Dear RECITAL PARTICIPANTS: We are super excited for our upcoming show! It is going to knock your socks off! Our dancers have been training so diligently to bring this special performance to the stage. To make sure that everyone is informed, has all of the information needed, understands how this whole process works, etc., we have included everything you will need to know in our YOU OUGHT to be on The COVER OF A MAGAZINE RECITAL PACKET. Please take the time to read through ALL of the information. Even if you have been in our shows before, some of our processes may have changed, so please make sure you read through all of our information! Please note, that ALL BALANCES FOR ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE PAID IN FULL IN ORDER FOR YOUR DANCER TO RECEIVE THEIR COSTUME, PARTICIPATE IN PHOTO WEEK, PARTICIPATE IN THE DRESS REHEARSAL AND RECITAL. We offer several options to ensure convenience for our families: 1. You may pay at the Front Desk. 2. You may check your account at any time through your Parent Portal online on our website at www.thedancewarehouse.org. 3. For your convenience, you may also pay your balance there as well. Parents, while we understand that this is a fun event for the children, it is also a learning experience for them as well. Part of the overall experience is understanding the expectations of a production and performance. This means being in the correct hair, makeup, the correct color and style tights, as well as following the directions given by the stage manager, etc. This is the culmination of their hard work and their education until the final curtain. I encourage your support in this continued process. Therefore, if dancers are not dressed (correct hair, make-up, hair piece, correct tights, correct shoes,) 100% for pictures, dress rehearsal, or the show, they will not be allowed to participate. Also, as stated previously, no balance of any kind on the family account may exist for the dancer to participate. All dancers who are a part of our show participate in the FINALE. The students have learned the dance for this in their classes, and further information about this is included within this packet. It is a fun way to end our show. Right after the Finale concludes, we do a brief Recognition Segment and then say Goodnight and Thank You to our amazing performers and families! PHOTO WEEK for THE DANCE WAREHOUSE SATURDAY, MAY 5 THURSDAY, MAY 10 It is that time of year when we get to put on our fun recital costumes, have our photos taken, and run an extra rehearsal in our costume! To ensure that our families are not having to make extra trips during an already very busy life, we schedule our photo times during the dancers class time. Dancers are asked to come completely dressed and ready for their photos, meaning hair, makeup, all costume pieces, proper tights, shoes, and accessories (per the list included in this newsletter). Teachers will call the dancers to class as. All classes will meet in one designated studio/area. They will then go in and have photos done (both group and solo), and then the class will move to another designated studio/area where they will rehearse their dance in full costume and hair/makeup. This allows dancers to see if costumes have issues, how they work with the choreography, etc. Dancers will be able to leave after they are finished running their pieces and their teacher has dismissed them. Please note that we will make every attempt to complete this process during the allotted class time. However, it is possible that the time may run a bit over. Please be patient with us. We will dismiss your dancer as soon as we are done with pictures and running their recital piece. Parents, please remain in the lobby during this time. There s a lot going on during this time, and it will be extremely helpful to have less people in the designated areas during this time! Photos will be available for purchase, and that information and the forms will be forthcoming as well.

No more worrying about family members getting their tickets on time, or having to get money to others for tickets! We have taken the struggle and worry out of securing your tickets for the show! See Dawnette for Balance Clear Slip. Report to Station B (located immediately next to Station A). Turn in Balance Clear Slip. Pick up Recital Packet (Finale T-Shirt, 2 Show Tickets,). Report to assigned Dressing Room and prepare for rehearsal. 3:45 PM Entire cast called to theatre house. (Including parents) 4:15 PM Finale Rehearsal 4:45 PM Run show from the top. 7:45 PM Daddy / Daughter Dance 8:30 PM AUDITORIUM CLEARED/ FACULTY PREPARE FOR FOLLOWING DAY PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT BE OPEN PRIOR TO 3:30 PM TO ALLOW US TO PREPARE THE DRESSING ROOMS, STAGE, ETC., FOR THE SHOW. WE ASK THAT YOU RESPECT OUR TIMELINE FOR THE SHOW. THANK YOU.

For those who do not get out of school until late afternoon, this schedule will most likely require an early dismissal. Please plan accordingly. You will need to check in at the front table in the SFMHS Theater. You ll then be directed to your dancers dressing room, where you will set up your area for costume changes during the recital. Once set and dressed, dancer and parent should be in seats in the theater BEFORE 4 pm so that we may begin on time with further instructions. At 4 pm important information will be further shared and we will then move into rehearsal for our finale. We will begin our Dress Rehearsal with the finale so that when your dancer is finished with their class pieces they may leave. They will perform their finale in their first dance costume BUT with their t-shirt over the costume. The finale costume is You Ought to be on the Cover of a Magazine Recital T-shirt and black booty shorts. For male dancers, you may wear black shorts or pants. Shorts may be solid black or TDW only. Once the finale is completed, we will run the show in program order. After your child has completed their rehearsal for all of their dances, you may pack your belongings and leave the rehearsal. Please clean your area before leaving the dressing room. SHOW DAY INFORMATION SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 2018 South Fort Myers High School 14020 Plantation Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33912 3:30 PM CALL TIME. Dressing rooms open for dancers. 4:30 PM Theatre house opens to the public for seating. 30 minute call. 5:00 PM CURTAIN.

The big day is here! It is time for your dancer to strut their stuff on the stage! Dancers must arrive dressed and ready in their first number with some type of jacket/cover up over their costume. They will use this cover up ANY TIME they are in the theater, even prior to the show starting. Dressing rooms will open at 3:30 pm. Dancers are to be dropped off at the dressing rooms. They must stay there for the entirety of the show. Please note that once checked into the dressing room, dancers will need to stay in the assigned dressing room. NO ONE will be allowed TO ENTER the theater from backstage. As a courtesy to our dancers, and for filming purposes, you will not be allowed to enter or exit while performances are in progress. We will have ushers at all doors to ensure this. PLEASE WAIT UNTIL THE TRANSITION BETWEEN NUMBERS TO MOVE. Because the show is being PROFESSIONALLY RECORDED, the SIDE DOORS will be inaccessible during dress rehearsal and performance day, to get to the dressing rooms. Following the show, parents and guardians MUST pick their dancer up from the dressing room. This show is going to be fantastic. Thank you for your attention to this schedule! HAIR & MAKEUP Hair for all girls: SAME FOR EVERYONE: dancer s right part and low bun. Neat with no flyaway hairs. (low bun means at the BOTTOM of the hair line) Hip Hop Classes: Ms. Abbie has addressed this under each class. If you are in Hip Hop AND other dances, you will need to do a hairstyle change during the show. Please be aware of this. Makeup is NOT required for AGES 6 AND UNDER, but is STRONGLY suggested, so that students do not looked washed out under the stage lights. For ages 7 and up, stage makeup is REQUIRED for photos, dress rehearsal, and the show. (Foundation, Powder, Eye shadow, liner, blush, eyelashes or mascara, lipstick and preferably false eyelashes) ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY (even studs please, for lighting and filming purposes). NO NAIL POLISH ON FINGERS OR TOES. Underwear is NOT to be worn under costumes. If a bra is to be worn, it must be of nude color with clear straps and must show as little as possible ALL BALLET STRINGS (TIES) SHOULD BE TIED AND TUCKED UNDER YOUR DANCERS SHOES. PLEASE DO NOT CUT THEM. ALL ELASTICS ON BALLET SHOES MUST BE SEWN. THEY MAY NOT BE TIED AT THE ANKLE! Class Parent/Dressing Room Volunteer Sheet We are in need of volunteers for the Dressing Rooms for the Dress Rehearsal and for the Recital. Since we do not allow parents to remain in the Dressing Rooms during the shows, we ask that for our classes of students ages 10 and under, we have 1 parent volunteer to be in charge of the class, while in the Dressing Room. USHER VOLUNTEER SHEET As always, we are also in need of Ushers for our show. There are two components to this job. The first part of this is taking tickets before the show. Upon start of the show, those agreeing to Usher would be stationed on the inside and outside of the doors to ensure filming of our show and the dancers are not interrupted or distracted while performing. Parents may make arrangements with their door partners to switch off in time for their child s dance number. This is also a great way to get community service for future projects!
