Tuesday, June 13, 2017 7:05 p.m. CT Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark Oklahoma City, Okla. Game #62 Road Game #38 Omaha Storm Chasers (31-29) RHP Christian Binford (3-3, 4.37) SERIES AT A GLANCE Omaha travels to Oklahoma City for the 1st time this year to face the Dodgers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The 2 teams split their 4-game set earlier in 2017 between 4/27-5/1 at Werner Park, including a twinbill sweep by the Chasers on 5/1 to close out the series. Omaha is coming off a 2-1 series win over New Orleans, while Oklahoma City swept their 3-game home series with Round Rock. The Chasers recorded a 2-6 mark at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark during the 2016 campaign. In 3 matchups with the Dodgers, OF Jorge Soler hit.444 (4-9) with 1 RBI, while INF Raul Mondesi posted a.364 clip (4-11) with 1 run & 3 walks in his 3 contests. OF Billy Burns compiled a.357 mark (5-14) with 3 runs scored in his 3 games versus Oklahoma City. The Dodgers pitching staff combined for a 1.69 ERA (7 ER/37.1 IP) against Omaha in the previous 4-game set, while Dodgers batters hit just.193 (27-140) against Oklahoma City. STORM STORIES Omaha has won each of their last 3 series openers after being victorious in just 3 of their 1st 12 series-starting contests to begin 2017. The Chasers matched a single-game high with 19 hits on Sunday after allowing a single-game high of 19 hits on Saturday evening. OF Jorge Soler s walk-off grand slam was the 2nd in Werner Park history after INF Kila Ka aihue s walk-off grand slam on 6/28/11 versus Memphis, which was also the 1st walk-off homer in Werner Park history. OF Terrance Gore on Sunday became the 1st Chasers player to steal home since OF Rey Fuentes on 7/28/16 at Round Rock. Gore over his last 2 games has hit his 1st HR of his pro career (6/10), robbed a HR (6/11), which got him featured on SportsCenter s Top Ten Plays, & stolen home (6/11). RHP Malcom Culver has not been charged with a run in 10 of his last 11 outings since 5/9, notching saves in all 3 save chances in that span. CHICKS DIG THE LONGBALL Sunday s contest saw a total of 8 home runs hit between the Chasers & Baby Cakes, the highest single-game total at Werner Park since 8 were hit between Omaha & New Orleans on 7/17/14. INF Dean Anna & C Cam Gallagher s back-to-back jacks marked the 2nd time Omaha has done that this season, with INF Ryan O Hearn & OF Jorge Bonifacio each blasting big flies on 4/12 vs. Round Rock. Both of those occasions took place in the 2nd inning of their respective contests. Omaha has now homered in 8 of their 10 June matchups after totaling just 1 longball in their previous 8 games. The Chasers 16 homers this month rank T-6th among all MiLB teams, in addition to 5th in the PCL. OF Jorge Soler s grand slam was also Omaha s 2nd of the year after INF Ramon Torres 4-run slam on 4/26 vs. New Orleans. SOLER POWER OF Jorge Soler on Sunday became the 1st Chasers batter to launch 2 homers in a game this year. The last time an Omaha player recorded 2 or more big flies in a game was INF Hunter Dozier on 7/25/16 at Nashville, while the last player to do it at home was INF Balbino Fuenmayor on 7/20/16 vs. Las Vegas. Thanks to his 2 homers on Sunday, Soler now leads the Chasers with 8 roundtrippers despite having played just 18 contests with Omaha this year. 6 of those 8 roundtrippers have come at Werner Park, including 5 over the Chasers last 7-game homestand from 6/5-11. 7 of Soler s 16 career longballs at the Triple-A level have come at Werner Park, including 1 while playing for the Iowa Cubs in 2014. Soler (2-6, 2 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI) set a new career-high with his 6 RBI, while 1B Frank Schwindel (3-4, 2 R), C Cam Gallagher (3-5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) & CF Terrance Gore (3-5, 3 R, 2B, RBI, SB) each recorded a game-high 3 hits. Gallagher & 2B Dean Anna crushed back-to-back HRs as part of a 5-run 2nd inning after the Baby Cakes took an early 7-0 lead. New Orleans 2B David Vidal (3-5, R, HR, 5 RBI) led the Baby Cakes with his 3 hits & 5 RBI. Omaha reliever Eric Stout (2.1 IP) earned his 3rd win with 2.1 perfect innings of work, while New Orleans righty Javy Guerra (0.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB) suffered the defeat. Chasers southpaw Brian Flynn (2.1 IP, 3 H, 2 K) also fired 2.1 shutout frames of relief as part of his MLB Rehab Assignment. WE HEARD YOU LIKE RUNS... The 26 runs scored between Omaha & New Orleans on Sunday were the most in a Chasers game since Omaha s 17-11 victory over Albuquerque on 4/8/12. Sunday s game was the 3rd-highest single-game scoring total at Werner Park behind the previously mentioned game in 2012 & an 18-13 win over Albuquerque on 6/30/11 at Werner Park. The Chasers 15 runs were the most they have scored since plating 15 in a 15-5 win over Memphis at Werner Park on 5/12/16. Omaha also matched a single-inning high in 2017 by plating 5 runs in the 2nd frame. 4 of the 6 occasions this year in which the Chasers have scored 5 tallies have come in the 2nd inning. STRUGGLING STARTERS The Omaha rotation this month has compiled a 1-4 record & 6.98 ERA (38 ER/49.0 IP) in 10 June starts. Over their 1st 2 months of 2017, Chasers starting pitchers combined for a 19-16 clip & 3.49 ERA (106 ER/273.0 IP) in 51 starts. Opponents have also posted a.335 average (81-212) versus Chasers starters this month after accumulating a.230 clip (236-1027) through April & May. Omaha starters have already matched their total number of earned runs allowed over 21 April outings (38) this month, in addition to allowed nearly twice as many longballs in June (15) as in April (8). THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING OF Bubba Starling has collected at least 1 knock in 24 of his last 28 games dating back to 5/9, in addition to 8 of his last 9 and 12 of his most recent 14 matchups. Over his last 28 tilts he owns a.327 average (33-101) with 14 runs, 6 doubles, 3 HR & 10 RBI, in addition to an.834 OPS. That span includes a 12-game hit streak between 5/9-21, during which he hit.425 (17-40). Through his 1st 26 games in 2017, Starling hit.133 (11-83) along with a.414 OPS, recording hits in just 8 of those contests. ROCKIN RAUL INF Raul Mondesi has collected at least 1 hit in 29 of his 35 contests with Omaha in 2017. He also enters play today ranked 2nd in the PCL in steals (14) behind only Salt Lake s Eric Young Jr. (15). Since 1st joining the Chasers on 4/25, his 14 steals are 4 more than any other player in the PCL, with Young Jr., Alburquerque s Rosell Herrera & Fresno s Derek Fisher each swiping 10 in that span. Overall in his Triple-A career, Mondesi has recorded a hit in 40 of his 49 games with Omaha, and has been successful in all but 2 of his 21 stolen base attempts. PREVIOUS MATCHUPS VS.
