ditton field sports ground: your chance to help put sport at the heart of the community Widening access to sport; investing in the best young sportspeople locally.

www.kgs.org.uk/foundation 2014 Ditton Field: A sporting legacy the project: a sporting legacy at ditton field your chance to help put sport at the heart of the community... Our main goal now is to reach our fundraising target of 250,000 In 2011, the School undertook a sports review. As a result, significant changes have been made bringing our sports strategy, staff and coaching programmes in line with the School s Strategic Plan. Our facilities now need developing to match inspiration with reality and to help us provide a top quality sport provision for everyone. This proposal aims to make a major investment in our Ditton Field facility. we are already 67% of the way towards this total ROWING netball tennis cricket hockey The older of the School s two astro turf pitches is long overdue for replacement. This pitch is located alongside the Boathouse and agreements with our neighbours at the time of construction limit the hours of play. The new pitches have been relocated to be together with the Finlay pitch.

This new layout and weekend hockey provision would allow for a new Community Use Agreement and enable more local free access partnerships with schools, charities and local clubs A new hockey practice and warm up area between the pitches Two adjacent hockey pitches, making it easier operationally for coaching staff to move between pitches and improves the hockey spectator experience The second hockey surface can be played 7 days a week without impact on our neighbours. This is of particular benefit to the OKHC who would like to play there on Sundays the plans: our sports ground, ditton field, on the banks of the thames has a magnificent location opposite hampton court palace. Boasting 22 acres of playing fields, including 2 astro turf pitches, 4 cricket squares, 4 football pitches, 3 netball courts and 4 hard tennis courts. A more efficient layout and facilities will allow for more summer rentals by organisations and for the opportunity to run sports camps and competitions Doubled capacity of netball courts to six courts Considerably more space for boat storage Increased capacity of hard tennis courts at a competition level to seven

www.kgs.org.uk/foundation 2014 Ditton Field: A sporting legacy our history: the value of teamwork & leadership First annual sports day, held at Surbiton Recreation Ground Cricket matches played on the School Ground and at Bushey Park There is a long history of sport at Kingston Grammar School and it continues to be an integral part of the pupil experience. The Games programme embodies essential life-skills: the ability to win or lose with grace, the value of teamwork and leadership and the importance of self-belief and confidence. Through this process, we hope every pupil will endeavour to become a great sporting Kingstonian. We offer an extensive range of sports, allowing participation and performance at all levels. Flexibility and choice increase as pupils progress through the school, culminating in our extensive Senior Games programme. Our focus sports are Hockey and Rowing and KGS offers a highly competitive and supportive training programme for those pupils with the talent and commitment for international-level sport. We also play many other sports, including Cricket, Tennis, Netball and Football. www.kgs.org.uk/foundation 2014 Ditton Field: A sporting legacy a fundraising partnership: The overall cost of the redevelopment is 1.2 million 5 year sponsorship opportunities The School has designated funds from its capital investment budget for this project and the KGS Foundation has committed to raising 250,000 NEW astro turf for the hockey pitch NEW hockey practice area 3 x club sized tennis courts in donations from alumni and parents and supporting another 65,000 3 x standard size netball courts New layout and location for the long jump from the parent interest groups at KGS. The School and its supporters fully endorse this project and are fundraising enthusiastically. The School, the KGS Foundation, the Hockey Society, the Hockey Tour Committee, the Sherriff Club and the Old Kingstonian Hockey Club began fundraising in Autumn 2012 through events such as a sponsored 48 hour hockey match, successfully breaking a Guinness World Record, as well as a Gala Ball at Twickenham Stadium in Summer 2014. Corporate sponsorship is just one fundraising income stream which we are exploring, alongside trusts and foundations, individual benefactors, major gifts and telethons.
