meal before heading home. Thank You everyone. Denny's Beer Barrel Pub ride was canceled because of Marshman but King's Bakery is back on for Oct. 20. Hawk Mt. and Wannamaker s General Store are set for Oct. 6. PA-K has a Dice Run on Oct. 13. I'm writing this on Friday, and tomorrow is our chapter picnic. It looks like the weather is going to be great. I won't be there, but I hope everyone has a great time. I'll be in the woods taking a nap, but I'll be thinking of you guys. Also, with the cooler weather the leaves will start changing and falling. When you are out riding stay alert for wet leaves. Ride safe and see you at the gathering. Larry Staines Assistant Chapter Director PA-V Oct. 2018 Exp. 8/2019

With FALL just around the corner, leaves will soon be falling, and you need to be more carefull while riding. Wet leaves can be as slippery as ice In the winter. DISTRICT DIRECTOR Fall is officially here and so is the chilly weather. We rode with PA-N (our home chapter) to Erie for lunch and ice cream at Sara s on the peninsula. When we left home it was 53 degrees, it reached a high of 60; it was a beautiful ride. With the weather changing, we need to remember to plan for the ride and that your ride will be different then it was this summer. Don t forget there are additional road hazards this time of year such as leaves, school buses and wildlife is moving around more. Stay safe and have FUN! The PA District raffle tickets have been distributed to your chapter. Hopefully, your Chapter has dispersed the tickets to you to sell. They make good Chirstmas presents, stocking stuffers or tips for wait staff. They make a great thank you to a whole list of people who help and serve you such as your mail carrier, garbage collector, lawn mower or the person that removes snow. Remember for every ticket you sell you are helping your Chapter. We are looking for two (2) chapters to step up and host All Chapters East and All Chapters West. If you need any information or if your chapter is volunteering, please give us a call. It is a great fundraiser for the chapter and the event is FUN to host.the registration form is online for the PA District Rally Ride of the Roses,May 16-18, 209 at the Wyndham Garden in York, PA. Make sure you take time to review the registration and get it in early if you plan on attending any of the special events, many of them have limited space. We already have registrations! Don t forget to book your room at the hotel.i hope you did not miss Wing Ding 40! It was a great time in Knoxville, TN with 8,090 in attendance. PA had some awards distributed to individuals in the District; pleas take some time to look at that page and see who won. Wing Ding 41 will be held in Nashville, TN at the Gaylord, August 27-31, 2019. The Gaylord is accepting reservations and can be reached at 615-889-1000; the room rate is $149/night and $10/day for parking. These are great rates and you need to make your reservation soon before the block of rooms is sold out.the big event on the calendar this month is Halloween. Watch for trick or treaters (they may be hard to see in their costume) as they run between cars to get to the next house for their treat. Remember to always ride safe! Harold and Diane Jackson Your PA District Directors ASSISTANT DISTRICT DIRECTOR Hello everyone Can you believe it 3 months till Christmas, I have no idea where the time goes. You say the riding season is almost over, but it really isn t, there is still some good riding days till Jan., they maybe a little cool but that why we have the gear, so we can stay riding. I m going to touch a little on our trip to and from Wing Ding. We had 5 couples rent a cabin in Sevierville, we all left at different times on our 2-day trip, but connected on the first day before heading to the Blue Ridge Parkway. No matter how many times you ride the Parkway, it s still beautiful, at the end there s a Restaurant called Christa s that we stopped at 3 years ago. We decided to pay them a visit again, same owner and waitress fun loving people, food is good, and we had a lot of fun and laughter. Finally getting to the cabin on our 2 nd day up the mountain, our friends the DeGeiso s were taking a trip a couple week prior to Wing Ding and decided to stop and check out the road up to the cabin. We re so glad they did, took a video and the parking in front of the cabin. He shows us the video of the road, it gave us a heads up on switchback and tight U- Turns. I decided to ride with the Etter s because they haul their trike. Even though you watch the video it just doesn t look the same as when you re on 2 wheels. Everyone did a great job. Cabin was beautiful, sunsets awesome, and the day the bears decided to visit. Horseback riding, Mountain Coaster ride. FUN VACATION. Wing Ding was FUN, we went over Friday and stayed the entire day. It took us about 1 ½ hours after we got there to start looking at the vendors, but that s OK. We kept see members from all the different Chapter, it was catchup time with lots of laughs. So much Fun Mike & Shirley Prince, PA. Asst. Directors (717) 495-5400 mikep@gwrrapav.org
PA DISTRICT EDUCATOR Hi everyone: The fall colors are some of of the riding season. the most beautiful scenery you will see during the remainder With the cold weather soon moving in I think that most of us will start thinking of what we have to do to prepare the wings for winter storage. Something you should consider doing before putting the wing away for the season is a T-CLOCK inspection. TIRES: Your tires may need rather than waiting for the spring riding season to start. to be replaced. Now would be the time to start this project CLUTCH: Check the clutch and brake reservoirs. Are they low in fluid or has the fluid turned a very dark color? If they have you should change both the clutch and brake fluid now. LUBRICANTS: How long has it been since you changed your anti-freeze. Remember your anti-freeze has been working hard to keep your engine cool and to lubricate your water pump. MAKE SURE you use the proper anti-freeze when changing, as not all types of anti-freeze will work in your Wing. OIL: You may wait until spring to change your oil but I personally do not think it is a good idea to leave the old oil in the engine over the winter because it contains acids as well as old oil has a tendency to turn to sludge as it sets and the dirt sinks to the bottom of the engine case. CABLES & CONTROLS: You should check your throttle and choke cables for smooth operation. Make sure the throttle returns with a snap and to an idle when released. The choke, if equipped, also needs to work smoothly and to return to the open position. KICKSTAND: Does your kickstand have free movement and a good spring to pull it up? Look at the switches and check the operation with the switch on. Check the center stand s return spring for smooth operation. In addition to the T-Clock inspection, you should check the battery terminals and make sure they are clean and the water level in the battery is at the proper level. If you are not going to run your motorcycle at least once a month during storage, you should put the battery tender on to keep the level of charge up to the maximum level. Last but not least you should clean up the wing, wax it and cover it for the winter storage season to protect it from dust. If you take the above precautions, you should be ready to go in the spring and have an enjoyable riding season having done your preparation during the winter season while the bike is being stored. Ride Safe and Ride Proud. Chuck & Evelyn Stone PA DISTRICT EDUCATORS DISTRICT COY COORDINATORS: As the riding season is coming to a close, in just a short few weeks, many of the Chapters have been planning for 2019. With a new year approaching, it's time to be thinking about Honoring a Chapter Couple of the Year for 2019. The New Couple of the Year Handbook has the following changes: 1. The Couple must consist of one male & one female. 2. Both must hold individual or family memberships in GWRRA. 3. The Couple must complete at least one-year membership in GWRRA. 4. A Couple may not be selected as Chapter Couple in consecutive years. If a Chapter does not have a New Couple the current Couple may continue to serve a second term. How-ever, they may only participate in the District Selection in the first year. With the New changes we encourage all Chapters to consider selecting a New Chapter Couple for 2019. Couples can only be in District Selection their First Year! Many Chapter's Honor their Couple at their Christmas Party. Surprise them with the announcement! A Couple should NOT be asked to be Couple of the Year, it's an Honor to be selected! Questions in regards to selection a Couple please contact Pat Delo District MEC at patdelo27@gmail.com or Barry & Rhonda Blyler at brwings@comcast.net. We are available to assist you in any way we can!
March of 2019 the PA District will be hosting a Couple of the Year Fun Day! Your couple will learn what it means to be Chapter Couple of the Year and meet other Chapter Couples. They will also learn about the District Selection Process that will take place at the PA District Rally in May. More information will be available. If you are an outgoing Chapter Director for 2018 and not involved in the selection of your Chapter Couple of the Year for 2019, please forward this information to your incoming Chapter Director! We look forward to a Great Year in 2019! Barry & Rhonda Blyler PA District Couple Of-The-Year Coordinators Pat Delo PA-District-Membership Enhancement Coordinators Picture s from Our PA-V Picnic
