The Bulldogs received their first NCAA Tournament bid in 2004. Young, But Experienced The 2006 Bulldogs field a young, but experienced team, as all but one member of the 2005 team returned for the 2006 season. Of the 10-member team, six are returning sophomores or juniors, one is a redshirt freshman and one is a sophomore transfer. The young team posted a 14-6 record, and captured the second Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title in school history. Three Bulldogs Honored By OVC Three Samford netters were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference. Sophomore Katie McMiller was named first-team all-conference, and sophomore Anna Jackson and junior Sarah McKey were both named second-team All-OVC. SEC Foes This marks the second time that the Bulldogs will face an SEC opponent in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In 2004, the Bulldogs received their first NCAA Tournament bid, and were sent to Athens, Ga., to face Georgia in the first round, where they fell 4-0.
