DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES Entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2008. All entry fees must accompany the entry form. A $40 fee will be charged for all returned checks. Please make checks payable to: Washington FSC. There will be a late entry fee of $40 per entrant. ENTRY FEES Test level events: $80.00 per couple One-Dance Events (Open and Team): $45.00 per couple Two-dance events: $80.00 per couple Competitors entering four (4) or more events will receive a 10% discount on entry fees. RULES 1. The Pro-Am is open to all eligible skaters in good standing with USFS per CR 3.01 and will be governed by the rules of USFS as specified in the 2007-08 Rulebook except as otherwise stated. 2. Ties will be broken by total ordinals of the second dance. 3. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place eligible (non-coach) skaters in all events and to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Teams (including coaches) in the Rhythm events. 4. The USFS test pattern requirements will determine the number of dance sequences to be skated. 5. The term coach is defined as a person (eligible or ineligible) who receives direct financial benefit for instructing figure skating, excluding those teaching only group lessons. 6. Test level and age category are as of May 1, 2008. 7. If necessary, a coach may enter with up to two eligible partners in the same event. However, coaches are encouraged to enter with only one partner per event. 8. The Committee reserves the right to combine or divide any event if necessary and to cancel any event with a full refund. Otherwise, there will be no refunds after the close of entries. 9. Events will be scored using the 6.0 system, but all eligible team critiques will be conducted from an IJS perspective. RINK FACILITIES All events will be held on the Olympic surface at SkateQuest Reston, measuring 100 x 200. The rink has a snack bar which will be open during the competition. VIDEO If personal videotaping is done, only battery-operated cameras may be used. There will be NO flash photography permitted in the arena. TEST LEVEL EVENTS A dance couple will consist of an eligible skater and a coach. The eligible skater may not enter an event below his/her completed test level (standard, adult or masters) as of May 1, 2008, but may skate up. Events will be divided by age as follows: Class I 17 years and younger Class III 36 through 49 years Class II 18 through 35 years Class IV 50 through 59 years Class IV(G) 60 years and over

Teams may skate up one level. Pre-Juvenile Compulsory Dance: Rhythm Blues, Cha Cha Juvenile Compulsory Dance: Fiesta Tango, Ten Fox Intermediate Compulsory Dance: Rocker Foxtrot, European Waltz Novice Compulsory Dance: Foxtrot, Starlight Waltz Free Dance events for Juvenile, Intermediate and Novice OPEN DANCES There are no test or age restrictions for this event. A dance couple will consist of an eligible (non-coach) skater and a coach, or two eligible skaters. Willow Waltz, Fourteenstep, American Waltz, Blues, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Austrian Waltz CLASS IV OPEN DANCES Hickory Hoedown, Fourteenstep, Rocker Foxtrot, Starlight Waltz PRE-BRONZE ADULT DANCE ELIGIBLE ONLY This is a two-dance event for eligible adult teams. Skaters may have passed no higher than two Pre- Silver dances. Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango

ADULT FREE DANCE For eligible adult teams and coach/student teams. All must have completed a minimum of the Silver Dance test (standard, adult, or masters) or eligible adult skaters must have passed either the Adult or Masters Silver Free Dance test. COACHES ONLY Westminster Waltz, Rhumba RHYTHM EVENT/TEAM EVENT A coach will skate three dances per rhythm with three eligible skaters at different test levels. Dance 1: Passed no higher than Pre-Silver; Dance 2: Passed no higher than Pre-Gold; Dance 3: Open). Dance 3 is open to eligible teams. TANGO FOXTROT WALTZ Dance 1 Fiesta Tango Ten-Fox Willow Waltz Dance 2 Tango Rocker Foxtrot European Waltz Dance 3 Argentine Tango Quickstep Viennese Waltz TROPHY EVENTS The Patsy Jones Picken Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the team winning the Intermediate Compulsory Dance Event The American Waltz Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Open American Waltz Event. The Blues Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Open Blues Event The Edward G. Picken Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Open Fourteenstep. The winner of the Gold Class I event will receive the Klurfeld Memorial Trophy The winner of the Pre-Silver Class IV event will receive the Barbara Shaw Trophy. The male and female coaches each accumulating the most points based on results of events entered with their skaters will receive the John LeFevre Trophy CRITIQUES Critiques will be offered for eligible teams following the Pre-Juvenile through Novice Dance events. Critiques will be available for eligible teams entered in Open events as requested in advance. PRACTICE ICE Any available practice ice will be announced at the release of the tentative schedule. SCHEDULE A tentative schedule of events will be available approximately two weeks prior to the competition. The schedule will be posted on the Washington FSC website: http://www.wfsc.net.
