ROCKET RECORDER Principal s Corner Dear St. Nicholas Community, We are finishing up another week of school. The first month and half have flown by, so I would like to get some parent feedback on how things are going. Therefore, we are having a Breakfast with the Kids and then a short meetings with me afterwards to discuss how things have been going. There is a flyer in the Rocket Recorder that you can refer to. We have done a good job with wearing our game day jerseys. However, remember that we need to be in uniform when it is a Mass day. Two of the many things that I am working on is accreditation and making our school safer. We have a lot of work to do with accreditation before the end of the year. Next, we have received a grant from the Department of Justice to help improve the safety of our school. Mrs. Wilkinson and I went to a School Safety meeting this week. We will be building a plan and I will share information with families once the plan is created. Enjoy the fun activities that are happening at St. Nicholas. Blessings, Scott Vanderloop Principal svanderloop@stnicholasfreedom.org Rocket Recorder 1

Home and School News -See the flyer in the family envelope with details on the Halloween Party on 10/21 from 2:30-4:30pm. A separate email was sent this week asking for donations and help with set-up and clean-up! We appreciate any help you can provide! --There are several families who haven t paid their H&S dues. Please send your $10 into the school office. -We are still searching for a secretary for the H&S board! Please consider volunteering. It s important to volunteer now so that we have overlap when 2 board members off-board at the end of this school year. -Our Scoopie Night fundraiser at Culvers in Little Chute is Monday Nov 12, 2018 from 5pm-8pm. St. Nicholas earns 10% of all sales during that time! Come support our school and spread the word to your family and friends! Athletic News Volleyball finished up this week for the season. The 5th & 6th graders lost to Stockbridge on Monday, but played well while working a bump-set-spike approach.. The 7th/8th graders won their match with Stockbridge, but lost to Xavier on Tuesday, finishing 5-4 for the season. Most of the players were 7th graders but we stayed competitive at the 8th grade level. The 8th graders were great leaders and everyone worked well as a team. Stay tuned for news on winter volleyball clinics! Say NO to Drugs Coloring Contest: Coloring books have been handed out to PreK-3 thru 3rd graders this week. Students in K - 3 are eligible to enter the contest for a new bike. Students may enter as many pages as they wish. Please help them fill out the contact information including Teacher and School. The winner from each school will be selected from a random drawing of all entries from that school. The Advertiser Times Press sponsors this competition. One student from our school will win a bicycle! Entries must be turned into the office by Wednesday, November 14. Tuition Statements and Lunch bills will be sent home next week with Scrip profits posted for June - September. Rocket Recorder 3

SNS Student Leadership Thank you for all the support in our first monthly Bake Sale! We made just over $75. This money will be used to purchase items our school needs. We will keep you updated as to what we use that money towards. Please remember we will host a Bake Sale on the 2nd Tuesday of each month! Our School Store will be opening next week Wednesday. A schedule of dates will be posted in this newsletter. Last year, we were able to purchase 3 document readers for teachers, art supplies, materials for our music Christmas concert, gym equipment, decorations for our schools-wide Thanksgiving meal, and various other items for our school. Student Leadership is also collecting gently used or new coats, hats, mittens, and scarves for our donation to Coats for Kids. We are accepting items through the end of October. Items can be left in the 8th grade homeroom. Student Leadership appreciates all your support in our efforts!!
