The Jefferson Shooter Official publication of The Jefferson State Shooting Association Inc. APRIL 2017 JSSA P.O. Box 7178 Klamath Falls, Or. 97602 YOUR LOCAL SHOOTING SPORTS ASSOCIATION JSSA GUN SHOW APRIL 29-30 ACCIDENTAL GUN DEATHS NEW LOW! The National safety Council has published the latest figures of accidental gun deaths and between 2014 and 2015 accidental firearms fatalities were 489 even though gun sales were at an all time high in the Obama years. The figures reflect results of the legitimate gun safety programs of the various pro gun organizations as opposed to the political mumbo jumbo touted by gun prohibitionists. Attempting to minimize the significance of the efforts of safety instruction the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence said that 20% of the total were minors and that this was still far too many. Normally they would contend that way too many children (those under 14) were the victims of accidental shootings but in this case using minors (those under 18) gave a total number about twice as high. This in keeping with their political numbers games. COMING ACTIVITIES USPSA APRIL 2ND MULTIGUN APRIL 23RD GUN SHOW APRIL 29TH & 30TH. Affiliated with the National Rifle Association of America, Oregon State Shooting Association, Civilian Marksmanship Program Member, Oregon Association of Shooting Ranges Editor-Floyd Hancock MORE ANTI-GUN GARBAGE! A bill that would cause a persons firearms to be confiscated without due process has been introduced in the Oregon Legislature Senate bill 868 is titled Process for an Extreme Risk Protective Order and would permit most any family member, present or past household member, law enforcement agency or any Petitioner to file for an Extreme Risk Protective Order if the person violated a stalking order or threatened violence against a family member or was convicted of brandishing a firearm. Also an order could be sought for the following: an offense of animal cruelty or an offense against a family member or even if a person has attempted to purchase a firearm in the last 180 days, committed an offense of cruelty to animals. The above action would be carried out without the presence of the person against whom the order is being sought thus violating his constitutional right to due process. Another bill SB1026 would mandate locking up firearms if they were accessible to a minor. Ignoring responsible gun owners who develop their own firearms storage and safety programs by their unique situations the bills author seeks to deny a persons self defense strategies for purely political reasons and have no bearing on firearm safety but will deny any means of defensive firearms use in an emergency. As a sidelight, the bills senate author is one of those state legislators shuffled into office by campaign donations from Bloomberg s Everytown For Gun Safety (control) last legislative session and that had a hand in passing the universal background check here in Oregon that the majority of state Sheriffs refuse to enforce. I said bring an extra shotgun and the Kleins came prepared, well done. the last stage was a little crazy and a whole bunch of shooting. We had a little slow start/late arrivals, but everyone helped out and we got split up and caught up. I want to say Thank You to everyone that helps setup and tear down and RO and Score keep. You are the guys that match the matches work. Thank You! That was the last mixed steel match of the 2 year. The 3-gun season will start April 23rd. I don t plan on using 3 gun nation this year( probably just the remaining targets). I was looking into the outlaw 3-gun challenge rules ( mgm iron man, NW multigun, Hard as hell). I like a little more variety in targets and presentations. In going with the theme from the last match and to help ease the work load of the poor souls that volunteer to help me. I am going to start with a 3 stage match, 2 separate stages and then combine to make the 3rd stage. Nothing terribly complicated but more rounds per stage and then a monster combined stage. The resets will be fast and preload/staging areas will speed things up. I hope to see you April 23, for our first match. We will be having matches April 23, June 25, August 27, and Oct 22. I will give updates for each match as they get closer. We will again be serving lunch at the April 23rd Multigun match and match particulars and round count can be had by contacting Josh at 541-883-7635 Have a great day Josh ******************************* John Schreiner won the raffle at the March meeting. **************************** Park Report: Phil reported the annual usage report for the park as 13064 visits, which is up from 2016, and nearly double since 2008. The pistol range had 3147 users, the 200 had 3685 users, and the 600 had 2765 users. Dennis has returned and is getting around pretty good. The 600 yd range has been drained and both it and the 200 are in need of rock.
