Group 1 Phil Martello, Doug Morgan, Zach Swan, Adam Vogel 3/22/11 Sole Influence 1) Site Map HOME Why Athletes Wear Nike Impact on AAU Athletics Impact on Collegiate Athletics Effect of Business Sponsorship

Our website will be designed in a manner that is user friendly but also very informative. The homepage will highlight the primary subjects identified in Sole Influence (via focal point), but more importantly it will portray a summary of the book and offer navigation to the important components of the research. Additionally, the navigation will allow for an in- depth understanding of the issues at hand. As you can see the third navigation entitled Impact on Collegiate Athletics has a supplementary stem, which delves into the Effect of Business Sponsorship. It is our belief that this configuration will allow the information to be presented both clear and concise to web page users. 2) Personas Jim smith 40, Male, Married Profession: Company advisor for Digital Media Intel Inc. Personal Background: Played sports as a kid and for a little bit in college. Majored in Business at Syracuse University. He is constantly busy with work and his summers and weekends are filled with his two sons playing basketball all the time. He is constantly wearing a suit but on the weekends he will usually be wearing wind pants. Goals: Jim wants to find information regarding sponsors. He is a proud parent of his sons who are athletic basketball players. Jim needs to know that whatever sponsorships his sons are getting are legal and what those sponsors can legally do. He uses our site to find information on common myths and the truth behind what is really going on at his son s AAU tournaments and their team s sponsors. Internet Profile: AT work he is constantly using the Internet through his laptop and cell phone. Usually spending close 40 hours a week online. Doing research for his company and keeping them update with competing companies. Coaches and puts on multiple summer basketball camps and attends training camps for coaches. Wants and needs: Wants information for himself about what things high school teams can except from sponsors. 3) Content Map The content that will be on the homepage is as follows: Logo- The logo which will read Sole Influence will allow the websites user to relate the context of the website to the book which is covered in the research. The logo will be visually appealing and eye- catching, but not dominate over the focal point. Focal Point- The focal point will consist of a flash of the athletes depicted in the research. Each photo will contain the brand of shoe in which the respective athlete is sponsored by. Captions will be used on each photo to highlight this brand more effectively. By recognizing the players in the study through photographs on our homepage, it will better link the research to the website. (Subjects will include: Freddy Adu, LeBron James, Shaquille O Neal, Michael Jordan, Peyton Manning and Reggie Bush). Navigation- Navigation will then be used to steer the user through the website and visit the components most prevalent to the study. Each link will highlight a different myth covered in the research, including: Why Athletes Wear Nike; Impact on AAU Athletics, Impact on Collegiate Athletics (with a sub- link Effect of Business Sponsorship). If time permits we will also include navigation that introduces each individual designer in our group. Overview- On our home page we will provide a brief overview/summary in regards to the context of our research. With that said we will ensure a steady balance of text, but not so much that it compromises the homepage (tabbing could be used to increase effectiveness).

Book Link- We will include a link on the homepage to an online version of the book: http://books.google.com/books?id=asz_s1ovm_mc&printsec=frontcover&dq=s ole+influence&source=bl&ots=53opt2y3_t&sig=ciqc_4nzl2gejpuaoeo- ngok534&hl=en&ei=l0qktcvqf5cj0qgu5dzwdq&sa=x&oi=book_result&ct=res ult&resnum=4&ved=0cdmq6aewaw#v=onepage&q&f=false 4) Color Scheme - Black, White as the main colors as well as gold as an accent.

5) Visual Examples What we would like to accomplish with our website is something waterworks.com did very well. The usage of the main focal image is something we would like to duplicate as well as the various pictures is a goal of ours too.

What works about gomedia.us is the large background image as well as the text that is placed over it. While we haven t decided about a vertical or horizontal navigation scheme yet, both the sites we saw used each of them effectively. The usage of the black in the navigations over the image is something we would like to do as well. 6) Wireframes Wire Frame #1: We want to make a picture our focal point on the website and potentially make it in black and white and overlay it on one side with a quote from the book. The content underneath the picture will serve as a place for us to feature some information on the homepage and tuck the rest of the text in the navigation on the top. It got cut off in the picture, but the logo for our sit will rest on the top left of the navigation bar.

Wire Frame #2: This idea incorporates some of the same features as the first frame but with an alteration to the Navigation on the left. The focal point is still on the pictures we choose and the placement of the navigation will break up the horizontal lines that were evident in the first frame. The middle content will feature stories and text from our sports group. Were going to use pictures to link to stories and additional content.
