As always, if you know of any young person (male or female, age 8 and up) who would like to try competitive rifle shooting, have them contact Gary Trisdale at 303-367- 8733 or at gtrisdale@earthlink.net. No experienced required and no equipment needed to start. Their parents do not need to be members of Cherry Creek Gun Club. TUBE MAINTENANCE HELP: Volunteers for Help in the Rifle Tube are needed. Any Member/s interested please contact Lee Eihausen at: 303-751-6823. This help will count toward your Work Bond Hours. ALL MEMBERS: Please be advised that the 2008 MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS were mailed out on Dec14 th. Be sure the following information is correct as shown on your Renewal: Address, Phone, E-mail Address, NRA number and expiration date. If this information is incorrect please show correct information in the space provided. Deadline to return your Renewal along with your annual membership fees is March 1, 2008. Fees and completed Renewewal form not returned by this date will cause an interruption of your access to the Club facilities. President/CCGC

NRA Conventional Rifle Sectionals The NRA Sectionals are major matches that are shot at several locations throughout the country. The NRA takes the results of these local matches and produces a national result bulletin. Six of our juniors participated; Megan English, Bobby Oberle, Joe Oberle, Tim Sherry, Chiara Trisdale and Samantha Trisdale In addition 2 of our former juniors also shot; Taylor Beard (shooting at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks) and Aaron Routh (Dennis Fluman s grandson). Also attending were 4 other member of the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Rifle Team. This is one of the top teams in college today. In 3-position smallbore, Megan English won the Bronze medal, Aaron Routh was 2 nd Master, Samantha Trisdale was 1 st Sharpshooter and Bobby Oberle was 2 nd Sharpshooter. In 4 position smallbore, Aaron Routh won the Gold medal and Bobby Oberle was 1 st Sharpshooter. The Cherry Creek team won both team matches. January PTO at OTC The juniors shot a Preliminary Tryout Match at the OTC in early January. The scores from PTOs are used to determine who can shoot at National Championships and at Olympic Trials. We had 5 juniors attend the match; Megan English, Ross Sagehorn, Tim Sherry, Chiara Trisdale and Samantha Trisdale. In air rifle, Megan, Samantha, and Chiara took the first 3 junior women positions, with Megan shooting an excellent score of 392 out of 400. Tim Sherry won the men s air rifle with a score of 571 out of 600. In smallbore, Megan was first with a 573 (out of 600), followed by Samantha, Tim, Chiara and Ross. Colorado Junior Olympic Shooting Championships This match determines who gets invited to the National Junior Olympics. Megan English, Nick Handy, Bobby Oberle, Joe Oberle, Ross Sagehorn, Tim Sherry, Chiara Trisdale and Samantha Trisdale all attended. In women s air rifle, Megan was 1 st (with a 394 out of 400), Samantha was 3 rd and Chiara was 4 th. In men s air rifle, Tim was 3 rd and Bobby was 6 th. In women s 3-p smallbore, Megan was 1 st (with a 570), Sam was 2 nd (with a 569), and Chiara was 4 th. In men s smallbore, Bobby was 4 th and Tim was 5 th. Megan received an automatic invite to the National Junior Olympics in both air rifle and smallbore; and Samantha received an automatic invite in smallbore. The rest of the juniors will have to wait until February, when the rest of the invitations are sent out.

CHERRY CREEK GUN CLUB GENERAL MEETING MINUTES January 11, 2008 1. The meeting was called to order by George Wright at 7:00 PM followed by the pledge to the flag. 2. The minutes to the last general meeting were approved. 3. Clark Calve is holding nine membership card pending the new members taking the safety course. 4. Don Shearer reported that there is one veteran from the Veterans Administration who is interested in shooting. A meeting is pending. 5. Don Eyser said that the next work party is on January 19 at 8 AM. 6. Art Thayer reported that all rejects of the mailing of the newsletter have been recorded and will be fixed. The rifle tube qualification session will be next Friday. Sign up, please. 7. Gary Trisdale reported a very busy month for the Juniors. They shot one match where two juniors shot their personal best and there are two more matches on the next two weekends. 8. Lee Ormiston said that the Colorado legislature has one bill concerning firearms pending, HB 08-1066. The Congress has 107 bills pending with the word firearms in them. Twenty seven of them are good with one of them to clean up the NCIS system. 9. Bill Collins will be getting together with Art Thayer to work on the web site. Bill will also monitor the phone messages. 10. George Wright is trying to set up a meeting to resolve the club s casualty insurance questions. 11. George Wright introduced six applicants for membership. Each applicant talked of their interest in the club and all were accepted into the club by unanimous vote. The new members are: Ian Hamilton, Terry Mueller, Gregory Kent, Scott Gohr, Guy Johnson and Chris Loving. All will be taking the safety course. 12. A member asked about the validity of sending a club member to the NRA annual meeting. 13. A request was made to get janitors for the months of June through December. 14. The replacement of the target angle pieces was discussed. 15. A request was made for someone to make access keys. Blanks are available. 16. An additional prospective new member was introduced and accepted into the club. The new member is Douglas D Josey. 17. The meeting was adjourned at 7:34 PM.

CHERRY CREEK GUN CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING January 25, 2008 Attendees: Wright, Eihausen, Collins, Calve, Thayer, Orminston, the Henry s, Bierbach and guests. 1. The meeting was called to order by George Wright at 7:00 PM followed by the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the U. S. of A. 3. The minutes to the last board meeting were approved as published. 4. Clark Calve is now holding one new member s entry card pending the new member taking the safety course. 5. Lee Eihausen reported that the club is in good financial standing. 6. Lee Orminston reported all Colorado bills are available at http://www.leg.state.co.us/ 7. Colorado SB08049 is in the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. This bill would mandate storage in the home. Colorado HB081066 is in the Judiciary committee. This bill expands rights of a person to defend himself from an intruder in his place of business. Federal: there are approx. 107 bills in committee, or which about 20 may be good bills. 8. George Wright said that nor price received yet for causualty insurance. 9. Bill Bierbach was accepting nine new applications tonight. 10. George Wright said that the Civic is on hold at this time. 11. Don Shearer reported that the Veteran s (Air Gun) is on hold at this time. 12. Don Shearer and George Wright reported that the Annual Meeting of the NRA will be held in May in Louisville, KY. There are multiple, concurrent sessions of specific interest to the Club. Following a previous vote to attend the meeting, the Board voted to send Don Shearer and Art Thayer. Travel and lodging for both are expected to be around $900. They will report to the Board with specific information as the date approaches. 13. George Wright reported that Steve Wilson will no longer be handling the distribution of the hardcopy of the newsletter. He is being transferred out of state and will be leaving the Club. Don Eyser will take over the printing and mailing ( there are about 90 hardcopies of the newsletter sent each month.) 14. George Wright reported that the Club will have to pay income tax on interest earned in 2007 if the money is not reinvested in the Club. George is looking at the possible worthwhile items such as a HEPA vacuum for range floor cleanup. He will report to the Board next month. Tom Rodriguez will also be available then to further explain the tax information. 15. Don Eyser requested use of one pistol position on Sunday (Jan.27 th ) at 12:30PM for Hunter Education. This was granted. 16. Dennis Young requested use of two pistol positions on Sunday(Jan.27 th ) at 2:00PM. This was granted. 17. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45PM.
