Entries must be postmarked no later than the entry deadline, July 14, 2016 and must have a postage cancellation. Changes to the entry form will not be permitted after the entry form deadline, July 14, 2016. Make checks payable to the Twirl Explosion and mail to: Twirl Explosion Kaye Nickoloff 3664 Elizabeth Dr. Vermilion, OH 44089 A participation ticket for Fair admission will be sent upon receiving entry form and fee (no refunds). Tickets will be sent only for performers and directors. Contestants should plan to provide proof of age (i.e. driver s license, birth certificate, or medical record). Failure to prove age could result in disqualification. The competition will be held at the Buckeye Sports Center, east side of grounds (south of 17 th Avenue). Teams, Corps and Freestyle may use their own CD, ipod or MP3. A CD player will be provided (you may not use your own CD player). Please bring a back-up CD to the music table. If a back-up is not provided at the time of performance, you will be disqualified. The competition directors, staff, and the Ohio Expositions Commission will not be responsible for accidents, property loss, or injuries. Judges will evaluate the overall safety of performers. After entry deadline you will be notified of approximate time schedule. Page 2 of 9

DIVISION: Parade Corps $50 per Parade Corps Location: Sports Center Date/Time (Director s Table) : July 31, 2016-8:30am (Parade Corps/Corps Directors Meeting) Event Date/Time: July 31, 2016 9:00am Age Divisions (average ages): Primary 0-6.99 with a cap of age 8 Juvenile 7-9.99 with a cap of age 11 Junior 10-13.99 with a cap of age 15 Senior 14-21.99 with a cap of age 21 Average age includes all performing members. Unit, as a whole (including Feature Twirler), must be in forward motion at all times (until the last person crosses the finish line). Two points will be deducted for each infraction. Judging starts when the first person steps across the starting line and stops when the last person crosses the finish line. Must have eight or more baton-twirling members. Fire batons are not permitted. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification of the group. Performance area: 40 wide x 140 long. Twirling 30 points General Effect 40 points Marching & Maneuvering 30 points 2 nd place (each age division).. Undertime/Overtime Flat Penalty -2.0 Must have three or more members in a team. Novelty number, use of something other than standard baton. Fluff ball, streamers or any type of novelty item attached to standard baton is acceptable. Fire batons are not permitted. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification of the group. Props and scenery pieces are not permitted (no use of boxes/containers on competition floor to store show items in when not in use). Must manipulate any item used on the floor to avoid it being a prop. Content 35 points General Effect 30 points Choreography 35 points DIVISION: Majorette Lines $8.00 per member per Team (max. $72.00) Location: Sports Center Age Divisions: Junior High, High School, College Time limit: 2-4 minutes. Undertime/Overtime Flat Penalty - 2.0 A majorette line consists of twirlers who have become members through an official selection process through the college/high school/junior high band organization. Must have three or more baton-twirling members in a majorette line. Use of standard baton only. Fire batons and novelty props are not permitted. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification of the group. Content 35 points General Effect 30 points Choreography 35 points Page 5 of 9

DIVISION: Solo & Duets Twirling Solo $8.00 per Event/Duets $16.00 per Event Location:Sports Center Age Divisions: 0-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, and 16-21 Any age event may be COMBINED if less than three (3) are entered in the event. Fire batons are not permitted. A twirl-off of first place winners in the Advanced Solo Twirling divisions will be held. Winner will receive the Ohio State Fair Grand Champion Trophy. An Advanced contestant is one who has won three first place awards in the event entered. For example, once you have won three first places from any organization in solo you are restricted to Advanced competition only in that event. Advanced contestants cannot enter Beginner events. Beginners may enter both beginners and advanced events. Any age event may be COMBINED if less than three (3) are entered in the event. Judging Guidelines (Solo Twirling/Two Batons//Three Batons/Duets): Variety, Difficulty, Accuracy of Twirls, Showmanship A score out of 100 points will be determined from the above guidelines. Penalties will be deducted. The Final Score will determine the placement. Class - Solo: 1 st 2 nd 3 rd 1. Modeling Sportswear.. Trophy Medal Medal May use beach ball, bat, etc to accent sporty looking outfit or may wear casual clothing. Floor pattern is participant s choice. 2. The contestant should vary the speed of the baton to match the timing changes of the music. Only one standard baton is permitted, and no props are allowed.
