Operating instructions ON OFF A h B Brief Description Sonatic The Sonatic gas cylinder filling level indicator operates with ultrasonics, and was developed especially to measure the contents of conventional commercial 6 kg propane or 7 kg butane gas cylinders. The gas cylinder content is displayed in increments of 5, from 100 to 10. If the cylinder content drops below 10, the display will flash, indicating that the reserve range has been reached. 1 In addition to this, Truma- Sonatic with a 12 V connection also provides a constant display and a forecast. Important operating notes: Every time the gas cylinder is changed, the cylinder base and the cylinder mount (and the coupling pads in particular) must be cleared of any snow, ice, rust, or dirt. The gas cylinder must stand straight and firmly on the base. Maintain a contact time of approximately 3 minutes and avoid strong movements when measuring. The vehicles electrical system (respectively the electrical supply to the Sonatic) must at least be clear of radio interferences in accordance with EN 55025, class 1. Because the technique of this product is sensitive, it is possible that due to electromagnetic influences and with certain gas bottles it may give unpredictable readings. There shall be no claims for wrong readings. Basic value (Calibration) Before starting operation, a basic value of 100 must be stored in the memory for the gas cylinder which is to be measured. This is done as a rule with the cylinder completely filled (with butane or propane depending on the design). 1. Place the full gas cylinder on the cylinder mount (make sure the contact surfaces are clean) and secure it as specified. 2. To switch on, press button A once, briefly. The device will carry out a short measurement and the display will show the cylinder content at the time, based on the last basic value memory (When switching on a new device the first time the display will show "CAL", in this case a first basic value (calibration) according point 3 is necessary). Example:

Note: To determine a basic value (100 ), the cylinder concerned must be more than half filled, as otherwise the contents cannot be determined, and the display will show: flashing 3. To determine a new basic value (calibration), press button B briefly. The display will show: After a further 2 seconds, the device will start carrying out the basic measurement, and the contents of the gas cylinder at that particular moment will be shown on the display, flashing, as 100. flashing 4. Now confirm this value (100 flashing) by pressing buttons A and B simultaneously, until the display stops flashing (about 2 seconds). The device will then carry out another short measurement, and the display will show: Content measurement After some gas has been withdrawn, Sonatic will then show the cylinder content at that time as a percentage (in relation to the basic value). If the cylinder content falls below 10, the display will also flash, signalling that the reserve range has been reached (display in 5 increments). The display will switch off automatically after about 10 seconds. Note: When the device is switched off, the basic value set in each case will be retained. If you use a gas cylin- der of different design, different size or higher content a new basic value must be set. Sustained Operation/ Forecast Mode (only with 12 V connection) In Sustained Operation mode, you have the option of reading off the contents all the time, or of constantly seeing the contents by means of the gas cylinder symbol displayed (a wavy line corresponds to a content of about 10 ) or have a forecast of how long the gas content will last. If no consumption occurs within 100 hours, the device will switch itself off. To switch to sustained operation, press button A and keep it pressed for about 4 seconds, until the Hours indication also appears in the display: h To switch off, press button A again for about 3 seconds, until the Hours display 2

goes out. The device will now switch back to normal operating mode, and the device will then switch itself off after a further 10 seconds. Forecast Mode offers the option of determining the gas content in, and providing a forecast of how long this reserve will last. The average consumption measured over the past hours (or days) will be calculated with the residual content of the gas cylinder. The residual content will be displayed in and the remaining consumption time in h (hours). The first forecast can be made as early as after about one hour. A forecast according your current consumption can be made after approximately 24 hours. Example: and that this quantity, if drawn off at a consistent rate (from the average consumption calculated for the past few hours or days) will still last for about 51 hours. Important note: The accuracy of the forecast depends on the consumption behaviour. Constant gas consumption will allow for a more precise forecast. Technical Data Operational voltage: 9 V or 12 V DC Current consumption: Max. 40 ma Average consumption in sustained operation: approx. 15 ma Measuring cable length: 6 m Gas cylinder size: 6 kg propane or 7 kg butane gas cylinders Minimum installation space for gas cylinder mount: 250 x 250 mm with square installation space Additional height requirement in gas cylinder container: 20 mm Permissible inclination of gas cylinder: Max. 3 This display means, that in relation to the basic value (100 ) the gas cylinder still contains 75 of liquid gas 3 h Right to effect technical modifications reserved!

Installation instructions Installation and repairs may only be carried out by qualified personnel. Read the installation instructions carefully before starting work, and follow them closely. Important installation instructions 1. The screened measuring cable (length 6 m) must not be shortened, lengthened, or kinked. 2. If an aperture (5) needs to be drilled from the gas cylinder compartment directly into the interior of the vehicle, in order for the cable to be laid satisfactorily, this aperture must be located at least 50 cm above the base, and then sealed with silicone or a similar material. 3. In order to avoid faulty measurements, the measurement cable (4) must be laid at a distance of at least 20 cm from the electric leads (for halogen lights in particular). 4. Standing on the mount will cause the gas cylinder to be raised up by about 20 mm. If necessary, the securing arrangement for the cylinder will need to be adjusted by the appropriate means in order for the cylinder to be secured in the specified manner. A Installing the gas cylinder mount 3 1 4 2 5 50cm Fig. A: Release the gas cylinder securing device and lay the mount (1) beneath the cylinder in such a way that the measuring cable (2) can be guided out of the cylinder compartment at a protected point. Secure the cylinder once again, so as to ensure that it is set vertical on the cylinder mount. Mark the four securing points or the contour line, and take the mount out again. 5

Drill four securing holes (take care to avoid any cables, gas pipes, etc. which may be located beneath), and secure the measuring plates with four screws (Fig. A: 3 - not included in scope of supply; the type and length of the screws are to be selected to suit the condition of the base). Place the gas cylinder in position, and secure it again in the specified manner. Note: To avoid faulty measurements, the mount must be positioned horizontally in the vehicle. Electrical connection Fig. A: The measuring cable (2 - length 6 m) is laid through cut-outs in the base area of the gas cylinder compartment (4), along the gas pipe, free of any kinks, to the location chosen for the wall switch. In order to avoid any damage, the measurement cable can be laid in a protective duct (internal diameter 15 mm) in the area of the cylinder mount. Drill a hole with a diameter of 15 mm to feed the measuring cable into the interior of the vehicle, and lay the connection cable to the location intended for the wall switch. Connect the measuring cable and 12 V power feed to the wall switch in accordance with the connection diagram. + 9V + 12V Secure the wall switch with the two screws provided and mount the covers. Connect the device to the screened on-board network (central 5-10 A electrical supply) by means of a 2 x 0.75 mm 2 cable. If connection is made directly to the battery, the positive and negative leads are to be protected by fuses. Secure all cables with clips. The vehicles electrical system (respectively the electrical supply to the Sonatic) must at least be clear of radio in- terferences in accordance with EN 55025, class 1. If power pack units are used, care must be taken to ensure that the device can only be operated with safety extralow voltage (SELV), in accordance with EN 60742. Note: As an accessory Truma can supply a battery holder (Art. No. 50000-27700) for operation with a 9 V monobloc battery. Note: Sustained operation is not possible with 9 V connection with the Sonatic. In order to achieve maximum operational duration, we recommend the use of an alkali/manganese battery. 6
