The journey The group will then leave for Barcelona for Vallnord by coach This is a 3hr coach journey (approx.) It is unlikely that we will arrive at Hotel Patagonia before midnight!
Vallnord The Vallnord ski area is set amongst the picturesque valleys of the north west of Andorra and includes the three main sectors of Arinsal, Pal and Ordino Arcalis. Vallnord affords visitors the possibility of a great variety of skiing and snowboarding across the three resorts. Vallnord provides 93km of marked runs, efficiently served by a modern lift system of 45 lifts in total. There are three ski and snowboard schools, all operated by Vallnord. The school based in Arinsal has a large number of British instructors who return year after year, providing an excellent standard of tuition for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. There is a strong focus on families across the whole of Vallnord, with 3 nurseries and 3 snow gardens where younger members of the family can have hours of fun both on and off the snow depending on their age. In Arinsal group ski lessons start from just four years old! In summary, beginners and aspiring intermediates will love the facilities on offer in Arinsal and Pal, where first class ski schools and safe, family friendly slopes eliminate any stress and offer a welcoming, fun mountain experience. It s a pretty special ski area that the locals try to keep to themselves!
A typical day: 8am: breakfast at the hotel 10am 12 noon: ski school 12 noon 2pm: hot lunch on the slopes 2pm 4pm: ski school 4pm 6pm: relax at the hotel 6.30 pm 8pm: dinner at the hotel 8pm 10 pm: après ski entertainment 10pm: bed we WILL be tired!!
What to bring A kit list will be sent via Parent Mail in the next few days. However there are certain items we need to stress!!! Gloves at least two pairs! There is nothing worse than wet gloves!! Socks If you leave wet socks on the floor, it is HIGHLY likely that they will still be wet when you go to put them back on again the next day! Blister plasters Ski boots are like no other footwear you are ever likely to encase your feet in for several; hours at a time! Layers You can always take things off, but you can t put them on if you haven t got them! Sun screen Difficult to believe, but sunburn is a definite risk! Sunglasses/ski goggles Higher up the mountains there is likely to be bright sunshine; you need to be able to see where you are going! Lip salve/balm chapped/cracked lips can be extremely painful at 10C! Appropriate outdoor footwear you will continually fall over in trainers!
What to bring Phones and other electronic equipment are entirely at your own risk and students will NOT be allowed to use phones during ski lessons. sweets I have no doubt there will be suitcases and rucksacks packed full of haribo! Flip flops/slippers/sliders until you have been, you will not appreciate how it feels to slip your feet into these after a day on the slopes! Casual clothes for back at the hotel. Tracksuits, joggers, leggings etc. Comfort is the most important element; it will not be a fashion show! Ski gear is bulky and can be quite heavy. You will not have a massive amount of room in your luggage allowance for other clothes so please think carefully about what you need.
Money!!!!!!!! There is very little to buy in a ski resort There is very little time to buy it All meals are included. The only food money students will need is: Money for Liverpool airport on day of departure Pounds/Euros for the plane on both the outward and return journeys Euros for extra food (crisps/sweets) and drinks (coke/fanta) at the hotel bar Something to eat at Barcelona airport before our return flight (dep 17:20) should they wish
