If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the Referee or game officials during the break or after the game. Remember the rule book states the Referee is always right. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviour in any sport. Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team s performance will benefit and so will you. Treat all participants in the sport as you would like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor. Cooperate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition. Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. Page 7 of 12

YMCA Bannockburn and the Coach Code of Behaviour Play by the rules. Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours. Encourage children to participate, do not force them. Focus on your children s efforts and performance rather than whether they win or lose. Encourage children to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performance and skilful plays by all participants. Respect officials decisions and teach children to do likewise. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. Spectator Code of Behaviour Respect the decisions of the officials and teach enthusiasts of the game to do the same. Never ridicule or scold a young player for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational. Condemn the use of violence in any form, whether it is by other spectators, coaches, officials or players. Show respect for your team s opponents. Without them there would be no game. Do not use violence, harassment or abuse in any form (that is, do not use foul language, sledge or harass players, coaches, officials or other spectators). Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child would not participate. Page 8 of 12

YMCA Bannockburn and the Team Game Sheets Team Game Sheets can be found near the entrance to the desired court and will have designated areas for teams to enter player details. It is the Team Captain s responsibility for ensuring each player s details are listed. Legible writing must be used to include the first initial, surname and player number prior to the start of the game. The Team Game Sheet should be handed to the game official 1 minute before the start time. If the game official does not receive the team sheet fully paid and correctly filled in then the clock will start as normal but no play will commence until the sheet is filled in. Scorers and scoresheets It is the responsibility of each team to provide a scorer for the scoresheet and scoreboard. The game will not commence without a designated scorer. Only registered players names will be pre-recorded on the scoresheet. Unregistered (ie: a player who has not paid the Basketball Victoria and Golden Plains Basketball Association Rego fees) will not be recorded on the scoresheet. Teams that don t have their players registered by week two of the competition will automatically have any points deducted from the ladder. Game Fees All Game Fees are to be paid at Reception prior to the commencement of each game. The team payment must be paid in full, there is NO CREDIT here, therefore management recommend players bring along a little extra to cover any shortfall by missing players, and please don t ask the staff to pay next week as it will be a little embarrassing when they say no. No player under the age of 14 may play in a senior competition unless permission has been granted by the Competition Manager. Players must wear team uniforms and they must be matching colours.
