Production Guidelines 2016 THEATER INFORMATION HAIR & MAKEUP TIPS COSTUME REQUIRMENTS TECH SCHEDULE [DATE] [COMPANY NAME] [Company address]
Theater Information WHERE TO GO IN THE THEATER Dress Rehearsals Dancers should be dropped off back stage prior to rehearsal where they will remain until they are dismissed. Parents may sit in the theater. No parents are allowed back stage unless they are an official chaperone. Parents who have volunteered to work backstage need to be present during ALL rehearsals so they can learn the duties of the position they have chosen. It is mandatory that quick change volunteers attend the dress rehearsals. Dancers need to know who to go to for each of their changes and volunteers need to be familiar with each of the costumes that the dancers are changing into. Performance Parents bring their dancers with hair and make-up complete to the dressing room. Parents sign in their Level 3 and under dancers and take their seats in the theater or go to their volunteer post. Cameras are not allowed on stage or in the audience. DANCERS LEVEL 3 AND UNDER ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE DRESSING ROOM UNTIL SIGNED OUT BY A PARENT/GAURDIAN. DRESSING ROOMS Parents are NOT ALLOWED in the dressing room prior to any performance. Parents, family members, siblings, friends, etc. are NOT ALLOWED to loiter by the dressing rooms prior to or after any performance. There are girls of all ages changing and we must respect their privacy! DANCERS LEVEL 3 AND UNDER ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE DRESSING ROOM UNTIL SIGNED OUT BY A PARENT/GAURDIAN. MEALS LZPAC will allow us to bring meals into the dressing room next to the theater or the front lobby ONLY. Please follow the food guidelines set forth on the Tech Week Schedule. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. There is NO eating in costume! WHAT TO BRING Use a make-up box/caboodles type container. It is easier to organize and find things in a container than digging through a dance bag. This is what you put in the container: 1. Busy items (for younger children) crayons, coloring books, books, puzzle pages (nothing expensive that could get lost) 2. Drinks - water only 3. Snacks Please follow the guideline on the Tech Schedule. There is NO eating in costume! 4. Ballet shoes (everything else, tights, leotards, etc. should be on your dancers before they get there!) 5. Extra hairpins, pony tail holders, hairnets, brush and comb 6. Make-up (for touch ups), stage make-up should have been applied before coming to the theater. 7. Extra tights 8. Safety pins
Theater Information 9. Band-aids/bandages (for older girls) 10. Baby wipes (great for removing make-up and quick clean-up) 11. Clear nail polish (to fix runs in tights) 12. Pain reliever (Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, etc.) for older girls 13. Extra ribbons and a stitch kid for Pointe shoes LABEL EVERYTHING This means everything; your make-up case, shoes, clothing, accessories, busy items, water bottle, tights, leotards, etc. BE FLEXIBLE There are many details in putting together a performance- lighting, sound, dancers, costumes, injuries, mistakes you name it! It is not an exact schedule, and will take as long as it takes. It is all done for your children so that they look their best and enjoy themselves! ASK QUESTIONS Many of the veteran parents are more than happy to help you out with any questions. BACKSTAGE & ROOM MONITOR VOLUNTEERS IMPORTANT INFO Please be advised, if you are a volunteer who will be working backstage or as a room monitor, you are required to atten both technical and dress rehearsals to be sure you know exactly what your responsibility is AND so that the dancers know who they should go to for help with their costumes. If you cannot commit to both rehearsals, then please request to be moved into another volunteer position. IMPORTANT COSTUME INFORMATION Your dancer is NOT allowed to eat or play in costume. IYDT s costumes are a significant financial investment and should be treated as such. We also have several dancers with severe food allergies. If your dancer has a food allergy, please inform the volunteers who are supervising your dancer each day of the performances. As a general precaution, please refrain from sending your dancer in with any kind of nuts as a snack. Instead we ask that you provide healthy, nut free, snack items like pretzels, grapes, fish crackers, etc. ONLY water may be brought into the dressing rooms as a beverage for the dancers. DRESSING ROOM ASSIGNMENTS: (SUBJECT TO CHANGE- LOOK FOR SIGNS AT THE THEATER) Ballet 1-4, including boys, will use the Drama room (located just off the stage/dock area) All men will use the smaller, lower level dressing room (located below the stage) Ballet 5-9, including Suzanne, will use the large, lower level dressing room (located below the stage)
