!! 1st/ 2nd Grade 3rd Grade This is an intrductry prgram. Players are put n teams based n request, their schl r prximity t ther players. At this level caches simply wrk with the players n fundamental skills and t a lesser extent game play. Players will cmpete each Saturday mrning in a skills cmpetitin fllwed by a nn-scred regular game. Play is at 8 ft baskets. This is a transitin year where caches begin teaching the players the rules f the games. At this level caches nt nly cntinue t help develp skills, but game play training is invlved as well. Players will cmpete each Saturday mrning in a skills cmpetitin fllwed by a scred regular game. Games are structured t allw equal playing time and prvide structured breaks fr caches t mve players in and ut f the game. This level is primarily intended fr ur 3rd grade players. Hwever, ccasinally we will find secnd graders with the skills and abilities t mve int this mre cmpetitive prgram. This level prvides an pprtunity fr the mre advanced secnd graders t be evaluated n their skills and allwed t play if skills deemed adequate fr this higher level f play. Click here fr 2nd grade qualificatins Play is at 9 ft baskets.

! 4th/5th Grade 6th/ 7th, 8th/9th and 10th/ 11th/ 12th Grade s With the transitin year cmpleted, this next level becmes less n teaching f the rules and mre n further develpment f fundamental skills. Players will cmpete each Saturday mrning in a skills cmpetitin fllwed by a scred regular game. Games are structured t allw equal playing time and prvide structured breaks fr caches t mve players in and ut f the game. Play is at 10 ft baskets. At this pint, participatin is fr recreatinal purpses and skills are reinfrced and maintained with less effrt n develping new skills. Players will cmpete each Saturday mrning in a cmpetitive game that clsely fllws standard basketball rules. Play is at 10 ft baskets What are the fees? Csts differ depending n the games being played and the gym usage. Csts can be fund n the registratin frms. What if I miss the Registratin Deadline? We'll attempt t find an pening spt n a team fr yur child. There are n guarantees after the deadline has passed. Hwever, in anticipating that late registratins may cme in, all teams are frmed with at least ne pening n the rster.

What is the "Player Evaluatin"? Teams are frmed by drafting players at the 3rd thrugh 12th grade levels. In rder t have a fair draft fr all teams/caches, all players need t be evaluated n basic skills. The Player Evaluatin is a shrt (abut 2 hurs) sessin with players at similar grade levels where the team caches can watch everyne g thrugh the same drills. Players need nt prepare fr these drills; they are intended t prvide an entry level evaluatin nly. Once evaluatins are cmpleted the caches will gather and draft their teams based n the evaluatins. What is the 2nd grade skills assessment? We ffer advanced 2nd graders the pprtunity t play in the 3rd grade prgram t help transitin them frm a purely participatry prgram (1st/2nd grade) int a mre structured game play prgram. This prgram will fcus n teaching the players the rules f the game, allw them t learn against players that match their wn age and abilities, and better prepares them fr the next level f basketball thrugh increased emphasis n fundamental skill develpment. This prgram will be pen t any 2nd graders that meet specific requirements that validate their skills and abilities warrant invlvement in the mre cmpetitive prgram. These requirements will be psted n the Bys In Huse webpage fr review. Parents wh feel their sn's can meet these requirements will bring the players t a shrt evaluatin fr review. If cnfirmed, they will return n Saturday t be evaluated with the 3rd graders fr drafting and team placement in the 3rd grade league. If nt, they will remain in the 1st/2nd grade prgram.

Is attendance at the Player Evaluatin mandatry? Althugh nt mandatry, attendance by all players in grades 3rd thru 12th is highly recmmended if yu wish t see yur child's participatin in the In Huse prgram t be enjyable and rewarding. Missing the evaluatins can prevent caches frm making prper skill assessments f players and that can affect the draft and the quality f ur teams. If yu cannt attend the Player Evaluatin we d REQUIRE advance ntice as ur sessins are planned based n all preregistered players attending. Can yu tell me when the team will have practice? Unfrtunately, practice schedules are nt lcked dwn until caches are selected fr each prgram. Cmmunity Educatin facilitates ur gym schedules and will present RAYBA with available times just prir t the start f the seasn. Once caches are selected they will attend an rientatin where they receive details abut the upcming seasn, receive the equipment they will need and at then chse a practice time based n available times. All teams will practice ne night per week thrughut the seasn and scheduled Mnday thrugh Friday. Caches will select an available day and time that wrks best fr their schedule.! 1st/2nd grade 1 hur per week!! 3rd grade 1 hur per week!! 4th/5th grade 1 hur per week!! 6th/7th grade 1.5 hurs per! week! 8th/9th grade 1.5 hurs per week!

! 10th/11th/12th grade 1.5 hurs per week! When will I knw what night my child practices? Fr 1st/2nd grade yu will hear frm yur cach apprximately 1 week prir t the start f the seasn. Fr 3rd thrugh 12th grade yu will hear frm yur cach the weekend f the evaluatin and draft. We aplgize fr the shrt ntice but the gym space availability des nt allw fr mre advance ntice. The cach will select their practice frm available times M-F, 5 pm t 10 pm. Every attempt will be t use earlier times fr the yunger grades and later times fr lder grades. What if there is a cnflict between practice and anther event n my child's calendar? It is very difficult t try t schedule arund the ther varius activities n everyne's calendar. Our space is limited; which limits the available practice times which caches can chse. Hwever if the cnflict revlves arund religin classes, please ntify us ASAP and we'll try t find anther team which yur child can be placed. If anther team can nt be fund, yu will be refunded yur fees based n RAYBA's Refund Plicy. Can my sn be placed n a team with a neighbr r friend? Please nte n yur registratin frm yur request t be put n the same team as anther player. At the 1st/2nd grade we make every effrt t meet these requests as this is a nn-cmpetitive prgram. Hwever at the lder levels teams are frmed by a player draft. Caches will see yur ntes and it will be their

decisin whether t draft a player based n a request. At the upper levels there is n guarantee that requests will be hnred. When are the games played? Games are all played Saturday. Games will be played at Rgers Elementary, Rgers Middle Schl, Otseg Elementary, Hassan Elementary r Rgers High Schl. The first games are scheduled at 8:30 and cntinue thrugh the mrning and pssibly early afternn. Hwever, due t the schl district's limited gym facilities, teams may have their games shifted t the afternn. RAYBA makes every attempt t hld ur games in the mrnings.! What kind f games are played? 1st & 2nd grade games are nt scred and nly played fr develpment f fundamentals, experience and fun. This level will play n 8 ft baskets. 3rd Grade is a transitin prgram where players will be expsed t games rules alng with thers at their same grade level. Each team will cmpete in a skills cmpetitin where pints are awarded based n successful cmpletin f several fundamental skills. At the end f the year the team with the mst skill pints will be awarded trphies t each member f the team. The skills cmpetitin is fllwed by a regular basketball game. Results are tracked and used nly fr psitining f the team in the End f Year Turnament. This level will play n 9 ft baskets. 4th & 5th grade is similar t 3rd grade with skills cmpetitin and games but mre advanced instructin f the game f basketball. This level plays at 10 ft baskets. 6th & 7th, 8th & 9th and 10th-12th grades will play a regular basketball game nly. There will be n skills cmpetitin at this level and they will play at 10 ft baskets.

Are there any end f year activities? The 1st &2nd grade level ends with the last games f the seasn. The 3rd thru 12th grade teams will wrap up with an end f year turnament scheduled the weekend fllwing the last regular seasn games. The tp finishers in the turnament will be awarded individual medals t all team members. Depending n number f teams, medals may be awarded t 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Hw are teams chsen? At the 1st &2nd grade level, the players are randmly put n teams. The 3rd thru 12th grade level are asked t attend a shrt player evaluatin sessin where the caches have a chance t evaluate the players' skills. This ensures that caches can prperly draft a team fr the seasn and effrt t balance strength f teams. Attendance at this evaluatin is highly encuraged but nt mandatry. If yur child can nt attend the evaluatin yu must send us a nte describing his/her basketball experience and years f playing basketball. This infrmatin will help rank the players nt in attendance. Qualificatins fr Secnd Graders t play in the 3rd grade League Must have legal guardian cnsent Must be present at 3rd grade evaluatins Must have played 1st grade basketball with RAYBA r at least ne seasn with anther rganized league Must be able t dribble up and dwn the curt switching hands (right t left; left t right, etc.) Must be able t sht ht shts with prper frm (bank sht with accuracy)

Must be able t perfrm lay-up with prper frm f dminant hand (dribble, step, sht ff backbard) The 2nd grader's interested in participating at the 3rd grade level will require attending a shrt skills assessment. See website fr details n date, time and lcatin. Yu will be required t submit a check fr $10 (cst difference t play at the level verses 1st/2nd grade) with checks returned if player des nt qualify. If qualified, the 2nd grader will attend the 3rd grade player evaluatin. See the Bys In Huse page fr evaluatin schedules. The evaluating caches will make the final decisin n whether the 2 nd grader has met the requirements. The parent(s) have t accept this decisin and nt cnsider it as a negative, if they dn t make it. RAYBA wuld have the discretin t mve a 2nd grader back dwn t the 2 nd grade level prir t December 31st f the seasn r anytime prir t the end f the seasn at the request f the legal guardian (s) r Huse League Crdinatr. Pr s and Cns f mving up t the 3rd Grade League. Pr s Qualified 2 nd graders will be mre challenged and learn the structure f an fficiated game mre quickly, which will help imprve the verall quality f play thrughut RAYBA. 2 nd graders will develp mre rapidly playing against a strnger skill level then they wuld play against lesser skill levels. When a 2 nd grader dminates a game, they are mre likely t pick up bad habits. Playing against kids f their wn skill set will help eliminate bad habits and als increase the cncept f playing as a Team. By mving up the mre talented 2 nd graders, the teams in bth leagues shuld be mre equal in talent and skill sets. This will lead t verall better cmpetitin and participatin. The additin f 2 nd grade bys t the 3 rd grade level will ensure adequate number f bys t sustain a 3 rd grade develpmental level well int the future. Cn s

The 2 nd grader must realize they will nt be playing with their classmates which might take away sme f the fun and chesiveness they are lking fr when playing the game. Parents and kids need t realize befre trying ut, that by nt meeting the qualificatins that have been established, that it isn t a negative. They shuld view this as a psitive, and use the evaluatin as mtivatin t keep wrking hard n their skill set, which will help them in the lng run. Sme kids may becme very dwn n themselves if they aren t selected t mve up. Parents need t discuss this with their kids befre hand and make sure they understand that because they didn t make the 3 rd grade league, that is wasn t because they are bad players. They still have a lt f talent and skill, and can have a very fun year playing in the develpment league. The 3 rd grade level will be mre physical and cmpetitive and they need t be mentally prepared t deal with the bumps, bruises and nature f the game that may ccur. (Example wuld be when a referee makes an incrrect call; they need t deal with it and nt get upset r mad.)
