Match No. 19 Match No. 20 FINAL HOMESTAND: The No. 8 Georgia men s tennis team (12-6, 7-1) returns to Athens for the final homestand of the 2014 regular season, set to host Arkansas and LSU at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs will take on the No. 59 Razorbacks on Friday night at 5 p.m. as part of the USTA s College MatchDay series, before turning around to face the No. 54 Tigers on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. Georgia enters the weekend tied with Texas A&M for first place in the SEC standings with four matches to play. As part of the MatchDay event, singles matches will be played first on Friday night. If the match has not yet been clinched after singles, doubles will be played using a 10-point super tiebreaker format. The first team to win two of the tiebreakers will clinch the team match. Live scoring and live video will be available on Georgiadogs.com all weekend, in addition to the Georgia Tennis Live Chat. Admission to the matches is free. SENIOR DAY FOR BRASSEAUX, PIETERS: Sunday s match vs. LSU will serve as Senior Day for the duo of Garrett Brasseaux and Hernus Pieters. The current seniors have already won a total of four SEC championships during their careers and have made two NCAA semifinal runs, with an overall record of 88-20. LAST TIME OUT: The Bulldogs lost their first match in over a month last Friday night, falling 4-1 to No. 12 Texas A&M on the road in College Station to see their nine-match winning streak come to an end. The match was delayed over two hours by rain, and was part of the USTA College MatchDay series, broadcast live on ESPN3 with singles played first and doubles only played if necessary. The Aggies were able to pull out four singles wins - coming at Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5. Georgia is now 12-6 on the season and 7-1 in SEC play, tied with TAMU for first place in the conference with four regular-season matches to go. LOOKING AT THE RAZORBACKS: Arkansas comes into the weekend with an overall record of 12-13 and 2-7 in SEC action, including a notable 4-3 win over Florida last weekend at home in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks are paced by Hall Fess 8-6 dual match record, while the 71st-ranked doubles team of Hess and Pete Thomason lead the way at 9-3. Arkansas team of Manfred Jeske and Mike Nott are also ranked, coming in at No. 37. Georgia is 24-2 all-time vs. Arkansas, including a 4-1 win last season on the road. LOOKING AT THE TIGERS: LSU enters at 11-10 overall and also 2-7 in conference play, heading to take on Tennessee in Knoxville on Friday night before continuing the trip to Athens. The Tigers are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Gators on Sunday. LSU is led by Harrison Kennedy with 11 dual match wins, while the doubles team of Boris Arias and Chris Simpson own the best record at 9-6. In singles, Simp-

Georgia is 45-14 in the all-time series after last season s 4-0 shutout in Baton Rouge. IN THE RANKINGS: Following two more wins to extend its winning streak to nine matches, the Georgia men s tennis team (12-5, 7-0) jumped three spots to No. 7 in last week s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) weekly poll. Then, after a tough loss to No. 12 Texas A&M on the road on March 28, the Bulldogs fell one spot to No. 8 this week in the poll released on April 1. In singles, Austin Smith continues to lead the way for the Bulldogs coming in at No. 18 and on a nine-match winning streak with a team-high 29 wins. He is followed by Nathan Pasha at No. 39, Ben Wagland at No. 72, Garrett Brasseaux at No. 75, and Nick Wood at No. 117. In doubles, Georgia s team of Wagland and Hernus Pieters shot up from No. 21 to No. 9. DIAZ APPROACHING ANOTHER MILESTONE: Georgia head coach Manuel Diaz - now in his 26th season at the helm - is nearing yet another career milestone. Having entered the season with 585 victories to his name, he now stands with 597 and is just three shy of the 600-win plateau. Diaz has the ninth-most wins in NCAA Division I men s tennis history, and is second all-time on that list among SEC coaches behind only Bulldog legend Dan Magill, who won 706 matches in 33 seasons from 1955-88. Only eight NCAA Division I men s head coaches in history have won 600 matches in a career. Diaz won his 500th match on March 15, 2010 against Vanderbilt, then snagged No. 550 in a 2012 dual match also against the Commodores. RECAPPING THE FALL: Georgia players won three singles titles and reached the final of another fall tournament to start the 2013-14 season. Sophomore Austin Smith led the Bulldogs with 15 wins, including seven against ranked opponents. He reached the quarterfinals of the All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., and also made the final of the SEC Fall Classic in Nashville. Nathan Pasha notched 13 wins, including titles at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships at Georgia Tech and the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens. Pasha and Smith represented UGA in the singles draw of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in New York, while senior Garrett Brasseaux was named champion of the Bulldog Scramble in November. In doubles, the team of Hernus Pieters and Ben Wagland led the team with six wins. BULLDOGS PICKED TO WIN SEC AGAIN: The No. 3 Georgia men s tennis team was tabbed to win the Southeastern Conference title in a vote of the league s 13 head coaches released Jan. 16 by the SEC office. Georgia swept the 2013 regular-season and tournament titles before advancing to the NCAA semifinals with a 26-5 (11-1) record. The Bulldogs return the top five singles players from that squad. The preseason coaches poll is compiled using a 13-12-11-10- 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 tally. Each vote counts as one point. Georgia ended with 155 total points, followed by Tennessee (137), Texas A&M (132), Kentucky (108), and Florida (105) to round out the top five. Georgia leads the SEC in overall conference titles (36) and regular-season crowns (27). COLLEGE MATCHDAY TO VISIT ATHENS THIS SPRING: College MatchDay, a nationwide series spotlighting college tennis, will visit the University of Georgia this spring, according to an announcement on Jan. 29 by the USTA. The weekly series will feature 22 matches on 18 campuses, including 10 matches live on ESPN3. The series will come to Athens for

the Georgia women s match against Missouri on March 30 and the UGA men s match against Arkansas on April 4. The Missouri match will also be shown on ESPN3, and a fan experience trailer will be on site. In addition, College MatchDay will be on site for the Georgia-Texas A&M men s match in College Station on March 28, and the match will air on ESPN3. The fan experience trailer is a 53-foot, interactive trailer where fans can engage in a number of activities before and during the match. Each MatchDay that will be live streamed will follow a unique, experimental format, as proposed by an advisory group of NCAA Division I athletic directors. Six singles matches will be played first, and once a team reaches four points and clinches the match, the remaining matches will not be completed. In the case of a 3-3 tie after the singles matches, three doubles matches - played using 10-point super tiebreakers - will be used to determine the winner. The team that wins two of the three doubles matches wins the team match. All MatchDay dual matches will count toward a team s win-loss record both overall and, if applicable, in conference. For MatchDays that will not be live streamed, the teams will not be held to the same experimental format. OOSTERBAAN JOINS BULLDOGS IN JANUARY: Michigan native Paul Oosterbaan joined the Georgia team as an early enrollee, arriving in Athens in January in time for the spring 2014 season. Oosterbaan, who stands at 6-foot-8, earned a wild card into the main draw at the 2013 U.S. Open by winning the boys 18s doubles title at the USTA National Championship earlier this year in Kalamazoo. His other wins include the Clay Court doubles, boys 16s Winter Nationals singles, Lexington grade 4 ITF singles and the USTA 18s National Open. He has been ranked as high as No. 8 by tennisrecruiting.net and was ranked No. 2 in the country in boys 16s. His father, JP, was a member of the 1989 University of Michigan men s basketball national championship team. GEORGIA TO HOST NCAA TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS AGAIN IN 2017: The University of Georgia will serve as the host site for the 2017 NCAA Division I Men s and Women s Tennis Championships, it was announced by the NCAA in December. The Dan Magill Tennis Complex has played host to the men s NCAA Championships 24 times and the women s NCAA Championships three times, in addition to three combined tournaments for a total of 30, most recently in 2012. UGA will also serve as host in May 2014. The Georgia men s tennis team has won six NCAA titles, including five in Athens. The women claimed the national title in 1994 and at home in 2000. ON DECK: The Bulldogs will conclude the 2014 regular season next weekend, traveling to take on Alabama on Friday night and Auburn on Sunday afternoon. The SEC Championships is set for the following week, April 18-21, in Nashville.
