Each divisin is played by cmpetitrs f either gender. 4.2 Individual BC 1 Is played by athletes classified within the Classificatin System as BC 1 Athletes may be assisted by ne Sprt Assistant, wh shuld be psitined behind the playing bx in a designated area. The BC 1 Sprt Assistant is nt allwed t prepare the thrw by rientating the wheelchair, r t rll the ball withut being instructed by the athlete t d s. The sprt assistant is nt allwed t have direct physical cntact with the athlete during the act f thrwing r kicking. These Sprt Assistants perfrm tasks such as: Adjust r stabilize the playing chair (if Sprt Assistant stays inside the athletes bx withut stabilizing the wheelchair, it is nt cnsidered a vilatin) Passing a ball t the athlete Rlling the ball t btain a mre spherical shape 4.3 Individual BC 2 Is played by athletes classified within the Classificatin System as BC 2 Athletes are nt eligible fr assistance by a Sprt Assistant during the match. They may ask fr assistance frm the Referee, (as part f their time allwance) t pick up a ball that has been accidently drpped, r t g int the curt. 4.4 Individual BC 3 (Athletes using an assistive device, ramp) Is played by athletes classified within the Classificatin System as BC 3 Each athlete is allwed t be assisted by a Sprt Assistant, wh will remain in the athlete s bx, but wh must keep his/her back t curt, and eyes averted frm play. The BC 3 Sprt Assistant is nt allwed t prepare the thrw by rientating the wheelchair r the ramp, r rlling balls withut being instructed by the athlete t d s. The BC 3 Sprt Assistant may nt lk int the curt while rienting the ramp. The Sprt Assistant is nt allwed t have direct physical cntact with the athlete during the act f thrwing, including helping the athlete by pushing r adjusting the wheelchair r the pinter.

4.5 Individual BC 4 Is played by athletes classified within the Classificatin System as BC 4 Nn-cerebral rigin and BC 4 ft player The athlete must chse if he/she uses the upper r the lwer limbs t prpel the ball. The BC 4 thrwing athletes are nt eligible fr assistance by a Sprt Assistant during the match. They may ask fr assistance frm the Referee, during their time allwance, t pick up a ball that has been accidentally drpped, r t g nt the curt. The BC 4 ft player as described in the Classificatin System may be assisted by ne Sprt Assistant, wh shuld be psitined behind the playing bx in a designated area. The BC 4 Sprt Assistant is nt allwed t prepare the thrw by rientating the wheelchair, r rlling the balls withut being instructed by the athlete t d. The Sprt Assistant is nt allwed t have direct physical cntact with the athlete during the act f kicking. These Sprt Assistants perfrm tasks such as: Adjust r stabilize the playing chair (if Sprt Assistant stays inside the athletes bx withut stabilizing the wheelchair, it is nt cnsidered a vilatin) Passing a ball t the athlete Rlling the ball 4.6 Individual BC 5 [New!] Is played by athletes wh are diagnsed with cnditins f Cerebral and Nn Cerebral rigin. In summary: These are athletes with less impairment than a BC2 r BC4 Cerebral: Quadriplegic, Triplegic, Severe Hemiplegic. The Impairment may be a result f Hypertnia / Hyptnia / Spasticity, Athetsis / Ataxia / Dystnia. Nn Cerebral: The Impairment may be a result f lack f Muscle strength, limitatin in Range f mvement r limb shrtening (see BC4 inclusin). The impact f the impairment is n the thrwing arm. Athletes will use a manual r pwer chair fr everyday mbility. Athletes may walk with assistance r using a walking aid ver shrt distances.

5. Game Frmat 5.1 Preliminary Rund Allcatin f teams t each grup is based n randm system draw predecided by the Organizer. The games shall be played in a rund-rbin frmat. The Preliminary Rund winner shall be the team with the mst number f wins in their respective grup after all games in each grup has been played. Tp tw teams f each grup will advance t the Semi-Finals rund. 5.2 Semi-Finals Rund The winners f Preliminary Rund will advance int the Semi-Finals Rund and crss play with each ther (Winner f Grup A versus 2nd f Grup B and Winner f Grup B versus 2nd f Grup A). 5.3 Finals Playff And 3rd/4th Playff The winners f Semi-Finals Rund will enter the Finals Playff t play fr First and Secnd psitin f the cmpetitin. The lsers f Semi-Finals Rund will enter the 3rd/4th Playff t play fr Third and Furth psitin f the cmpetitin. 6. Match Frmat 6.1 In Individual divisins, a match cnsists f fur (4) ends except in the case f a tiebreak. Each athlete initiates tw ends with cntrl f the Jack alternating between athletes. Each athlete receives six (6) clured balls. The side thrwing red balls will ccupy thrwing bx 3, and the side thrwing blue balls will ccupy thrwing bx 4.

7. Gameplay 7.1 Each athlete r side may use their wn clured balls. Fr individual categry, each athlete may use their wn Jack. 7.2 The Referee flips a cin and the winning side chses whether t play red r blue. The side playing red balls always initiates the first end. 7.3 The match begins with the presentatin f the Jack t the athlete at the start f the first end by the Referee. The jack must be thrwn int valid area f the curt. 7.4 The athlete wh thrws the Jack als thrws the first clured ball. If the ball is thrwn ut f the curt, r is retracted fllwing a vilatin, that side will cntinue t thrw until a ball lands in the valid area f the curt r all their balls have been thrwn. 7.5 The side t thrw next will be the side which des nt have the clsest ball t the Jack, unless they have thrwn all their balls, in which case the ther side will thrw next. This prcedure will cntinue until all balls have been thrwn by bth sides. 7.6 If an athlete decides nt t thrw any remaining balls, they may indicate t the Referee that they are dwn thrwing, fr that end, and the remaining balls will be declared as Dead Ball(s). 7.7 The end is cmplete when all 13 balls frm bth sides have been prpelled nt the curt / declared as Dead Balls. 7.8 Fr BC 3 divisin, an athlete can use mre than ne Assistive Device (Ramps and/r head pinters) during a match. All Assistive Devices must remain in the athlete s bx. He/She must have direct physical cntact with the ball at its release. Direct physical cntact als includes using an aid attached directly t the athlete s head, muth, r arm. The Assistive Device (Ramp) must als be clearly mved t the left and t the right in between shts and must nt verhang the frnt thrwing line when the ball is released. 8. Cach 8.1 N cach is allwed t enter the Field f Play (FOP) fr individual events. 9. Mvement On Curt 9.1 Once the referee has indicated which side is t play, athlete frm that side is free t enter the curt. 9.2 An Athlete is nt allwed t g int ther bxes while preparing his/her next sht r t rientate the ramp.

10. Time 10.1 Each side will have a time limit fr the playing f each end that is mnitred by a timekeeper. 10.2 A side s time shall start when the Referee indicated t the timekeeper which side shuld play, including the Jack. 10.3 A side s time will stp the mment each ball thrwn becmes statinary within, r crsses the curt bundaries. 10.4 Time Limit fr each divisin f Play: a. BC 1 5 minutes per athlete per end b. BC 2 4 minutes per athlete per end c. BC 3 6 minutes per athlete per end d. BC 4 4 minutes per athlete per end e. Penalty Balls 2 minutes per vilatin (2 balls) f. Time ut 2 minutes g. Medical time ut 10 minutes h. Warm-Up 2 minutes 11. Scring 11.1 Scring will take place by the Referee after all balls have been thrwn by bth sides, including penalty balls where apprpriate. 11.2 Fr each end, ne pint is awarded fr every ball f the same clur which is clsest t the Jack. 11.3 If tw r mre balls f different clurs are equidistant frm the Jack and n ther balls are clser, then each side will received ne pint per ball. 11.4 Once all ends have been played, pints scred fr each end are accumulated t give a final scre. The side with the highest scre is the winner. 11.5 If the scres are equal, a tie-break end is played. The pints scred in a tiebreak end will nt cunt twards a side s tally in that match; it will nly determine the winner. 11.6 If a side frfeits a match, then the ppsing side is awarded the match by the higher f 6-0; r the greatest pints difference in any match in that grup r knck-ut series. The disqualified side will scre zer.

12. Tie Break 12.1 A tie-break cnstitutes ne extra end. 12.2 All athletes will remain in their riginal bxes. 12.3 In a tie-break end, the winner f the cin tss will chse which side plays first. The cin tss determines the beginning f the end and takes place as sn as bth sides are ready. The Jack f the side that plays first will be used. 12.4 The Jack is placed n the Replaced Jack Crss. 12.5 The end is then played as a nrmal end. 12.6 If a situatin detailed in 5.5 ccurs and each side receives equal pints n this end, the scres are recrded and a secnd tie-break is played. This time the ppsite side will begin the end. This prcedure cntinues, with the first thrw alternating between sides, until there is a winner. 12.7 Befre, during r after the cin tss, the BC 3 sprt assistant cannt lk int the curt while rienting the ramp. If this des ccur, the referee will let the athlete thrw, and then gives the prper vilatin. (8.2 and/r 8.3). 13. Warm-Up 13.1 Athletes are given tw (2) minutes f warm-up befre the start f their game. Each athlete will psitin themselves in their designated bxes and may thrw their wn warm-up balls, including the Jack, when indicated t d s by the Referee. An athlete may thrw up t seven (7) warm-up balls during the tw minutes f warm-up. 13.2 Persnnel allwed t accmpany Athlete int the warm-up area: a. BC 1 1 cach, 1 assistant b. BC 2 1 cach, 1 assistant c. BC 3 1 cach, 1 assistant d. BC 4 1 cach, 1 assistant

14. Penalties In the case f a vilatin, there are 3 different frms f penalties: Penalty, Retractin, Warning and Disqualificatin. 1) Penalty a. Penalty is the award f tw (2) extra balls t the ppsing side and will be thrwn at the cnclusin f the end. b. The time limit fr Penalty balls is tw minutes fr each vilatin (2 balls). c. Dead balls f the side awarded the Penalty balls will be used. If there are nt enugh dead balls then the ball(s) f that side which are furthest frm the Jack will be used. d. Vilatins cmmitted by bth sides cancel each ther ut. Fr example, if during an end, the ride side has cmmitted tw vilatins, and the blue side has nly ne vilatin, then blue will receive Penalty balls fr ne vilatin nly. 2) Retractin a. Retractin invlves the remval f a ball frm the curt that was thrwn when a vilatin was cmmitted. The ball will be placed in the Dead Ball cntainer. b. Retractin penalty can nly be given fr a vilatin, which ccurs during the act f thrwing, at the pint when the ball is released. 3) Warning and Disqualificatin a. When a warning is given, a yellw card will be shwn t the athlete and this will be nted n the scre sheet. If a secnd warning is given during the same match, a yellw card and then a red card will be shwn t the athlete, which will result in a disqualificatin f the athlete. 15. Equipment & Facilities Check 15.1 An equipment check has t take place prir t the start f cmpetitin by the Head Referee and/r their designate. Equipment t be checked includes: balls, wheelchairs, assistive devices (ramps), head, arm r muth aids etc. 15.2 Equipment (eg. Wheelchairs, balls, ramps, pinters) is subject t randm checks at any time during cmpetitin at the sle discretin f the Head Referee. If any equipment fails t meet the criteria during the check, a warning will be issued t the athlete and the equipment is nt allwed t be used n curt, unless that athlete can make a repair t make it legal. In the case f rejected balls, they will be cnfiscated until the end f the last day f the cmpetitin. If any equipment fails a secnd randm check, the athlete will be given a red card and will be disqualified fr that match. 16. Assistive Devices Requirement 16.1 Assistive Devices (Ramp) must be cntained within a size that when laid n its side fits int an area measuring 2.5m x 1m. Ramps, including any attachments, extensins and bases must be extended t the fullest psitin during the measurement. 16.2 The maximum length f the aid is 50cm. if the aid is attached t the athlete s head r muth, it will be measured frm the middle f the frehead r the muth. If the aid is attached t the athlete s arm, it will be measure frm the middle f the shulder.

17. Wheelchairs Requirement 17.1 Maximum seat height, which includes a cushin r supprting bard, is 66cm frm the flr t the highest pint f the seat where the buttck is in cntact with the cushin. If fr medical reasns, the seat f the wheelchair is tilted, the measurement is made frm the flr t the pint f weight bearing. It is the lwest pint f the buttck. 18. Bccia Balls Requirement 18.1 A set f Bccia balls cnsists f six red, six blue and ne white Jack. The balls must have a defined clur f red, blue and white, and they must be in gd cnditin withut any visible cut marks. N stickers are allwed n balls. The Head Referee and ultimately the Technical Delegate will make the final decisin. 18.2 The weight criteria f each ball is 275g (+/- 12g) and will be tested using a weighing device accurate t within 0.01g. 18.3 The circumference f each ball is 270mm (+/- 8mm) and will be tested using a rigid template f thickness 7 7.5mm which cntains 2 hles, 262mm ( small hle) and 278mm ( big hle) respectively. The test prcedure will be: I. Each ball will be tested t check that it will nt pass thrugh the small hle under its wn gravity by placing the ball n tp f the small hle. II. Each ball will be tested t check that it will pass thrugh the big hle. This test is in tw parts: a. Each ball will be placed gently n tp f the big hle. The ball must pass thrugh the big hle under its wn weight (i.e. under gravity alne). b. Each ball will be drpped frm a height f 0.5 meter nt the big hle in the test template. The template is then raised GENTLY AND SLOWLY t check whether the ball will still pass thrugh the big hle. This test will be perfrmed up t three times fr each ball, and each ball must pass this test tw f the three times. A ball which fails twice will be rejected.

19. Medical Time-Out / Clarificatin And Prtest Prcedure Updated as at 24 May 2016 19.1 If an athlete becmes ill during a match (it must be a serius situatin), he/she may ask fr a medical time-ut if necessary. A match may be interrupted fr medical time-ut fr ten (10) minutes during which the timing f the match will be stpped. 19.2 Each athlete may nly request ne (1) medical time-ut per match 19.3 Any athlete wh asks fr a medical time-ut must be seen n curt as sn as pssible by the medical dctr assigned t the venue. 19.4 In Individual divisins, if an athlete is unable t cntinue, the match will be frfeited. 19.5 In BC 3 divisin, during the ten-minute medical time-ut, Sprt Assistants may nt lk int the curt area. The athlete must be attended t by a medical persn wh may be assisted with cmmunicatin by that athlete s Sprt Assistant if necessary 19.6 During the match, an athlete may request a ruling frm the Head Referee, whse decisin is final. 19.7 At the end f each match, cmpeting sides will be asked t sign the scre sheet. Shuld a side wish t prtest a decisin r actin, r feels that the Referee has nt acted in accrdance with the rules during that match, the scre sheet must nt be signed. 19.8 The curt fficial will nte the time f match cmpletin (after registering the result n the scre sheet). Any frm f prtests must be dne within a 30- minute perid frm the cnclusin f that match. If n prtest is received, then the result stands. 19.9 If a prtest decisin requires that a match be replayed, it will be replayed frm the beginning f the end where the situatin that mtivated the prtest ccurred. 20. Requirements 20.1 Target N. Of Participants a. Fr SNG 2016 Bccia, we are targeting 25 t 40 participants with at least 4 participants in each divisin. 20.2 N. Of Curts a. We are lking at minimum f 6 Field f Plays and a maximum f 8 Field f Plays in rder t cmplete all slts f games. 20.3 Playing Days and Time Duratin a. SNG 2016 Bccia will be a full tw-day event n 30 and 31 July 2016, frm 10am 6pm. There will be a minimum f 4 slts and maximum f 7 slts f games per day, apprximately 1h per slt f game.

21. Recreatin Cncept 21.1 Learn-T-Play Bccia Clinic 21.1.1. We will like t prpse a Learn-T-Play Bccia Clinic in cnjunctin with the SNG Bccia games. The main bjective f the clinic is t intrduce the game f Bccia and Para Sprts t the general public. In particular, we will like t target the elderly ppulatin fr this clinic as Bccia game play is highly suitable as an active lifestyle game fr the elderly. 21.1.2. The participants f the Clinic will be intrduced t the game f Bccia, fllwing which they will learn the basic skills and rules f the game.
