1 Council Rock Swimming & Diving Club Registration Packet 2018-19 Swimmers & Divers 9 th Grade and up August 2018 Dear High School Prep Swimmers and Divers: Welcome to the start of the 2018-19 season of the Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club (CRSDC). This registration packet will provide you with the necessary registration dates, forms, practices schedules, and information on the upcoming season. We are all looking forward to an exciting year. The on-line registration link will be active on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Please register on-line and follow the registration procedures carefully. High school prep swimmers and divers must register by Friday, September 7, 2018 in order to participate this year. No additional registrations will be taken after the 7 th. The high school prep group allows for swimmers and divers in grades 9 th grade and above a place to train in the off season to prepare for the winter high school teams. As a member of the high school prep group, you are a full member of the Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club and are eligible to swim and dive in the age-group swim meets on Saturday mornings during the winter. Swimmers are also eligible to participate in the Council Rock Swim Club USA group which attends USA invitationals throughout the winter months. The USA group requires additional fees. Early registration is required for the USA group. Two requirements for fall 2018: 1. All swimmers must be able to complete 10x 100 on 1:40 as a minimum requirement to be in the high school prep swimming group. This is necessary to create the proper training environment for the benefit of all swimmers that are participating. 2. A physical is also required, but is not required at registration. All high school prep swimmers must submit a copy of section 6 of the official athletic department physical examination form which is included in this packet. This will need to be completed prior to participation on September 12 th. No swimmer or diver can participate without the proper physical submitted. This can be emailed to bjohnson@crsd.org or a copy can be handed in at the pool. The high school prep practices end on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Starting Friday, November 16 the winter varsity swim season will begin and those that are interested will begin to train with their high school swimming and diving teams. 2 REGISTRATION PROCEDURES High School Prep: 9 th grade and older 1. Please go to www.crsd.org/aquatics for all necessary paperwork. 2. ON-LINE REGISTRATION: All swimmers and divers must register on-line at www.crsd.org/aquatics by Friday, September 7, 2018 before 11:59pm. NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. This year we are using the Active Network registration. Please go to www.crsd.org/aquatics and click on the Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club registration link. Next click on the 9 th grade and older registration and go to the Active Network link provided on the webpage. Please follow all the directions that are included. 3. REGISTRATION FEES: Registration fees will NOT be paid on-line this year. Please write a NON-REFUNDABLE check made payable to Council Rock School District. The pool lobby doors (door 3A) will be open from 3-7pm weekdays starting Monday, August 27, 2018. This is a self-serve registration. Please place your check in the mailbox in the lobby area. Please do not drop off your deposit check prior to Monday, August 27 th. The doors will be open starting Monday, August 27. If you are unsure about your commitment to this group, please choose the twoweek trial group first and we will collect payment later. 4. GROUP CHOICES: When registering please pick from the following options. Descriptions of each are on page 2 of this brochure. a. High School Prep Swimming b. PHYSICAL/ CONCUSSION FORM: All swimmers and divers must have a physical & concussion education form turned into the aquatics office no later than Wednesday, September 12, 2018. These forms are included in this packet and are the only form approved to be used for this purpose. This can be emailed to bjohnson@crsd.org or dropped off during open registration. USA Swimming Information: Any high school prep members that want to join USA Swimming should follow the directions on the last page of this packet. If you were a member of USA Swimming for another club during 2017-18 you will need a release. Please complete the release form posted on our website and mail the form to Middle Atlantic. This is handled by the swimmers and Middle Atlantic. Early registration for USA swimming is very important so we can get into the early USA meets in the fall/ early winter.
3 COUNCIL ROCK SWIMMING AND DIVING CLUB 2018-19 Season GENERAL INFORMATION Council Rock Swimming & Diving Club (CRSDC) is a part of the Council Rock Community Aquatics Program. It is an agegroup swimming & diving team that emphasizes a balance of competitive swim/ dive training and having fun. The main focus of our program is to achieve perfect technique, while the swimmers & divers learn sportsmanship and teamwork. We compete in the Suburban Aquatic League and are a member of USA Swimming. The season runs from September until February (after championships). MISSION STATEMENT The goal of the Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club is to instruct, nurture, and encourage our athletes to high levels in the sport of swimming and diving. The coaches will provide the athletes a challenging and rewarding experience promoting hard work and commitment. Our coaches will provide leadership that builds teamwork and self-confidence. The objective of the Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club is to develop well-rounded swimmers and divers in an atmosphere of good sportsmanship and team spirit. FACILITIES The CRSDC practices at Council Rock High School- North off of Swamp Road in Newtown, Pa. The North swimming pool was renovated in 2008. Its features include a 7 lane, 25 yard competition pool; Omega timing system with 7 lane scoreboard; 2 Duraflex diving boards; desert air ventilation system and filtration equipment including ultraviolet technology. GROUP DESCRIPTIONS COUNCIL ROCK SWIMMING & DIVING CLUB 9 th Grade & above High School Prep- Swimming: The HSP-S is for those swimmers entering ninth grade and above. Led by our varsity and club coaching staff, the goal will be to develop perfect stroke technique and begin training for the winter season. Training times will be from 3:00-5:15 Monday Friday. Also, morning practices will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 5:45-6:45am with transportation needing to be provided to North in the morning. A bus is provided to return to CR-South after the AM practice. In the afternoons, transportation is provided from CR-South to North from the gym circle at South. Practice begins Wednesday, September 12, 2018 and concludes on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Swimmers in the prep group are encouraged to participate in the swim meets on Saturdays. High School Prep- Diving: The HSP-D is for those divers entering 9 th grade and above. Led by our varsity and club coaching staff, the goal will be to begin training for the winter season. Training times follow the club diving schedule. Practice begins Wednesday, September 12, 2018 and concludes on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Divers in the prep group are encouraged to participate in the swim meets on Saturdays. High School Prep- Swim or Diving (Marching Band/ Fall Sports): This designation is for the athlete that plans to swim and dive for the club, but is also committed to the marching band or a fall sport at CR North or South and will only participate in a limited number of practices during the fall training. High School Prep- Two-week trial: If you are new to competitive swimming or diving and are unsure of your commitment to the high school prep program, please register for this group first. This will provide you a two-week trial prior before paying the full fees. There are no refunds for fees paid on-line. Transportation is required for the morning practices.
SUBURBAN AQUATIC LEAGUE www.suburbanaquatic.org CRSDC is a member of the Suburban Aquatic League, which is comprised of twenty-four teams divided into four divisions, East, Central, North, and South. We compete in the East division along with Centennial, Dolphins, Lower Moreland, Penn Aquatics, and Core (Neshaminy). All dual meets are held on Saturdays with the boys and girls competing against the same team, but at opposite locations. The swimming age groups are based on the child s age as of October 31. The age groups for swimming are 8 & under, 10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under, 15 & Over. The age groups for diving are 11 & Under, 12-14, and 15 & Over. At the conclusion of the season, championship meets are held. In order to be eligible for the championships, swimmers must compete in 40% of the 5 dual meets in the East division. After registering for the high school prep group, you are automatically a member of Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club. The Saturday dual meets are a chance for the high school prep swimmers to compete during the early season which is an important part of your training. Meets that are held on Saturday mornings during November, December, and January. The contribution by our high school swimmers provides the younger swimmers with excellent role models, gives swimmers an opportunity to compete in a wider range of events, and also provides the necessary points to win meets. We have had excellent participation from the high school age swimmers and divers the last few year and their participation has made a difference. Swimmers that are interested in representing Council Rock at USA swimming meets need speak with one of the coaches to determine if it is right for them. Membership in the USA Swimming group requires additional fees including registration with Middle Atlantic Swimming and additional fees to the school district for pool usage and coaching salaries through March. Early registration is necessary for new members. Please indicate your interest in USA swimming during the on-line registration process. Athletes are to practice and compete to the best of their abilities at all times. Athletes are expected to participate in both dryland and swim training. Athletes are expected to report any suspected injuries to the coaching staff quickly. Athletes are required to speak to a coach before leaving a practice early. Athletes are not permitted to hang out in the swimming pool area or locker-room area if they are not participating. Are expected to attend 3 times per week. Athletes are to behave themselves during practice and listen to the coach s instructions. Athletes are encouraged to participate in club dual meets.

If you plan to attend the meet below, please register on-line on our website prior to the due date. No late entries are accepted. We set an early due date, since many Middle Atlantic meets fill up quickly. Host clubs charge meet entry fees per event that the swimmer registers for. Once a USA members registers for a USA meet they are required pay these meet entry fees. If the swimmer scratches from the meet, the entries fees are still charged and the swimmer is still responsible for paying the fees. All fees are paid on-line via the Active Network. All USA members must be full members of Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club. All policies included on the family registration form of the Council Rock Swim Club apply at USA practices as well as USA swimming meets. Part IV: Policies There are no refunds at any time. If the Council Rock School District closes, practice is cancelled. Please check our website if you have questions about practice. A $15.00 fee is charged for cancelled checks.
