ACE/After Class Enrichment Course Information Soccer STUDS September 12 November 7 (grades LE-K) *ACE will not run on September 5 th Join in on this introductory mini soccer studs ACE program. This fun and exciting beginner soccer program will allow students to work on basic skill work such as dribbling, throw-ins, shooting and teamwork. Each session, students will work with their instructor on skills and incorporate drills as well. At the end of each session, students will have opportunities to scrimmage, and work on their skill development by playing games such as Cross the Ocean, Red Light-Green Light, and Soccer, Soccer, Soccer BALL. Instructor: Mike Valentino, CFA Parent and Robbin Nelson CFA Account Specialist and past ACE instructor Soccer STARZ September 12 November 7 (grades 1-3)*ACE will not run on September 5 th Dribble, Shoot, Score on this ACE program! This introductory soccer program is a fun opportunity for any skill level to come out to learn soccer skills and work on drills. Each week, students will focus on certain skills and will bring their knowledge to the field. Sportsmanship, specific drills, and focus on the game are just a few skills and tactics that students will learn. Each session will end in a scrimmage for students to use sportsmanship and show respect on the field. Instructor: Ashley Wall, CFA parent and past ACE instructor Check.Mate Chess 101 September 12- November 7 (grades 2-5) *ACE will not run on September 5 th Join in on the fun in this weekly beginner chess program where students will play chess with each other and work on chess skills and tactics. Students will challenge each other and learn from others as well. Thinking, practicing good sportsmanship, and having fun is the name of this.chess GAME! Students of all levels are welcomed and, each week, students will work on problem solving, how to win graciously, and how not to give up when encountering defeat. *This is an introductory chess program however any level is welcome to participate $105 9 weeks (limit 12 students/ 5 minimum)

Flag Football 101: Grab and GO September 12 November 7 (grades 4-5) *ACE will not run on September 5 th Defense Offense Possession Tackle makes for a TOUCHDOWN of a program for those eager to learn and play the game of Flag Football! This introductory program will help teach athletes the basic fundamentals and skills needed to be successful in the sport. Each week, students will participate in different stations focusing on various skills such as positions, ball handling, defensive tactics, kicking, snapping, and more. To end each afternoon, students will have the opportunity to participate in a scrimmage to practice their skills on the field. Instructor: Gene Whipple, CFA Systems Administrator Basketball Beauties September 12 November 7 (grades 4-5)*ACE will not run on September 5 th Calling all the ladies to join in on basketball fun! Each week ladies will dribble, shoot and SCORE on this fun and active basketball program. Lady athletes will focus on drills to help with coordination, skill work to help improve the game, work on competitive opportunities to use throughout the session and teamwork to guide the gals into the true meaning of the sport. Ready, set.go further! Instructor: Michele Whipple, CFA Alumnus and CFA Volleyball coach Tuesday Mini Monets: Young Artists at Work September 6- November 8 (LE-1) *This program is 45 minutes. Come join in on all the artistic fun! This creative children s art program is for young artists who are looking to explore new mediums and nurture their creativity through guided and selfdirected projects. Students will use their imagination and artistic talents to create individual pieces of art. This session will offer new projects and creations! Instructor: Jennie Wenk, Mini Monets owner $120 10 weeks (limit 15 students/2 minimum)

Tuesday Tiny Tennis Tikes September 6 November 8 (grades LE-K) Calling all future tennis stars! This introductory and basic skill learning tennis program will allow students to work on the game of tennis all while having fun. Serves, proper hitting techniques and positioning are just a few skills athletes will work on. Students will work with appropriate tennis balls and equipment and will begin to advance to the bigger nets by the end of the course. Each week, students will learn new skills and will be able to incorporate them in appropriate drills at the end of the day CFA has a limited number of tennis racquets for this age. If your child has a racquet please have him/her bring his/her racquet. Instructor: Matt Whitt, UNCW Student and Summer Programs instructor $115 10 weeks (limit 12 students/ 5 minimum) Tuesday Green Thumb Guru s September 6 November 8 (grades 1-3) Calling all plant, vegetable, and eco-friendly, environmentally savvy, salt of the earth fanatics! This program will allow future botanists who are interested in the environment and all areas of nature to explore the operation side of a greenhouse, the growing and tending of a garden, eco-friendly tips to having a lush garden, and the propagation of plants and more. Students will learn about the life cycle of plants, natural environments, and even create fun crafts, such as creating their very own mini greenhouses, designing their own flower pots, and even growing vegetables. This program is sure to make everyone GREEN with envy! $120 10 weeks (limit 12 students/ 5 minimum) Tuesday Tennis Tuesday September 6- November 8 (grades 4-5) Athletes unite for this tennis program offered for all levels. Students will work in groups of their particular skill level to improve on serves, hits, and positions. Students will learn the rules of the game, work on teamwork and sportsmanship all while having fun. Each week is an opportunity for improvement of each athlete s skill level. Character-building will also come into play as students improve on their game. Specific drills each week will help enhance skill development and the game of tennis. Wednesday Disney Darlings September 7 - November 9 (grades LE-K) Get ready, Disney Darlings! Each week will be filled with dazzling Disney characters, crafts, snacks, and MORE! Your Disney darling will not want to miss each week s different Disney themes, including Under the Sea crafts, FROZEN treats, CARS speeding past Lightening McQueen, creating Mickey and Mini ears, and even getting Tangled with Rapunzel and Flynn. Whether a Beauty or a Beast, this is one fun program that is not to be missed! $125 10 weeks (limit 10 students/ 5 minimum) Wednesday Wimbledon Wednesday September 7 November 9 (grades 1-3) Wednesday athletes unite! Students will join in on the fun in this tennis program offered for all levels. Each week, students will work in groups of their particular skill level to improve on serves, hits, and positions. Sportsmanship and character-building will also come into play as students improve on their game. Students will work on drills each week to help enhance their skill development and game of tennis. Each student must bring his/her own racquet. Instructors: Howard Jenkins, Pine Valley Country Club Tennis Coach and Instructor $115 10 weeks (limit 12 students/5 minimum) Wednesday Girl Power September 7 - November 9 (grades 2-5) Join Girl Power to strengthen your running skills, boost confidence, and think positively. Girl Power will not only provide runners with strategies and tips to ensure success with running, but will also incorporate discussions on self-confidence, optimistic attitudes, and making healthy choices. The girls will make new friends, create tie-dye shirts, and keep track of their mileage! Girls will enhance their girl power and discover a love for running and themselves. Girl Power runners will train for a 5K (3.1 mile) race throughout the ACE session and will run their 5K on campus the last day of ACE. Get those running shoes tied and join Girl Power today! Wednesday Soccer Spherical Sensation September 7 November 9 (grades 4-5) Dribble, Shoot, Score.on this fun soccer program. Athletes will gather each week to work on drills, compete, play and have fun. Teamwork and sportsmanship will be brought to the field as players learn about positions, rules, defense, offense and more. This soccer program is open for all skill levels and the GOAL is to improve on the game all while having fun. Each week a short scrimmage will take place at the end to practice what was learned from the day. Instructor: Kyle Heath, CFA Database Administrator and CFA Soccer Coach $115 10 weeks (limit 12 students/ 5 minimum) Thursday Little Lego Friends Free building September 8- November 10 (grades LE-1) Lego lovers let your imagination run free..to build! Each week students will have the opportunity to use his/her creativity to build and create Lego creations. Students will work on his/her own to create masterpieces or may choose to work in a group to create an out of this world masterpiece. Builders will have several opportunities to use special sets such as Lego Friends, Minecraft and Star Wars to work on as well to create unique and challenging sets. Each week will be different and builders will also have the opportunity to create a Lego t-shirt, make and take a fun Lego snack and even make Lego themed crafts. Let your imagination run free! Instructor: Erin Sullivan, UNCW student and past ACE instructor $120 10 weeks (limit 12 students/5 minimum) Thursday Jewels and Gems OH LA LA. September 8 - November 10 (grades 1-4) Mirror, Mirror on the wall - who has the prettiest jewelry of all? Each week, students will make pieces of jewelry that they wear out on the town! Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings are just a few pieces of jewelry that these little gems will be making. And don t forgot that there must be a jewelry bag to hold all these treasures, so all will make a unique bag during the session. This program will be the talk of CFA! $125 10 weeks (limit 12 students/5 minimum)

Thursday WACKATHLETES: Conditioning, Strength and More September 8 - November 10 (grades 2-5) Calling all wacky, wild, and energetic individuals at heart! This jam-packed hour will be filled with strength, conditioning, and more. Students will learn proper stretching techniques, how to refuel after a long workout or big game, how to incorporate core work with athletic moves, healthy habits, cardio strength and more. Students will study healthy eating habits and even create healthy snacks several times throughout the session. Upbeat music will guide students through stations and learning techniques so that each week something new and exciting will be learned.
