NOTICES QATAR RACING AND EQUESTRIAN CLUB UK ARABIAN DERBY (Group 1 PA) ARO is delighted to announce that Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club will now be sponsoring the UK Arabian Derby. The date for 2014 will be Thursday 25 th September to be run at Newmarket. This is the only race in the ARO calendar restricted to four year old Arabians and always attracts a strong field. The race will be run over a mile for this year only (due to the change in date) but will return to a mile and two furlongs in 2015. This race always produces very exciting winners with last year s victor DJET TAOUY going on to win Pattern races as a 5 year old. Please note the date for early closing entries is WEDNESDAY 20 th AUGUST 2014 (12 noon). STEWARDS NOTICES HUNTINGDON 27 JULY Race 2 The Stewards considered the running of RAPID WATER ridden and trained by Miss Emma Owen, which finished unplaced. The Stewards noted the trainer s explanation, confirmed by the Veterinary Officer, that the gelding had finished distressed. Race 3 The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Mr Shakir Al Balushi, the rider of AL SHAHIQ (OMN), unplaced. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Rule 66 (vi) of the British Horseracing Authority Regulations for Arabian Horse Racing in that he used his whip above the permitted level. They fined him 60. Race 7 The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Mr Andrew L Jones, the rider of MR ROOSEVELT (UAE), unplaced. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Rule 66 (vi) of the British Horseracing Authority Regulations for Arabian Horse Racing in that he had used his whip when out of contention. They fined him 100. NEWBURY 10 AUGUST Race 3 The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Mr Matthew Stanley, the rider of LAHOOB, placed fourth, in the home straight Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Rule 66 (vi) of the British Horseracing Authority Regulations for Arabian Horse Racing in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. had used his whip above the permitted level. They suspended him for 4 days on dates to be notified to him by the British Horseracing Authority. Race 7 The Stewards noted that the winner, AZIZI (FR), had interfered with TATWEER (FR), placed fourth, inside the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved AZIZI (FR) s placing. Race 8 The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately 3½ furlongs out. They found that CALLYMAY, unplaced, ridden by Mr M. Smith, had interfered with ATTILA DE ROUAISSE (FR), which unseated its rider, Mr Jordan Uys. They found the interference was accidental.
