Georgia will face the Gamecocks on Friday night in the Ramsey Center before hosting LSU in the team s annual match at Stegeman Coliseum on Sunday. VERSUS SOUTH CAROLINA, LSU South Carolina: Georgia leads the Gamecocks 46-20 in the overall series, but has dropped the last two meetings. In last year s match, Amanda Dachs had a double-double of 11 digs and 10 kills while Elle McCord and Cassidy Anderson had 15 and 10 digs, respectively. Desiree McCray had nine blocks in that match, giving her 18 career blocks vs. USC. LSU: LSU holds the advantage in the series 34-21 over Georgia. No match comes easy between the Bulldogs and Tigers, as a match has gone to either four or five sets the last nine times, including last year s five-set thriller. The last sweep by a team was LSU s win in September 2010. In last year s match, Dachs, Megan Spencer and Maddie Lobenstein had double-digit kills while Anderson posted 21 digs, bumping her career total against the Tigers to 27 digs along with three aces. McCray has 12 kills and 13 blocks all-time vs. LSU while Spencer has 15 kills and three blocks. BULLDOGS CHANGING VENUES FOR LSU Usually the home of Georgia basketball, Stegeman Coliseum will serve as the home venue for volleyball on Sunday against LSU. Since 2012, the Bulldogs are 4-4 in Stegeman matches, as the last win came against No. 15 Kentucky in 2013. Georgia also hosted the Benson s Hospitality Invitational that same year, sweeping the field. Other SEC matches in Stegeman were against in-state rival Georgia Tech in 2012, Alabama and Florida in 2014, and the Wildcats again last season. Volleyball will also be the first Georgia team to play in Stegeman since its renovations this past offseason. MCCRAY TAKES ON HOMETOWN TEAM With Friday s game vs. South Carolina, McCray will get a chance to take on her hometown team, as the senior is originally from Columbia. Weather forced the game back to Athens, but it would have been McCray and the Bulldogs first return to the Palmetto State since the team s 3-0 win in October 2013. McCray is continuing to have a great career at the net, as she is sporting a team-best 19 blocks against SEC foes this season. The senior also hit the service line for the first time last weekend, notching her first career ace against Alabama while finishing the game against the Tide as well as Auburn with two service aces in each match, a team best for those games. DONOVAN HITS BEST MARK VS. ALABAMA Meghan Donovan continues to improve throughout her first year in Athens, as she hit a new personal best with 52 assists against Alabama. The St. Louis native guided Georgia to hitting.220 vs. the Tide and.234 against Auburn last weekend, the team s best hitting percentages in SEC action since last season s game against Alabama in November. Donovan s 52 assists topped the 46 she had in Georgia s comeback, five-set win at Boston College. Top Stat Leaders DESIREE MCCRAY - Ranked in top 10 of SEC in blocks per set - Has 19 blocks in SEC play, including 3 solo stops Record: 5-10, 0-4 Hit Pct:.192 Kills/Set: 12.2 Assists/Set: 11.2 Aces/Set: 1.1 Digs/Set: 14.6 Blocks/Set: 2.0 CASSIDY ANDERSON - Has 43 digs against SEC opponents - Totaled 16 digs versus Alabama - Third in SEC in digs per set MADDIE LOBENSTEIN - Posted 34 kills in SEC action, good for 2.43 per set - Led Bulldogs with 18 against the Tide

Volleyball is the ultimate team sport in which every moving part relies on the next. We have worked extensively on our relationships and trust off the court, and we have seen great improvements within the dimensions of the volleyball court because of this work. We are thrilled and excited to get the season started, and WE will be keeping our focus on ways to improve and stay united towards a vision that is greater than any one person on our roster. ---Lizzy Stemke Head Coach Coaching Highlights Year-by-Year Lizzy STEMKE Sixth Season Earned first win over in-state rival Georgia Tech in 2014 Guided Georgia to NCAA Tournament in 2013, first time since 2004 2013 s 22-10 record best for Georgia since 1994 Earned ranked win over Kentucky in 2013 Defeated LSU in 2012, first time Georgia won in Baton Rouge since 2001 Brittany Northcutt: All-SEC in 2013 Lauren Teknipp: CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2013 Jasmine Eatmon: SEC All-Freshman Team in 2012 The Stemke File Year Overall Conf. Notes (cont.) ANDERSON DIGGING HER WAY TO BEST SEASON With 43 digs in conference play, Anderson has put herself with over 630 career digs, as the junior now holds 636. Anderson is well on her way to surpassing last year s total of 289 digs. The Kentucky native currently has 243 digs, as she is third in the SEC with 4.05 digs per set. Anderson is also close to catching her service aces from last year. In 2015, she put up 31 aces while she is sporting 25 aces this year. BULLDOGS NON-CONFERENCE RECORD ONE OF ITS BEST STARTS Georgia got off to one of its best starts with a 12-1 non-conference record. The last time Georgia started at 12-1 or better was 1993 where the Bulldogs opened the year at 21-1. Only two other seasons had a better start than 12-1 in 1985 (16-1) and 1982 (25-0). Georgia also hit a landmark win with a win over Florida A&M, recording the program s 800th victory, as Georgia is now 803-514 in program history. BULLDOGS TOP FIVE IN SEC IN THREE STAT RANKINGS The Bulldogs continue to rank high in many SEC stats. After last weekend, Georgia sits at second with 1.50 aces per set and 14.82 digs per set. The team is also fifth with a.180 opponent hitting percentage. The Bulldogs are one of two teams in the SEC with two or more individuals ranked in the top 10 of the conference, as Anderson and Maddie Lobenstein are fourth and 10th, respectively. Auburn joins Georgia on that list. Georgia has led its opponent in digs in eight games, winning all of those, while it has held 11 of its 17 opponents to a hitting percentage below.200. ANDERSON NAMED CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK With a tremendous start to her junior, Anderson was named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after guiding Georgia to the Bulldog Invitational title, the first weekly honor of her career. Anderson once again led the Bulldog defense, notching 83 digs over four wins, helping Georgia to its best start since 1993. Anderson opened the week surpassing her career best with 29 digs against Florida A&M. The Kentucky native then earned her fourth all-tournament honor this season, as she had 54 digs and five aces at the Bulldog Invitational. She hit the 20-dig plateau for the third time this year against South Alabama, putting up 21 digs in the four-set win. SEC HONORS DONOVAN AS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK After leading the Georgia volleyball team to a perfect 3-0 record at the Beantown Challenge, setter Meghan Donovan was named the SEC Freshman of the Week. Donovan dished out 118 assists in the trio of games, guiding the Bulldog offense to a.312 hitting mark. Five of Georgia s main attackers hit over.260 for the weekend while the St. Louis, Missouri, native had 12 kills herself to go with 18 digs and eight blocks. Donovan helped the Bulldogs to a comeback, five-set win at Boston College en route to her first career double-double of 46 assists and 12 digs. ACADEMIC HONORS FOR VOLLEYBALL The Bulldogs were putting in work in the classroom as well last year. Four of this year s returners were named to the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll for having a 3.0 GPA or higher: Amanda Dachs, Kendall Kazor, Elle McCord and Megan Spencer. All six of the returning sophomores were also honored, as their 3.0 or higher GPA had them among the honorees of the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. SIX GAMES TO BE NATIONALLY TELEVISED Georgia volleyball will have six matches nationally televised during the 2016 season. Five of the 18 conference matches will be on the SEC Network, as Georgia s first televised match will come on September 21 when the Bulldogs travel to Kentucky. The SEC Network will broadcast one home and three road matches during the month of October, including the contests vs. South Carolina (Oct. 7), at Auburn (Oct. 12), at Florida (Oct. 23) and at Arkansas (Oct. 30). Ramsey Center will get its last chance to shine on national television when ESPNU comes to Athens and airs the match against Florida on November 2. OLYMPIC BULLDOGS Two former Bulldogs represented their home countries on the biggest international stage at the 2016 Olympics. Alexandra Oquendo (2002-05) played indoor volleyball for Puerto Rico while Britta Büthe (2007) took to the sand to represent Germany. With those two, Georgia has had three former players compete in the Summer Olympics, as Elizabeth Reid (2010-11) joined Great Britain in the 2012 London Games. UP NEXT Georgia takes on Auburn for the second time this season, traveling to The Plains for a SEC Network match on October 12. The team will then get some rest from competition with its next game not until October 21 against Texas A&M. Giving Back Elle McCord (left) is no stranger to hard work. Off the court, McCord gives back, actively involved in the community. The senior has served as a team rep on SAAC and helped with Special Olympic and Relay for Life events.
