Report from Region 9 1st VP Jim Courtney Fall is coming! I promise! Even though it may not feel like it now. It s time to check out the Region 9 website for some great fall rallies! The following units have rallies scheduled for Sept-Oct 2014: Texas Plains Unit Texas Hill Country Unit Texas Highland Lakes Unit Texas Coastal Plains Unit Texas Alamo Unit North Texas Unit It looks like a lot of fun is in order for the fall. Let s get out and enjoy our Texas, Oklahoma, fall weather. In addition, there is a caravan! The Albuquerque Balloon Festival Caravan and Rally. The caravan, led by Harvey and Gail Craig of the Texas Highland Lakes Unit, is a 14 night, 15 day adventure departing from South Llano River State Park, Junction TX on Sunday, September 28 and ending on Sunday, October 12 at Bottomless Lake State Park, Roswell, NM. This caravan has 26 rigs including the leader. The caravan features six stops: 1 night at South Llano River State Park, 1 night at Balmorehea State Park, 2 nights at Carlsbad KOA Resort, 5 nights in Albuquerque at the Balloon Fiesta Site, 3 nights at Santa Fe Skies RV Resort in Sante Fe, and 2 nights at Bottomless Lake State Park in Roswell, NM. How good is that!! Sounds like great fun to me. Thank you Harvey and Gail. Region 9 rocks! It is not too early to start thinking about Airstream Hollywood! Let s support Andy and Barb at their rally March 23 29, 2015 in Montgomery, TX. Remember: Fun! Fellowship! Adventure! See you down the road. Jim Courtney Region 9 1 st VP

Medical Update on Jim Courtney Hi All, The doctors feel like the chemo treatment has made a significant reduction in my lymph nodes and are optimistic that it is doing its job. I finished round three last week and will start with radiation therapy in the next couple weeks. I am feeling great, and I am going to whip this thing, there is no doubt in my mind. I could not have received better care than I have been receiving here at MD Anderson. I have the best caregiver (Vic) in the whole wide world. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring support from all of YOU in Region 9. I feel the love. Please keep it coming, you are the BEST! I WILL WIN! Thank you again, Jim Courtney Texas Coastal Plains Unit members Jack Williams, Bill Miller, Lyle Snow and Bill Kindle show their support of Jim!! Nice look guys!

The WBCCI band featuring many Region 9 members! Opening Ceremony in Gillette! Miss Lillie leads the Texas Plains Unit parade entry to a Best of Show! Texas Coastal Plains Unit receives a First Place for their entry in the Fourth of July parade in Gillette! Mary Ellen Cribbs and Donna Scott, both from the North Texas Unit, perform a beautiful duet during the Sunday morning church service. David Thompson, Region 9 treasurer, proudly carried the Region 9 flag at the opening ceremonies.

International 1 st VP and Texas Hill Country Unit member, Jim Schwerdfeger, came back from dinner to find his Airstream flamingoed by Past Region Nine President, Linda Knezek! Guess those flamingoes followed you up to Gillette from the Flamingo Round-up in Mineola, Jim! Is that really John Boutwell with a giant can tab on his head? 900 pounds of tabs were collected this year in Gillette. The money from them went to Hospitality House Hospice Center in Gillette. Way to go Region 9! Once again we had the most rigs at the International Rally!
