SWIM LESSONS OVERVIEW Prairie Life Fitness provides highly trained, knowledgeable instructors to work with any age or skill level. Generally classes are 3-5 children. There is a limit of 5 kids per class and a minimum of 3 kids for lessons to occur. Polliwogs & Level 1 will have a limit of 4 kids. All youth group swim lessons are free to members. Non-members will be put on a wait list and have 24 hours to pay for the lessons once notified space is available. There are no refunds issued unless a class is cancelled. Please note that class times may be changed or cancelled based on instructor availability and the number of children participating. Level Descriptions help better place your child in the appropriate class. If you have questions, please contact Jackie Kato, Aquatics Director at 223-5999 ext. 215. Water Babies Learn how to interact with your child in the water. Introduction to beginning skills, and games while enjoying the water with your child. Each child must be accompanied by either one or both parents. 6mo 3 years old. Polliwogs 1 & 2 Introductory class for 3-4 year olds. Level 1 focuses on water comfort & safety. Level 2 focuses on basic skill. Fish 1 This is our basic program to help kids 4 years old and above to feel at ease in the water. We will learn how to safely enjoy the water while incorporating basic swimming skills. Fish 2 We will be focusing on freestyle: coordinating arm & leg movement, face in the water, introductory breathing and back float. Fish 3 We will focus on freestyle rotary breathing, backstroke and introduce breaststroke skills. Fish 4 Refine freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. We will introduce side stroke, treading water and butterfly. Fish 5 Objective is to refine key strokes including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. This class will also introduce Swim Team flip turns. Fish 6 Objective is to polish and perfect strokes to prepare for Swim Team. We will focus on endurance and lap swimming for all strokes including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. 3

SWIM LESSONS OVERVIEW Summer Swim Lessons Cost: Free to Members* Non-Members: $45 Priority is given to members Children must be included in a family membership to be considered a member. Non-members will automatically be placed on a wait list. Non-members have 24 hours to pay for lessons once notified space is available. There are no refunds unless class is cancelled. Other Aquatics Programs may require a fee. A parent or guardian is required to drop off and pick up children for each lesson. Parents can watch the lesson or leave the pool area and come back. The parent or guardian must remain in the facility while the lesson is given. In some cases, parents may be asked to leave the pool area so the child is more attentive to the instructors. Private Swimming Lessons Private and semi-private swim lessons are available to provide extra attention in refining or developing swimming skills and allow flexibility in working with your schedule. All ages and all levels of swimming ability are welcome to register for lessons. Registration and payment are accepted at the front desk. Please allow one week to process and match your needs with an instructor. YOUTH SWIM TEAM Youth Swim Team Ages: 6-13 June 3 - August 2 Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:30p 5:30p OR 6:00p 7:00p And Saturdays 10:00a - 11:00a Cost: Members $ 55 Code 784 Non-Members $ 155 Code 784 Sign Up Deadline: May 28 Coaches: Kelsey (T/TH 4:30 & Sat.) Mike (T/TH 6p) Our non-competitive swim team is a great way for kids to stay in shape and learn more about swimming. We work on endurance through continuous swimming focusing on stroke techniques, drills and competitive swimming fundamentals. Children must be able to complete multiple laps swimming freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and basic butterfly. *No Swim Team Saturday July 5* 8

AQUATICS PROGRAMS General Pool Information Prairie Life Fitness offers a family friendly Aquatic Facility including an indoor pool, common spa and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is open May - September and features four lanes (25 yards), a drop slide, fountains and zero depth entry. The indoor pool is 25 yards with six lanes and open yearround. Supervision is required in the pool area for all children under 13 unless the child passes a swim test and there is a lifeguard on duty. Once the child passes the swim test, a parent simply needs to remain in the facility. Courtesy Services offers clean towels and equipment to enhance your aquatic workout including kick boards, paddles and water exercise gear. Toys for the children and flotation devices are also available. Pool Hours Monday - Friday 5a- Midnight Saturday & Sunday 6a - 11p *Closed Christmas Day Summer Lifeguard Hours - Outdoor Pool Monday - Friday: 9a - 9p Sundays: Noon - 8p Saturdays: 9a - 9p Holidays: (posted) *No lifeguards are on duty for the indoor pool unless there is inclement weather. 9

Helpful Hints and Guidelines for Nursery and Youth Programs Nursery Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00a-9:00p Saturday & Sunday 8:00a-8:00p Reservations: Reservations are required for any child that is not walking or requires a considerable amount of care. Reservations can be made by contacting the nursery at 223-5999. The reservation process allows us to ensure quality care for your child. Please remember not only to call us with reservation times, but also when you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment. Sign-In Procedure: If you are new to our facility, please ask our nursery staff to show you how to use the sign-in sheet. In order for us to accurately account for the children in our care. Be sure to include all information requested including first and last name, account number, and a legible parent name Information concerning your whereabouts in the club assists us in quickly handling any emergency related situations. After Completing the sign-in sheet, we will stamp you and your child with a coordinating number. This allows us to maintain security. Also, if a spouse is to pick up children you dropped off, please be sure to let staff know and note it down on the sign-in sheet. 10

Contacting Parents: We know and understand that your workout time is valuable to you; however, there are times in which we need to notify or speak to parents about various topics. Please be sure we can read your name on the signin sheet, have your picture on file at the front desk and let us know where you might be. In trying to reach parents, we will first page you on the intercom and then we will try to locate you. We contact parents when children are distressed and we are unable to calm them. Medication: Prairie Life staff is not authorized to dispense medications. Children with specific allergies and allergy related medications should be reported to nursery staff and specific instructions shared with the nursery director. Personal Belongings: Please label all of your child s belongings. This includes diaper bags, bottles, cups, pacifiers, blankets. We want to be certain children are being comforted with the appropriate items. We ask that you leave toys and unnecessary items at home. 11

NEW Mommy s Morning Out Come join us in Youth Programs every Friday morning from 9:30a-1:00p. Have a relaxing massage, go out to lunch and maybe catch a movie with a friend. No need to worry about the kids, we will sing songs, play games, paint, and even feed the kids lunch!! Cost: Members $20.00 per child Non-Members $25.00 per child Sign up in Youth Programs Friday Fun Club Want to go out to dinner, watch a movie? Come let your child unwind in the nursery! Sign your child up to come in on Friday nights from 6:00p-9:30p every Friday. Parents Afternoon Out Need a break? Want to take an Afternoon to relax? Prairie Life Fitness Nursery has just the solution for you! Sign your child up to come in from 1:00p-4:00p on Monday and Wednesdays. The children will enjoy an afternoon of playing with their friends, watching movies, and having snacks. Cost: 1st child- $15.00 2nd child-$12.00 3rd child- $7.00 Call to reserve your spot! Tae Kwon Do Mike Taylor, who has 14 years experience from Chung Kim s Black Belt Academy, will be leading this class. This is a basic Tae Kwon Do class, you will learn a variety of basic moves along with some advanced moves. This class is for 6 years and up. YOUTH PROGRAMS Fit Kids This class is designed to get your kid fit and healthy. The Prairie Life Trainers will lead the kids through exercises, weight training, strength training and tell them about eating healthy and staying physically fit. This is a free class for members! Time: Every Tuesday at 5:00p Open Kids Gym Parents & Kids Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30p-8:30p Saturdays 2:00p-4:00p Parents must stay with their children Free for members Birthday Parties Having a Birthday? Need somewhere to Celebrate? Look no further than Prairie Life Party Room Package includes: Use of Party room, two staff members to help lead activities with the children, use of the kids gym, indoor or outdoor pool (weather permitting), rock climbing wall and basketball. YOUTH PROGRAMS Summer Camps Summer Blast Off- June 2-6 Start the summer off with all of the warm weather favorites. We will spend our days swimming, playing with sand, visiting the local parks and playing water games. We will also create some fun summer crafts and make chalk paint! A fun way to kick into summer. To Infinity and Beyond- June 9-13 Discover facts about planets and our solar system. We will spend our week learning about our planets stars and space travel, while creating rockets, glow in the dark planet maps and telescopes. Fear Factor Olympics- June 16-20 Challenge your mind and body with fantastic Fear Factor activities such as diaper doo and bobbing for kitty poo. (All products are grocery store purchased food). Challenge your body with relays, tag, obstacle courses. Be sure to sign up for this roller coaster adventure. Everyday Hero s- June 23-27 A daily visit from one of our everyday hero s will lead to crazy relay races, games of operation and a variety of hands on actvities, work with crafts and energy- burning activities. Our heroes will include Firefighters, EMT s, Police officers, US Soldiers. Proud to be an American- June 30-July 3 Kick off 4 th of July week by learning all about America and the 4th of July holiday. We ll tye dye shirts, make United States hand flags, and with some imagination use our new facts for some impromptu acting and last but not least homemade super safe (paper) fireworks. Earth Explorers- July 7-11 Create grasshead plants, dig in the dirt, and discover fossils and the many parts of the earth from tropical rainforest, to the driest desert. Your child will stay busy learning and discovering the earth. Fit Kids Boot Camp- July 14-18 Run, Jump, Crawl and play a variety of sports. This camp is sure to wear your child out. On top of all the cardio we will learn through activities about the new food pyramid and sun safety. 15

YOUTH PROGRAMS Summer Camps Con t Crazy Concoctions-July 21-25 Sure to be a hit with your future scientist or the kid who loves to see things erupt. We will be experimenting with kid safe chemical reactions. We will also be making density rainbows, lava lamps and other cool crazy concoctions. Center Stage-July 28-Aug 1 Do you have a Drama Queen or King in your life? The entire week we ll be using those drama skills for an American Idol tryout, impromptu scenes, t.v.shows to create their very own play. After a week of practice there will be a live performance for family and friends. Crazy Critters-Aug 4-8 Discover even more about your favorite insect or animal. We will go on a treasure hunt, create an animal house and learn about the habitats that make them happiest. A Little Bit of this and a Little Bit of that-aug 11-15 We ll touch on all of our summer camp themes and spend time enjoying the last few days of summer with time at the park, pool and playing some sports. Nursery staff will take them to camp and make sure they come back to the nursery at the end of the day. (There will be a $15.00 charge for late pickup) A summer shirt will be given to all children on the first day of camp. Lunch is provided for the all day camp. Please bring an extra set of clothes, swim suit, towel, and sun tan lotion. Please label all of your belongings. June 30 th -July 3 rd Proud to be an American (This camp is $48.00 for ½ day and $140.00 for full day) Any child can do full day or half day. 16
