HOW DO WE DO IT? Building/Maintaining Volunteer Network Key points 1. Give back to our members 2. Club Culture Empowering, Fun, Giving 3. Generations of Families
1. GIVE BACK TO OUR MEMBERS Volunteer Thank you Gifts at end of season Round of applause for volunteers every 6pm presentations Commodore s Award Free Family Fun Days
2. CLUB CULTURE Embracing of individuals passions E.g. Boxing and Brad Devine E.g. Archives and Dixie Moore Mentality: People have given their time in the past for me I now need to do the same Gratitude vs Gratuity Especially for coaching Reciprocal relationships You get coached and then you become the coach You race and then you become you race starter Careful selection of classes to suit our membership
3. GENERATIONS OF FAMILIES 3 rd or 4 th generation families All sailors Club is our family Ownership, belonging
SUMMARY PDSC has been 100% volunteer run for 115 years Strong culture of volunteering established through multiple generations You get out what you put in Sailing should be fun, not winning Olympic Medals Gratitude goes a long way Important to empower members Neighbouring clubs need to work together
