1 MINUTES CABINET MEETING NOVEMBER 17 TH 2013 WINSLOE LIONS CLUB District Governor Lucio called the meeting to order at 11:10am with the singing of O Canada. Lions invocation was led by 1 st VDG Susan. We observed a moment of silence for deceased members and World Peace. The agenda was approved with item #14 amended to read LFC instead of LCIF. Roll call was taken with 28 clubs present and 73 members attending. Welcome from President of Winsloe Lions Club, Lion Jason Lamont. DG Lucio announced directories have arrived after many problems and thanked Lion Carolle and Lion Lea for their help in preparing the directories. DG Lucio offered his apologies for any remarks that he has made due to English being his 3 rd language and sometimes the meanings get lost in translation, he asked the Lions to advise him if this happens again and thanked them. He has visited 21 clubs to date and thanked Lions for the warm reception and the help he has received in getting his message across to Lions. He asked the Zone Chairs to help distribute the directories and then asked each Zone Chair to come forward and presented them with their personalized Zone Chair Patch. There were 6 Zone Chairs present Zone Chair Liaison Lion Brennan presented DG Lucio with his patch. DG Lucio presented his DG scarf to Elaine MacKay, 92 years young, Lioness Evelyn Forsythe, Riverview Lioness Club, Lion heather MacDonald Pickwauket Lions Club, 1 st VDG Susan, and Lion Mary Small Pickwauket Lions Club, wife of 2 nd VDG Doug. VDG Susan gave her remarks beginning with how quickly the year is passing already 37% of the year has passed. VDG Susan spoke of our Dreams, recognition and the good job DG Lucio is doing on recognition and encouraged all Lions to turn to the person beside them and thank them for being here, at which time the Lions did. She spoke of membership in our District, the APSEA Program and the transportation plans for the International Convention in Toronto. Closing 1 st VDG Susan wished the Lions on behalf of PDG Boyd and herself, a Very merry Christmas. (Full report is attached to the minutes).

2 Second VDG Doug began his report reminding all Lions of the financial help LCIF has given to the Philippines and how we can all assist, for a $20.00 donation LCIF Canada will issue a tax receipt. He reminded the Lions that they are paying for all the training that LCI provides on the website and Lions should take advantage of the training that is offered. 2 nd VDG Doug reminded all Secretaries to pass along to all members the messages that are sent on training and District and International news. He went on to announce a fundraiser that his club is launching, he did not tell the story but let the Lions know it is all explained in the letter. It does not say the club had to pay for him to get out of jail to attend the Cabinet meeting in Winsloe and he will return to jail after he gets back home. Pickwauket has depleted their resources to get him out of jail the first time but needs your assistance to get him out of jail to attend the Convention in Newcastle to run for your 1 st VDG during elections. 2 nd VDG Doug was sporting bug-eyed Lions on his shoulders and awarded the Lions to two members of the Douglastown Lions Club for hosting their first Dog Walk. CST Stewart reported the books from last year have been received and passed to the Auditor PDG Gerard Hartigan for audit. CST Stewart invited all Cabinet and Zone Chairs that wish to send a Christmas Message and did not have time to submit one to the newsletter Editor, could send to him and he would transmit to the Lions Clubs. He advised at the February Cabinet meeting adjustments to the budget would most likely be necessary as Directory Ads need to be checked and see what has been paid, billed etc. and compare to budgeted amount. Moved by Lion Terry Kavanagh seconded by Lion Peter Gallant, motion carried. Financial Report was emailed and copies available, CST Stewart asked for any questions on the financial report, surprising no questions he made a motion to adopt the report, seconded by PCST Gerry Forsythe. Motion carried Peace poster Report by Lion Jin Aucoin, thanked the Winsloe Lions for their assistance in judging the Peace Posters that were presented, first place went to Jordon Clark from Nackawic Middle School, sponsored by Nackawic Lions Club, Second place to Cameron Ross of Central

3 New Brunswick Academy sponsored by Boiestown Upper Miramichi Lion Club. Third place went to Hannah Smith of Nashwaaksis Middle School sponsored by Nashwaaksis Lion Club. Total of 353 posters submitted with 3 new clubs participating this year. MDN Long Range Planning Survey no report. Committee Reports Cabinet Chair reports were called by Vice District Governors, first half by 1 st VDG Susan second half by 2 nd VDG Doug Alert Lion Brennan Beaumont asked that all clubs appoint an alert chair, he will be sending out this request to all clubs. Full report included in minutes Auditor 2012-2013 PDG Gerard Hartigan Books received auditors report will be finalized for February Cabinet Meeting Auditor 2013-2014 Lion Judy Maltby Hoping Lion Gerard has his report done before hers id due. CDA NB Lion Harold Borden has a verbal report. Cavalcade will change this year to an expo. He and Chair Lion Wayne Hicks and Zone Chair PDG Sonny will meet with Erin to do some planning. He encouraged clubs to be more involved and have clubs name someone for the Harry Newman Award. Report Attached CDA PEI Lion Paul Gauthier reported on the participation of the Clubs in PEI they are organizing their tag day. Parkdale Sherwood is sponsoring a BBQ at Walmart to raise funds. He asked all clubs to send checks through diabetic chairs to be identified to have donations tabulated. Lion Paul spoke on the new dogs from LFC that are trained to aid with Children with diabetes. He has accepted the position of Vice Chair for Canadian Diabetic Association. Cavalcade NB and PEI No reports at this time Lunch break Called back to order after a great lunch DG Lucio presented a very hard working youngster a future member of Winsloe Lions Club, hopefully, a pin for his dedication to the club and helping to serve lunch.

4 Constitution & By Laws Chair Lion Jim Aucoin reported that he had a short meeting with the committee- PDG Bev and Lion Don Smith and decided to set a deadline of Friday January 31 st 2014 for the submission of Notice of Motions for the February 23 rd Cabinet Meeting to be held at Riverview lions Club. The committee has three Notices of Motion to Date 1. Fundraising 2. District Governors Honorarium (expand on use of) 3. Convention Finances Convention Chair Lion Paul Matheson will be getting registration forms out early January. Meet and Greet Friday Night schools on Saturday Environment Report. Lion Paul his report is attached Cultural & Community Activities Chair not present. Report submitted prior to Cabinet Meeting and attached. Drug Awareness Chair not present CST reported on her behalf that she has received names of some residents of Portage and is taking names of Clubs and assigning residents to clubs. Wish Lists are received some to follow from Luc from Portage. Christmas Party is December 8 th Gift ceiling as in the past is $100.00 GLT Chair CC Stewart reported on Training has CEP Facilitator training Saturday at Winsloe club Asked Zone chairs and clubs to identify training needs for Zones Report attached. GMT report PCST Gerry Forsythe spoke on membership from October 1931, which spans many years I guess he is getting old but I was not aware he was before 1931, actually holding his age well. Report Attached Eye Glass Chair Lion Gary Rideout was not present and CST reported that he is waiting on an email from Day and Ross which he believes should be positive and will forward information to Lion Gary upon receipt as well as the clubs. 2 nd VDG Doug called on Honorary Chair PDG Boyd No report at this time this is good Hearing & Speech Lion Dawn Penton reported on a request from the Montgomery School to replace the FM System. East Royalty Lions has donated $1000.00 and still require $800.00. She will be approaching the Zone 2 clubs to ask for assistance with raising these funds.

5 Information & technology Chair Lion reg House spoke briefly on the website and stated we have 17,000 hits on the site and that some clubs websites are out dated and should be updated or deleted. Full report Attached Public relations Chair Lion Reg reported that with the lack of funds it is up to the Clubs to make contacts and brag about their accomplishments. Each Club should appoint a PR Chair Report attached. Leo Club Chair Lion reg reported that we have 2 Leo Clubs, one very active and the other not as active, uprising it is Portage Leo Club that is so active. Report Attached. 50/50 Draw winner PDG Boyd Sangster $82.50 Minutes from September Cabinet Meeting motion to approve as presented, moved by Lion Harold seconded by Lion Terry motion carried. Zone Chair Liaison Lion Brennan Beaumont reported 6 zone chairs of 13 present for meeting this morning, three topics discussed, training, membership and reports going to LCI and Governors Team. Again another job for Zone Chairs to encourage clubs to send reports.

6 LFC PEI Director Lion Doug Cook showed a video on the training of our Service Dogs, also talked on our new service dog the diabetic alert dog. PDG Bev Semple joined him and she addressed the meeting and commented on the new service jackets for our service dogs, identifying them as Canadian in Red Jackets. Old Business PDG Boyd announced pop tab collection continues and to contact Lion Marg Dressier from barkers point Northside Lions Club if you have any donations. New business DG Lucio announced Portage Christmas Party PDG Kevin reported that International Director Elect PCC Rod Wright will be travelling across Canada and to Hawaii and a lot of work to do in preparation for this and the $15000.00 from the Multiple will not cover his expenses. He will be fundraising and sending letters to the clubs asking for assistance to finance the costs. Curling Lion PAUL Matheson reported on the curling Bonspiel and they are trying to plan it for some time in March. Registrations will be coming out soon.
