Kelly Matsuoka, Swimming and Kevin Easley, Basketball Kelly, a sophomore, helped lead a come from behind victory for the girls swimming & diving team over Brebeuf, storming back to win the 500 freestyle by 0.61 seconds on the last lap. Kevin, a senior, scored 22 and 30 points respectively in wins over Park Tudor and Marion, helping the Wildcats start the season with a 2-0 record. He also scored his 1,000 th point of his career in the Marion game.

Cheerleading: Wow, what a response from the community! Our cheerleaders led an effort to Stuff the Bus for the LN food pantry. They spent most of their Saturday at the Kroger on Fall Creek Road. Based on the before and after pictures below, you can see for yourself how much of an impact the cheerleaders made. Great job, Cats!

Girls Basketball: The Wildcats (8-1, 1-1 MIC) lost to #1 Carmel 52-51 in a great early season game between two of the best teams in the state. The Cats bounced back to take their first MIC conference win over Ben Davis on the road, 55-48. The team will host Decatur Central in the first round of the Marion County tournament on Tuesday night, and then will most likely host #2 Pike on Thursday in the 2 nd round. The Wildcats are ranked 4 th in the state by the IBCA this week.

Boys Basketball: Head Coach Jack Keefer registered his 700 th win as a Wildcat in the season opener against Park Tudor. The Hall of Famer now has 762 wins over his 46 year coaching career, tied for 3 rd place all-time in Indiana basketball history. The Cats won 87-49. Jared Hankins had 23 points and Kevin Easley put up 22 to lead the Wildcats. LN then hosted the Marion Giants, winning going away, 90-66. Easley and Hankins paced the Cats again, scoring 30 and 27 respectively. Kevin Easley hit a milestone in the win, scoring his 1,000 th point on a corner 3-point shot. 4 th ranked Lawrence North (2-0) will travel to take on sister school and MIC rival Lawrence Central (1-1) on Wednesday night at LC, then will play Culver Academy at 1:30pm in the Forum Credit Union Tip Off Classic at the Southport Fieldhouse.

Boys/Girls Swimming: The boys team (3-0) beat Brebeuf, Ben Davis, and Pike last week to start the season off well. Leading the team with individual wins against Brebeuf were Brayden Laycoax, Bennett Vail, Tyler Birkla, Jasper Suiter, and Jacob Penrose. In the Ben Davis/Pike win, the Cats were paced by Joe Grese, Jack Dempsey, Suiter, Penrose, Vail, and Birkla. The girls team (2-2) had to come from behind to take the win over Brebeuf, sparked by Kelly Matsuoka s last lap pass for the win in the 500 freestyle. Other individual wins posted by the Cats included Edin Hall, Brooke Atkins, Kristen Mouser, and Rebecca Fernandez. The girls team split the BD/Pike meet, beat the Giants and losing to the Red Devils. Brooke Atkins posted wins in the 100 back and the 200 IM for the Cats. The team will travel to Noblesville on Tuesday and then will prepare for the Marion County Championships next weekend.

Wrestling: The LN wrestlers (6-5) lost a hard fought dual match to Carmel on senior night. Seniors Dheonte Unseld, James Despain, Donny Logan, and Tyler Majors were recognized before the match. The team also participated in the Bloomington South Duals, going 3-2 on the day. LN beat Bloomington North 54-21, Columbus North 50-24, and Martinsville 49-15. The Cats lost close matches to Center Grove 38-30 and Bloomington South 43-32. Deacon Pettiford went 5-0 with 2 falls and a major decision, and Karsten Harshbarger went 5-0 with 4 falls.
