Welcome to Albena, Bulgaria Bulgarian Federation of Radio Amateurs (BFRA) is pleased to invite ARDF teams, individual competitors, as well as visitors and guests from all over the world to the 18 th World ARDF Championships that are to be held in Bulgaria in September 2016 (a pre-event ARDF World Cup 2016 is scheduled during the week before the Championships see below). Bulgaria and more specifically the Bulgarian seaside has been the host of numerous important international ARDF competitions and we, as organizers, have always done our best so that both competitors and guests leave our country with nothing but good memories. For the 2016 World Championships we have chosen new areas, where, until this moment, ARDF competitions haven t taken place. We will do our best that the World Championships 2016 will be conducted at the highest technological level and will take special cares to satisfy all participants needs. Preliminary remarks: The following societies/countries have not yet indicated their willingness to participate in the World Championships and/or ARDF World Cup. They are kindly invited to do that as soon as possible fulfilling and sending Letter of Intent (see bellow): ARABIH Bosnia and Herzegovina, CRSA China, JARL Japan, KFRR Kazakhstan, RSM Macedonia, MRSF Mongolia, MARP Montenegro. Any other society, visitors from any other country will be welcome, too. Please contact the organizer. The latest date for acceptance of entries is June 15, 2016. More detailed information about Albena can be found here: http://albena.bg/en/pages/about-albena.html Event center: Albena, hotels Orchidea *** and Orchidea Park *** http://albena.bg/en/hotels/hotel-orchidea-albena.html The stay in hotels is on all-inclusive basis, which means accommodation, three meals per day, free drinks (such as coffee, tea, beer, wine and other alcohol drinks made in Bulgaria) between 07:30 and 23:00. There is an open summer theatre within the hotel complex where the awarding ceremonies will take place. Accommodation: The accommodations will be the hotels Orchidea *** and Orchidea Park *** that are situated near the park in the hotel complex and 800 m away from the beach (with a shuttle free of charge transportation there every 15 minutes).

Competition rules: IARU Region 1 Rules for Championships in Amateur Radio Direction Finding (Part A and Part B), version 2016, will be applied. The rest may select their final destination amongst Varna International Airport (VAR), Burgas International Airport (BOJ), or the relevant Railway Station in these towns. The price of transportation Varna Airport Albena and back by car is 100 EUR for 4 persons or less, by minibus 130 EUR for 7 persons or less, by bus 300 EUR for 34 persons or less and 340 EUR for 50 persons or less. It takes approximately 45 minutes in each direction. The price of transportation Burgas Airport Albena and back by car is 320 EUR for 4 persons or less, by minibus 380 EUR for 7 persons or less, by bus 950 EUR for 34

persons or less and 1050 EUR for 50 persons or less. It takes approximately 3 hours in each direction. For those who will arrive in Sofia International Airport it is recommended to continue to Varna or Burgas by domestic flight. Sofia International Airport is located relatively away from the venue (510 km) but in some exceptional cases (if any) BFRA can provide transfers to the venue and back upon request. Please contact the organizer. Competitions: Classic courses on both bands (2-band system), sprint and foxoring During the competition SPORTIDENT system will be used. The organizers will provide GPS tracking on strongest competitors in the categories M19, W19, M21, W21. Categories: World ARDF Championships: According to the Rules: W19, M19, W21, M21, W35, M40, W50, M50, W60, M60, and M70, ARDF World Cup 2016: W14, M14, W16, M16, W19, M19, W21, M21, W35, M40, W50, M50, W60, M60, and M70, Schedule: Previous Competition ARDF WORLD CUP 2016 August 29 September 03, 2016: The competition will be organized prior to the World Championship (as it was in 2012 in Kopaonik, Serbia) During the ARDF WORLD CUP 2016 four independent competitions will take place: Classic 3.5 MHz, Classic 144 MHz, Foxoring and Sprint. Classification in each competition will be individually only. Unlimited number participants per category/society are allowed to take part in each event. The first three competitors in each category will be awarded with medals. All competitors will get a certificate. The competitions will be held in four areas, different from the ones chosen for the World Championships. Participation in ARDF World Cup will be the best and the only officially allowed training for World Championships, because of similarly characteristics of the terrains and the usage of the same transmitters. The schedule: Monday, August 29 Arrival, Accommodation; Tuesday, August 30 Classic 3.5 MHz, Awarding; Wednesday, August 31 Classic 144 MHz Awarding; Thursday, September 01 Sprint, Awarding; Friday, September 02 Foxoring, Awarding; Saturday, September 03 Departure/Free time for participants in World Championships. 18 th ARDF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS September 03 09, 2016: The schedule: Saturday, September 03 Arrival, Accommodation, Training (Sprint and Foxoring); Sunday, September 04 Foxoring, Awarding; Monday, September 05 Sprint, Training (classics), Awarding; Tuesday, September 06 First classic, Awarding; Wednesday, September 07 Excursion, Free time; Thursday, September 08 Second classic, Awarding, Hamfest; Friday, September 09 Departure. Fees: FOR ARDF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Starting fees (including transportation to the start and from the finish, maps, hamfest): 50 EUR per competition, 200 EUR for the whole event.

Accreditation fee for non-competitors (team officials, media etc.), including transportation to the start and from the finish, maps, hamfest 50 EUR per person for the entire duration of the competition. Transportation for guests (to the start and from the finish): 5 EUR per person per competition, 20 EUR for the whole event Accommodation for competitors, officials, guests: Price on double accommodation and all-inclusive basis: accommodation, three meals, drinks (tea, cafe, juices, beer!) 35 EUR per day per person (competitors, officials, media, guests), 210 EUR for the whole event. Single accommodation and all-inclusive basis (accommodation, three meals, drinks (tea, cafe, juices, beer!) 50 EUR per day per person (competitors, officials, media, guests). 300 EUR for whole event. Total fee for competitors (including everything above): 410 EUR (double accommodation); 500 EUR (single accommodation). FOR PREVIOUS COMPETITION - ARDF WORLD CUP 2016: Starting fees (including transportation to the start and from the finish, maps): 10 EUR per competition, 40 EUR for the whole event. Transportation for guest: 5 EUR per competition, 20 EUR for the whole event. Accommodation for competitors, officials, guests: Price on double accommodation and all-inclusive basis: accommodation, three meals, drinks (tea, cafe, juices, beer!) 35 EUR per day per person (competitors, officials, media, guests), 175 EUR for the whole event. Single accommodation and all-inclusive basis: accommodation, three meals, drinks (tea, cafe, juices, beer!) 50 EUR per day per person (competitors, officials, media, guests). 250 EUR for whole event. Visa requirement: The citizens of the majority countries, expected to take part in the Championships, do no need visa to enter Bulgaria. Participants from few countries require visa to enter Bulgaria, please see: http://www.mfa.bg/uploads/files/consular/en_ordinary%20passports.pdf BFRA will assist them in obtaining free of charge entry visas. Please, contact the organizer. Маps: The maps are IOF standard, reambulated in 2015/16. Embargoed area: From the moment Bulletin 1 is published, it is forbidden to visit any forested area in the maps below. The allowed exceptions are official orienteering and ARDF events organized by Bulgarian Orienteering Federation or by BFRA.

Area for SPRINT competition for World Championships and CLASSIC for World Cup. Terrains: The terrains are located within 50-km range. The relief is mid-difficult, hilly and somewhere terraced and sliding. In some places there are deep ravines and shallow rivers. There are also places with thorn bushes, which requires competitors to be in appropriate clothing.
