Woodbridge High School Cheerleading Try-Out Information Squad Information 1 st tryout: freshman, JV & varsity football squads & basketball cheer squad. A separate try-out will be for those interested in our competition team. Squads: 1. Varsity Football Cheer: (sophomores, junior and seniors) Eligible for varsity letter 2. JV Football Cheer: (sophomores & juniors) 3. Freshman Football Cheer: (Incoming freshman only) 4. Varsity Basketball Cheer: (freshman, sophomores, juniors & seniors) 5. Varsity Competition Cheer: (freshman, sophomores, juniors & seniors) Eligible for varsity letter Students will be given a choice of team(s) they are interested in trying out for. o Students may try-out for football cheer, basketball cheer or BOTH. o Competition cheerleaders will not be eligible for basketball cheer. o Any cheerleader who does not make the competition squad will be given the option to cheer for basketball. SPIRIT Tryouts: (3 days) Clinic Dates: June 4 th Mon, June 6 th Wed: 6pm-8:30pm @ WHS Gymnasium Try-Outs: June 7 th Thursday o Once they try-out, they are free to go Round 1 arrival time: 5:45pm (DON T BE LATE!!) Round 2 arrival time: 6:45pm (DON T BE LATE!!) Football & Basketball Cheer Results Results will be posted according to the assigned number issued to each participant no names will be used o Results posted on the gym lobby door 30min-1 hour after the last group Competition Tryouts: DATE & TIME: June 13 th (Wed) 6pm 9pm @ WHS Gymnasium o Results: Cheerleaders will be told individually at the end of tryouts. WHS Cheerleader: Behavior Contract Cheerleader s Name: As student athletes, you are bound by a higher moral and behavioral code than non-athlete students. You will be responsible for conducting yourself in such a manner above and beyond the average student. If you choose to accept this responsibility, you and your guardian must sign this contract, and in doing so, you agree to abide by the consequences set forth below: This applies to behavior both in and out of school. The following violations may also result in suspension or dismissal from the team: 1. Using illegal drugs, alcohol, or tobacco at any time or engaging in illegal activity 2. Missing games, competitions or practices (unless excused by Coach) 3. Improper uniform (NO VISIBLE TATTOOS or PIERCINGS while in uniform) 4. Cutting class, school or excessive unexcused absences or tardies 5. Poor sportsmanship 6. Bullying and/or Harassment (verbal/physical/sexual/etc ) 7. Defying a teacher/administrator 8. Any unbecoming act (either in school or away from school) which, in the opinion of the coach and school administration, warrants suspension or removal from the squad 9. Electronic COMMUNICATION and IMAGES (email, text, Instagram, Twitter etc.) should be positive. If it is negative and/or inappropriate, don t post it!! a. You will receive ONLY 1 warning unless the offense is severe then you WILL BE REMOVED FROM ALL SQUADS Consequences: 1. Lunch Detention = Suspension from half game and/or 1 st Strike for Comp Squad 2. ACS = Suspension from full game & permanently removed from half-time routine and/or 1 st Strike for Comp Squad 3. ANY 2 suspensions from games and/or activities will result in removal from all cheer teams. 4. All teams will operate on a 2 strike policy 5. Any Out of School Suspensions will result in removal of all squads Attendance Policy: 1 & 2 are not punishments but rather school policy. 1. Absent day of game/practice/activity: No participation - No exceptions 2. Absent last practice prior to game / competition: No participation - Subject to exceptions (example: funeral cheerleader may only be removed from halftime) 3. Jobs, Sweet16 & other Birthdays, Vacations etc. are unexcused absences subject to suspension from following game and/or permanent removal from halftime routine.
