TRAINING Squad training will be conducted by FASC Coach, Kay Playforth, and will commence Monday 10th October 2017. The Coach will determine which squad swimmers are allocated to; Beginner/Intermediate or Advanced. Swimmers can choose to attend all sessions available to them or choose particular sessions that suit. To develop swimming strokes a core level of swimming fitness is required, so it is recommended swimmers attend the maximum number of sessions they can. Morning training will be conducted if there is sufficient interest; trainers must have a current Forbes Olympic Pool Season Pass to enable entry to the pool. There is a training levy of $80.00 per child for the season, regardless of how many training sessions swimmers attend. A Training Registration form is attached to this Information This must be completed and returned, with full cash payment, before attending. Please ensure your child/ren arrive and depart at their squad training session on time; squad groups will not be mixed. Swimmers must report directly to the Coach when they arrive for training. Whilst at training, swimmers are under the direction of the Coach and are expected to train when using the club training lanes; if they stop swimming and disrupt those who are training they will be removed from the pool. Swimmers who are removed from the pool before the end of the training session will remain under the supervision of the Coach, until collected by a parent/carer. Swimmers who are at the pool but do not indicate their intention to participate in a training session will not be the responsibility of the Coach. Training will commence Monday 10 October 2017: DAY TIME LEVEL Monday 6:00 am - 7:00 am All Monday 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm Beginner/Intermediate Monday 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm Advanced Tuesday 6:00 am - 7:00 am All Tuesday 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm Beginner/Intermediate Tuesday 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm Advanced Wednesday 6:00 am - 7:00 am All Wednesday 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm Beginner/Intermediate Wednesday 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm Advanced Forbes Amateur Swimming Club Inc.: Member Information Page 5

TIME TRIALS FASC Time Trials will be conducted on Thursday evenings at the Forbes Olympic Pool. The club caters for beginners with 15m, 25m and 33m distances through to 50m, 100m and 200m distances for more experienced swimmers. All swimmers must have paid their SNSW membership fees before they swim, to ensure they are covered by insurance. This is with the exception of participation in two Time Trial evenings, which is an option available to those considering becoming a member of NSW Swimming for the first time. The age of swimmers for all Time Trials is their age as at 1 October 2017. One parent/carer from each family is to attend whilst their child/ren are swimming at Time Trials. Swimmers will be called no more than twice by the Marshall. After this point, it will be assumed that the swimmer has withdrawn from the event. Swimmers must be unaccompanied in the water. Swimmers are unable to return to 15m, 25m or 33m distances once they swim a 50m distance in a particular event. Where practical, swimmers will be notified of stroke irregularities and a resulting disqualification may be issued. When a swimmer is disqualified, no points will be awarded for that swim. Similarly, no points will be awarded to a swimmer who false starts. During Time Trials the Learn to Swim pool will be closed to all FASC members; this will be enforced strictly to ensure efficiency when requesting swimmers to attend the marshalling area. Entries for Time Trials from visitors may be accepted at the discretion of the Race Secretary, conditional on SNSW membership. Time Trial entries: Entries can be made by completing an entry form and placing in the blue box in the pool entry foyer by 6:00 pm on the Wednesday afternoon prior to the time trials. Entry forms are available on the Events page of our website: http://forbes.swimming.org.au/page.php?id=7551 There will be no entries accepted on time trial nights. To assist in the smooth running of club nights, please do not complete entry cards for multiple weeks in advance. This often leads to many entered swimmers not turning up to races on club nights and delays the club racing schedule. As all entries need to be entered on the club s computerised event management system, this also creates unnecessary work. Races will commence at 6:00 pm. Should the time trial be cancelled for any reason, all entries for that cancelled time trial will need to be resubmitted. Point Score: Improvement points are awarded for club night events as follows: 7 points 2 seconds or more faster than best time 6 points 1.0-1.9 seconds faster than best time 5 points 0.1-0.9 seconds faster than best time 4 points first swim at distance or equal to best time 3 points 0.1-0.9 seconds slower than best time 2 points 1.0-1.9 seconds slower than best time 1 point 2 seconds or more slower than best time For the purpose of calculating points, best times are updated weekly. Swimmers who stroke incorrectly on Swimming Club nights may be informed of such verbally by an official club judge of stroke. This allows the swimmer the opportunity to work on correcting these flaws before Championship and school events where they may be disqualified. CARNIVALS FASC is affiliated with Mountains and Plains Swimming Association (MPS). Swimmers from clubs in the MPS region are invited to compete in a number of different events over three district championship meets during the summer season, a sprint meet (50m) held in summer and a winter short course meet. Swimmers who record good results at the district summer meets may be asked to represent MPS at the James Brophy Inter- District Invitational Meet held in Canberra in March. Further details can be found on the MPS web site at http://www.mountainsandplainsnsw.swimming.org.au/ There are many inter-club carnivals during the season; please see http://www.mountainsandplainsnsw.swimming.org.au/page.php?id=4478 for a list of dates of carnival s in the MPS district. Programs/entry forms for these will be posted on the club s website. All entries must be accompanied with the appropriate entry fee and given directly to Recorder Narelle Shaw, during a Time Trial evening, before the advertised closing date. Please contact Narelle Shaw relleshaw77@bigpond.com if you require clarification or further information. FASC will host our own district Qualifying Carnival on Sunday 26th November 2017. The committee would appreciate any assistance offered to conduct this Carnival. Please approach a committee member to volunteer to assist. Only give constructive criticism to swimmers. Actively discourage foul language or any unsporting behaviour. Remove from the squad any swimmers whose behaviour in not acceptable. Develop swimmer respect for rules and authority. Never let race disappointment cause loss of control. Realise that foul and abusive comments can lead to being removed from the pool area and being suspended from all meeting run under SNSW rules. Teach swimmers that an honest effort is as important as a win. Develop respect for competitor s talent and ability. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. F. CHILD PROTECTION FASC committee will ensure that requirements under Child Protection Legislation are met. We encourage all parents/carers to assist with the operation of Time Trials and Qualifying Carnivals, however if you are a parent or carer and have face-to-face contact with children as a volunteer, in a club providing services for children, you must complete a Working With Children Check. All volunteers at Time Trial evenings and Qualifying Carnivals will be requested to complete this declaration; once completed, their name will be added to a register of approved volunteers. Queries about Child Protection matters or allegations of reportable conduct are to be directed to our President, Sandra Phillips, at swimforbes@westserv.net.au.
