Public Service Announcement Charity Game PSA For the first time ever a professional football team is coming to Farmville and it is going to be at Longwood University. On November 1st at 1pm -5pm the Jacksonville Jaguars football team will be in town to play an inter squad scrimmage charity game. All proceeds and ticket sales will go towards benefiting St. Jude s hospital research for children s cancer. You will also be able to meet and greet the players after the game as well. So come out and be a part of history as for the first time ever a professional football team will be here at Longwood. Backgrounder NFL Franchise Coming to Longwood University Overview: The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming to Longwood University for the first time ever for their inter squad charity football game. This event has had tons of success in the past as all ticket sales and proceeds go to St. Jude s research hospital. There will also be a fan zone where fans can get autographs from the
players. Fans will also be able to participate in different events lined up for them, such as QB toss, wide receiver catch, RB runner. Also fans will be able to watch the Jaguars play against each other. There will also be concessions there as well. You can do all of these things for an entry fee of just $8. Jacksonville Jaguars: The Jacksonville Jaguars were established in 1993 and became an active franchise in 1995. They are one of the last teams to be expanded into the National Football League. They are located in Jacksonville, Florida. One of their biggest accomplishments as a franchise happened in 2007 when they beat one of the most storied franchises in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs to advance to the next round. This organization is a young and up and coming franchise that has a bright future. Mission: The mission for this event is a chance to give back to the kids of America that are less fortunate than we are. The Jaguars have been doing this for 10 years and it has been a success every year. This gives the Jaguars an opportunity to not just give back to a foundation like St. Jude s hospital but also increase their fan base around the world. They hope to raise over $8,000 this year and that they can bring people from not just Farmville but all over Virginia and its neighboring states that will come out and support as well. St. Jude s hospital helps with cancer research for children and getting more money them helping them is the mission for this game. Everyone is encouraged to go and watch this event. The game will take place at the Lancer Park Football Field and all proceeds will go to St. Jude s research for children s cancer. The game will begin at The gates will be open at 1pm and the game will start at 1:30pm. It costs $8 to get in to the game. There will be concessions there as well as a fan zone where fans can par take in fun games. At the game end of game the players will hold an autograph session for the fans and the fans will also be able to take pictures with the players as well. St. Jude s Hospital is known for children who have cancer. All of the proceeds to this event will go to the people there helping with and conducting the research to help the kids out as much as they can and try to find a cure for this disease.
Jacksonville Jaguars and Longwood University: This will be the first time a major event like this will be held at Longwood University and it should be a huge success. A huge NFL team like the Jaguars should produce a nice turn out for the fans and it should be fun for everyone involved.
