TV: Pac-12 Networks (Mike Wolf & Kara Lentz) Opponent Web: www.denverpioneers.com LOS ANGELES With five games left on the regular-season schedule, the USC women s lacrosse team (8-3, 4-0 MPSF) looks to build some momentum as it pushes towards the MPSF tournament. The Women of Troy play the last two home games on their schedule this weekend and will host Colorado (6-4, 1-2) at McAlister Field on Friday, April 10, at 3 p.m. PT. The Trojans then take on defending league champion Denver (7-3, 2-1) at noon on Sunday, April 12, in a game that will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks with Mike Wolf and Kara Lentz on the call. USC will honor its senior class before the Denver game. The Trojans are off to their best start in a short three-year history and recently logged a program-best seven-game winning streak. Despite having to play four of its last six games on the road, USC has the benefit of home field for a pair of pivotal games against the Buffaloes and Pioneers. The Women of Troy can rewrite some history with victories this weekend. USC is 0-4 in games against Colorado and Denver. In 2013, the Trojans fell twice to the Pioneers: once at home, and once in Eugene, Ore., in the quarterfinals of the MPSF tournament. A trip to the Rocky Mountains yielded heartbreaking results in 2014 as the first-year Buffaloes won on a last-second shot in overtime to seal a 12-11 victory. Two days later, the Pioneers stalled to kill the clock on an 8-7 win. Prior to the trip, USC was 5-0 in MPSF games and endured a three-game losing streak before closing the conference season with a stunning win over Stanford. In three MPSF home games, USC has outscored its opponents, 55-18, and holds a 54-24 edge in the center circle. The Trojans have defeated Fresno State (17-6), California (18-5), and Saint Mary s College (20-7) in league contests at McAlister Field. The Women of Troy have controlled the tempo against league foes to the tune of a 30.0 to 12.8 shots per game differential. The Trojans offense is led by junior attacker Caroline de Lyra, who has 45 points (23g, 22a). De Lyra ranks first in points (4.09 ppg) in the MPSF and is second for assists (2.00 apg). Sophomore attacker Michaela Michael is the MPSF draw control leader with 69 (6.27 dcpg) and has 30 goals and six assists this season. Junior midfielder Amanda Johansen was named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week and has 27 goals with six assists and 35 draw controls. Attacker Kylie Drexel has produced 25 points (14g, 11a) in a breakout sophomore season. Defensively, junior Courtney Tarleton leads a stingy Trojan backline with 12 caused turnovers and has 15 ground balls. Freshman goalie Gussie Johns tops all Trojans with 28 ground balls and has produced 44 saves (.352) with a 8.02 goals-against average that leads the MPSF and ranks 15th in the country.

Thanks to a $150,000 donation from Hobart and Soni McAlister, a new field was built on the corner of 30th and Hoover in 1998. The field served as the home of USC soccer for 14 years before lacrosse was added as USC s 21st varsity sport in 2012. In 2000, a permanent scoreboard was installed, and in 2012, the field was moved eastward to accommodate the planned construction of a new fire station. USC lacrosse is 13-8 (.619) on McAlister Field since the 2013 season. The Women of Troy have hosted one home game at the LA Memorial Coliseum in each of the program s first three seasons and are 1-2 in the historic venue.

USC Head Coach Lindsey Munday One of the most accomplished collegiate women s lacrosse players in the history of the sport, Lindsey Munday was handpicked to lead the first-ever USC women s lacrosse team. She was officially hired on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. Munday s mantle includes a pair of NCAA titles won as a player with the Northwestern program in 2005 and 2006. She then became an assistant at NU where she helped the Wildcats to another three titles from 2007-09. A member of the 2009 US women s national team where she earned All-World recognition with 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points in seven games. Munday captained the 2013 US national team to a record seventh FIL World Cup title and added nine goals and 15 assists to her international career totals. 26 years old when she was chosen to head the Women of Troy, Munday has compiled a 25-22 (.532) overall record at USC and has guided the Trojans to two consecutive MPSF tournament appearances. She arrived after a brief stint as the head coach at Mount St. Mary s in Maryland. In her first season on campus, she exceeded the expectations of fellow MPSF coaches and took the Trojans to a fourth-place finish and an appearance in the league tourney after USC was picked to finish seventh in the federation. Munday was the top assistant at Northwestern (2007-10) as the recruiting coordinator and offensive coach. Northwestern was 85-4 during her tenure and went 23-0 in 2009. The Wildcats won three NCAA titles (2007-09), and advanced to the championship game in 2010. At NU, she tutored several All-Americans, including Tewaaraton Trophy winners Kristen Kjellman and Hannah Nielsen. Regarded as one of the greatest players in NU history, Munday was a Tewaaraton Trophy semifinalist in 2005 and 2006. She finished her career as the program s alltime leader in assists (128), third in points (268), and fifth in goals (140). Munday also set single-season NU records for points (107) and assists (54) in 2005. The Wildcats were 64-12 and won the school s first-ever NCAA titles in the sport. Munday helped Northwestern become the first school outside the Eastern Time zone to win a national title and the first program to win consecutive NCAA championships. A two-time first team All-American (2005-06), All-Region, and All- American Lacrosse Conference selection, she also earned All-Region second team laurels in 2004. Munday received ALC All-Conference second-team notice in 2003 and 2004 and made the NCAA All-Tournament team in 2005. She received a bachelor s degree in communications from Northwestern in 2006. DENVER (7-3, 2-1 MPSF) has won five of its last six games. The lone loss was a 14-7 decision to Stanford. The Pioneers are the league s defending regular-season and tournament champions. TRACK THE TROJANS: Fans of USC women s lacrosse can follow the Trojans on Twitter and Instagram. For a behind-the-scenes look at the program, scores, and news updates, follow @USCTrojansLax. All of USC s non-televised home games at McAlister Field will be webcast on the USCTrojans.com Pac-12 Networks portal. LAST TIME OUT: The Trojans bounced back from a loss on the road to win, 13-11, at Oregon. The victory was significant as it was the Ducks who ended USC s season in 2014 with a 7-6 decision in the MPSF tournament quarterfinals. The Women of Troy got four goals each from attackers Michaela Michael and Cynthia Del Core. Amanda Johansen had three assists and scored a goal to go with five draw controls. In the goal, Gussie Johns turned away seven shots for saves and picked up a pair of ground balls. The Trojans improved to 4-0 in conference games. MPSF WEEKLY HONORS: The MPSF has honored Trojans for five weekly awards this season. As the offensive player of the week, junior midfielder Amanda Johansen received her first weekly honor (April 6) since she was named MPSF Rookie of the Week three times in 2013. Junior attacker Caroline de Lyra and senior defender Elizabeth Eddy received offensive and defensive player of the week honors on Feb. 9. Sophomore attacker Kylie Drexel was named for the offensive award and was joined by freshman goalie Gussie Johns who took home Rookie of the Week honors on March 16. POLL POSITION: On Feb. 9, 2015, USC received its first-ever votes in both the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women s Lacrosse Coaches Association) poll and the Inside Lacrosse media poll. Just outside the top-20 rankings, the Trojans were No. 22 (IWLCA) and No. 21 (Inside Lacrosse) respectively. Since that week, the Women of Troy have been intermittently featured on ballots to receive votes in subsequent pollings. In the first release of the NCAA s Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), USC was ranked No. 26 (April 6). EAST COAST BIAS: The Trojans made two trips to the East Coast this spring. In the first of the two, USC met No. 16 Stony Brook and Marist in the Empire State. The Women of Troy fell to the Seawolves, 7-4, but turned around to beat the Red Foxes, 11-7. In their second trip, the Trojans defeated Dartmouth, 9-7, and fell to No. 2 Boston College, 16-12. USC is 10-10 in road games during its first three seasons. The Trojans are 3-6 when they travel to the East Coast. TROJANS PICKED THIRD IN MPSF: A preseason poll of head coaches in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation had the Trojans in third place. USC trailed defending regular-season and tournament champion Denver, which received seven first-place votes to hold the top spot, and perennial conference power Stanford, which had the other three first-place ballots. It is the second year in a row that the coaches have tabbed USC third. The Trojans finished 2014 in a tie for third place. In the program s inaugural season, USC was selected to finish in seventh place, but exceeded expectations with a fourth-place finish.

Won 1 TOUGH SLEDDING: USC s schedule is as tough as they come. The Trojans will face five teams that were in the NCAA tournament last season. The Women of Troy started the season with Northwestern, which was a national semifinalist a year ago. Boston College (Mar. 30) was an NCAA quarterfinalist in 2014. Stony Brook (Feb. 21) and Denver (April 12) each advanced to the second round, and Stanford (April 19) made a first-round appearance. In addition, Marist has NCAA tournament experience, as does Dartmouth, which was the 2006 national runner-up. STATE YOUR CASE: The Trojans roster is made up of players from 10 different states. New Jersey leads the way with 10. Nine squadwomen come from New York while eight are from California. USC has two players from the state of Georgia and one each from Colorado, Connecticut, Minnesota, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington. The Trojans also have one player from Washington, D.C. IN CONTROL: Junior midfielder Amanda Johansen has amassed 190 draw controls in her career. She set the MPSF single-season record with 100 draw controls in 2013. Sophomore attacker Michaela Michael has followed Johansen closely and now has 114 in her career. She is the league s single-game record holder with 15 against Fresno State on Feb. 24, 2014. WELL GROUNDED: Junior defender Courtney Tarleton led the Trojans with 23 caused turnovers in 2014 and was second on the squad with 33 ground balls. Tarleton set a new USC single-game record with eight ground balls against Northwestern on April 26 during a historic game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. She is the program s career leader with 88 ground balls and 67 caused turnovers. ROCKIN ROOKIES: USC s incoming freshman class is ranked No. 5 by Inside Lacrosse. With just four incoming players, the Trojans struck hard on the recruiting trail and have brought in the country s No. 6-rated prospect in goalie Gussie Johns (Washington, D.C.) and the No. 8-ranked recruit in midfielder Lydia Sutton (Minnetonka, Minn.). Johns is considered the top-rated goalie in the class while Sutton is a member of the Canadian National Team. Johns and Sutton are joined by freshman midfielder Kelly Brown (Vienna, Va.) and attacker Alexis Kardias (Westfield, N.J.). This is the second recruiting class ranked in the top 10 for the Women of Troy. USC s 2014 freshmen were rated 10th-best by Inside Lacrosse. DOUBLE AGENT: Senior midfielder Elizabeth Eddy was also a four-time letterwinner on USC s women s soccer team. The Trojans leading scorer in 2013, she was selected on Jan. 17 by Sky Blue FC in the 2014 National Women s Soccer League draft as the 33rd overall pick. Eddy had six goals in her senior season and finished her soccer career with 16 goals and nine assists. She started 69 games out of her 76 appearances and scored three game-winning goals. She stands at No. 10 all-time in career goals scored, and earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention, 2010 Pac-10 All-Freshman Team, and 2013 Pac-12 Player of the Week. Eddy s father Park Eddy played water polo for USC and was a member of the U.S. national team. She is also the great granddaughter of Arnold Eddy, a head administrator for USC athletics in the 1930 s and 40 s. WHODDUNIT?: Junior defender Courtney Tarleton is the grand daughter of famed American suspense author Mary Higgins Clark. ANCHORS AWEIGH: Junior midfielder Jacky Hennegan aspires to become an engineer in the U.S. Navy and is currently an active member of USC s NROTC program. HOLLA FOR HORAN: Junior defender Carley Horan is a passionate advocate for health and a former member of the USC Peer Health Exchange program. She has served as a speaker to middle school girls about positive self-image through sport and has highlighted her message at USC Athletics Girls PLAY events. Horan hopes to instill valuable insight about self-worth and promote healthy lifestyles to youth in low-income neighborhoods and has helped serve as a service associate at USC s Fueling Station. Her goal is to become a registered dietician and inspire people to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit, on a daily basis. AMBASSADOR OF THE GAME: Sophomore attacker Caroline Cordrey helped organize a fastest lacrosse shot competition for her team in an effort to raise funds for local non-profit Fields of Growth. The organization runs a campaign that works to share the sport of lacrosse and sustain the Ugandan National Team. An ambassador of the sport both at home and abroad, Cordrey s efforts helped bring in more than $1,500 for the cause, the secondhighest amount by any university. At the front of the pack was Cordrey, who herself had raised $500, not to mention clocking in with a 68 miles-per-hour shot. 2015 Honors and Awards #3 Gussie Johns MPSF Rookie of the Week (Mar. 16) #7 Amanda Johansen MPSF Offensive Player of the Week (Apr. 6) #23 Kylie Drexel MPSF Offensive Player of the Week (Mar. 16) #25 Caroline de Lyra MPSF Offensive Player of the Week (Feb. 9) #27 Elizabeth Eddy MPSF Defensive Player of the Week (Feb. 9) SOMMI SMARTS: Senior captain Kaila Sommi was one of just 233 student-athletes from 79 different NCAA Division I schools to be chosen for the IWLCA s DI Academic Honor Roll. She is currently majoring in sociology and is also an avid fan of television crime dramas. LEGGY MY EGGY: Junior midfielder Alexandra Plastaras unique nickname was given to her as a baby. Born to a father with Greek roots, and a Korean mother, she was affectionately called Eggy by her mother. Eggy (sometimes spelled eggi ) means baby in Korean. TWIN KEYS: The USC roster has a pair of twins on it, but you would never be able to tell by looking. Glade and Shannon Nugent were born on Dec. 21, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Charles and Connie Nugent. The two Trojans are fraternal twins. The sophomores from Shawnee HS (Medford, N.J.) were pieces of USC s 2013 top 10 recruiting class.
