Being located in the nation s sixth-largest media market means California basketball plays its games on one of the largest stages in the country. Included within the borders of the Pacific-10 Conference are six of America s top 25 television markets and some of the most prominent daily newspapers in the United States. During the 2005-06 season, the Golden Bears were on television 25 times, including appearances on ESPN, ABC, CBS, Fox Sports Net, CSTV and Comcast SportsNet. Every road game was broadcast live, giving fans the opportunity to watch each time Cal played away from home. The Bears will be another popular television choice in 06-07, as Cal is slated to be seen on wide array of networks. In addition, the Bears receive regular newspaper coverage throughout the Bay Area, most prominently in the San Francisco Chronicle, Contra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune. National print media also focus their attention on the team, with feature stories on Cal appearing in such publications as Sports Illustrated, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times and the New York Daily News last year alone. 2006 VOLLEYBALL MEDIA GUIDE 2006-07 California Golden Bears Men s Basketball Media Guide 15 15
