Attention all Drama Club Members: There is a Tech meeting today after school in the Auditorium at 2:30pm.
If you are interested in joining the National Art Honor Society, please see Ms. Mapp in DOO1 today, at STEP. Requirements include that you are taking a Visual Arts class and that you maintain a B or better in the class and that you are able to attend meetings every Monday during STEP.
Watkins Mill is an IB World School, and some of you have seen many different parts of the world. We want you to represent. Attention Debate Team: You MUST pick up your permission slip today, get it signed and bring it back tomorrow. If you do not bring me a signed permission slip, you will not be able to participate in the debate at Blair on Wednesday October 1st.
Any student that wants to drive to school MUST purchase a parking permit. Permits are available in the Financial Office and cost $37.50 per semester or $75.00 per year. If you want the privilege of driving to school you need to purchase your permit no later than TODAY. Beginning Today Monday, September 29 th ALL student cars not displaying the tag in their car will be ticketed. Don t let this happen to you!!
Tickets for the 2014 Homecoming dance will go on sale October 1! The dance is Saturday, October 11. Tickets will be $20. The price includes admittance to the dance, food, water, and prizes. They will go on sale October 1 through October 10 during STEP in the mixing bowl. If you have a financial obligation, you will not be allowed to buy a ticket. Attention Juniors: Today is the last day to order and pay for your class shirt. The cost of the shirt is $10. A shirt will not be ordered for you unless you pay. You can pay Ms. Young at STEP or after school today..
Attention students: The yearbook staff is looking for the following to feature in the yearbook.: People who have been best friends for a long time. Any siblings that are all attending Watkins mill this year. People who would like to share family portraits or pictures of themselves with their pets Anyone with Hidden talents, Anyone who has a job outside of school. Any look-a-likes throughout the school.

Any Seniors who have not had their senior picture taken needs to plan to take it on the picture make up days in October. Contact Mr. Wu if you have any Questions. Seniors applying to 4 year colleges or universities need to request their official transcripts down in the counseling office. Please bring your signed transcript release form, your brag sheet if you haven t already turned that in, cash or check if needed, and any envelopes for schools that require documents to be mailed. Please see Mrs. Prochnow if you have questions and Mrs. Jimenez to turn in your materials.
Seniors: Are you interested in being a page for the Maryland General Assembly? Pages serve for 2 non-consecutive weeks in the spring in Annapolis in either the House or the Senate. Pages run errands, distribute materials on the floor to the members and keep the members bill books up to date. Sixteen students in Montgomery County will be selected. Please see Mrs. Prochnow for an application if interested.
Students: Are you looking for scholarships? Then check out the list of Local and National Scholarships posted on the Watkins Mill College/Career Center page. There are essay contests for all grades, scholarships for community service, academics and leadership for seniors like the Coca Cola Scholarship, and many more. Start early and come down to the Counseling office if you need a transcript or a recommendation letter.
Attention senior writers! Remember The Fran Abrams Creative Writing Award deadline is fast approaching! If you re an aspiring professional writer and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, you could win $1000 for your poetry, fiction or personal essay. The application deadline is October 1, so don t wait! For more details, please see your English teacher.

Watkins Mill High School is partnering with Maryland Vehicle Administration to offer the Maryland Learner s Permit test here at Watkins Mill High School. If you are eligible to obtain your learner s permit and would like to take the test here at school, stop by the main office to pick up the application. The completed application must be returned to the main office no later than Friday, October 24 th. The test date will be Saturday, November 1 st at 1:00pm in the media center. There will be a Varsity Soccer game at Rockville today. Girls play at 5pm boys play at 7pm
There will be a girls volleyball game today here at the mill against Gaithersburg. JV plays at 5:30 and varsity plays at 6:30
