HEAD COACH MARK BYINGTON Mark Byington was named head coach of the Eagle men s basketball program on April 1st, 2013.No stranger to Georgia Southern, Byington spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Southern Conference rival College of Charleston. He was named interim head coach of the Cougars for the final month of the 2011-12 season and guided the Cougars to a 7-4 mark in their final 11 contests. College of Charleston posted an overall record of 194-100 and a 108-51 mark in the SoCon during Byington s time there. The Cougars recorded six 20-win seasons, logged three SoCon South Division regular-season titles, advanced to the league s tournament championship game three times and made two appearances in the NIT. Byington spent the 2012-13 campaign as an assistant under James Johnson at Virginia Tech. A 1998 graduate of UNC Wilmington, Byington earned his bachelor s degree in physical education and was a three-year starter on the men s basketball team, earning second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association and All-CAA Defensive Team honors his senior year. A two-time CAA All-Academic selection, he scored more than 1,000 points during his career. Byington was a high school basketball standout at Salem High School and was named Player of the Year in the state of Virginia as a senior, leading Salem to the state championship. He also earned honorable mention All-America recognition and was a two time first-team all-state selection. Following his senior season, he was chosen Most Valuable Player of the Virginia High School League All-Star Game. 1

GAME RULES All high school rules applicable for the upcoming 2013-2014 Season will be enforced by the officials with the exceptions listed below: Game will consist of two (2) - twenty (20) minute halves. Halftime will last three (3) minutes strictly enforced. The clock will run the entire game except for the last two (2) minutes of the second half which will be stopped-time according to regular game rules. Also, the clock will stop during timeouts. Referees will keep time and notify teams of the time remaining throughout the game. Shooting fouls will be awarded throughout the game as in a regular game situation. Common fouls will be taken out-of-bounds until the last two (2) minutes of each half at that time, we will shoot 1- and-1. Substitutions can only be made in dead ball situations. Electronic and/or manual scoreboards will be visible at all times. Each team is allowed two (2) timeouts (30 seconds strictly enforced) per game to be taken at anytime, plus one for each overtime. The 1 st overtime will be one minute (stopped-time) in length with each team shooting 1-and-1 on common fouls. The 2 nd overtime will be sudden death with the first team that scores (free throws included) to be declared the winner. The clock may be stopped at any time at the discretion of the officials. 9

Traveling from Augusta and other routes on Highway 25 and Highway 80: 1. Come into Statesboro on Hwy 25/Hwy 80 (also called Northside Drive ). 2. At the 4th traffic light, turn right onto Highway 301 South/Main Street. (The first traffic light on this route will be at the Veterans Memorial Parkway/Bypass. It will be a half a mile before the second light). 3. You will pass through three traffic lights (1st East/West Main Street, 2nd Grady Street, 3rd East/West Jones Avenue ). 4. At the 4th traffic light, turn left onto Tillman Road. (As a point of reference look for Gnat s Landing Restaurant on your left at the intersection). 5.
