Coach Morris was named head basketball coach in the summer of 2007. After taking over a team that won five games in 2006-2007 season, Coach Morris posted the first winning season for the Trojans with 16 wins and 12 losses. The Trojans completed their first back to back winning seasons since the 2000-2003 in 2008 when the Trojans posted a record of 19-6. The 2007-2008 team consisted of a number of great athletes including Blaise White, who has been a three year starter at Birmingham Southern University, as well as, football standouts Phillip Lutzenkirchen of Auburn and Hutson Mason of the University of Georgia. The 2010-2011 season saw the Trojans earn their first playoff berth since 2003-2004 and the 4 th in school history. He is a native of Greenville, Kentucky, where he played high school basketball at Muhlenberg South High School. Coach Morris graduated as the school s all time leading scorer and rebounder, which led to him being named All-State in Kentucky for the 1995-1996 and the 1996-1997 seasons. He was named a participant on the Kentucky junior all-star team based on his accomplishments at Muhlenberg South. Coach Morris continued his playing career at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where he captained the team his junior and senior seasons. Upon graduation, Coach Morris joined the Lassiter Basketball and Baseball programs as an assistant in 2001. As a member of the baseball coaching staff, he served as the junior varsity coach and varsity pitching coach where he contributed to the 2006 State Championship team. CHEROKEE..Lassiter traveled to Canton and lost a tight contest to the home Warriors..it was back and forth all game with no team leading by more than about 5 points.the Trojans had the ball late in regulation and also in overtime, but the Cherokee defense caused a couple turnovers and gave themselves a chance to win..in overtime, Cherokee forced a turnover with about 8 seconds left and they drove down to their free throw line and drained a jumper as the buzzer sounded..lassiter scoring leaders were Niles Clark with 21 points and Justin Hahn, who had 18 points and 6 rebounds...this loss elevates the importance of Friday s game vs. Walton as the winner will have a head up on the #3 seed for the region tournament. WHAT to LOOK for THIS WEEK WALTON...the Trojans will host the Raiders at the end of the week and try to make it a regular season sweep over Walton...the first game was a thriller that came down to a couple clutch plays by Juwan Dickey with under a minute to go.lassiter dominated the second and fourth quarters to pull out the three point victory.three Trojans scored in double digits in the first meeting...the key on defense will be how well Lassiter can contain guard Rico Overall, who had 18 points in the previous game...also, Hahn and Dickey will have thier hands full in the paint with big man, Shawn Morgan, who finished with 17 last time..look for a big crowd at the Trojan House as this year has already seen the Raiders and Trojans hook up for at least three thrilling contests spanning both the fall and winter sports seasons..
