Gulf States Conference Adventurer Family Fun Weekend April 27-29, 2018 The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker." Psalm 95:5-6 (NIV)

Ocean Explorers The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker." - Psalm 95:5-6 (NIV) Jesus created the earth and everything in it. He even created YOU! You are His special creation. He knew you before you were even born! He knew what you would look like, what color your hair would be, what color your eyes would be. He knows everything about you. He loves you so very much. He wants all people to know His love and that He is coming soon to take us to heaven to live with Him forever. Jesus teaches the world about His love through the beautiful things He created. Let's explore God s creativity expressed through His ocean creation! Theme Question: What does God s creation teach us about His love? General Study: Each Adventurer club will be responsible to study and learn everything they can about one living creature from the ocean. The ocean animal your club chooses should be studied throughout the year. It is a wonderful opportunity to teach your Adventurers about oceans. The following patches can be earned throughout the year, which will build upon our theme: 1. Bodies of Water Little Lambs 2. Fish Busy Bee 3. Sand Art Busy Bee 4. Whale Sunbeam This is only a suggestion, not a requirement. Sermons: The Adventurer Council has decided not to have the Adventurers give sermons this year, but encourages clubs to allow

their Adventurers to do sermonettes during their Adventurer Sabbath. Ocean Creatures: You may choose any one living thing from the ocean (i.e., coral reef, dolphin, seal, jellyfish, etc.). A whale may not be selected by a club as the Conference will be doing a whale display. Email the name of your ocean animal to the Youth Department AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Choices are first-come, first-serve. One ocean animal per club only. No club should repeat another club's ocean animal. Display Guidelines: 1. Animal: Display your ocean animal s name and a map of where your animal lives. Display photos of your animal. Your display should be interactive children learn more from handson activities. Include a touch box where they can feel the skin of an animal, or make an outline on the ground to show how big your animal is. The possibilities are endless. Be creative! 2. Display: You will need to bring your own display materials. Example of materials: Canopy or tent. Size: Nothing smaller than 10 x 10 feet. Parade Float: Each club should prepare a float representing the ocean creature they studied throughout the year. Include the theme name: Ocean Explorers. See Parade Float Guidelines for more information. We are looking forward to seeing all of you at Camp Alamisco. We are praying for all clubs as you prepare for this exciting event. We hope you will be greatly blessed by the programing. God bless you all! Pastor Todd & December Casey Mrs. Luisa Cortez & the Adventurer Council

(If you are a new club and don't have Class A uniforms, you can use Club T-shirts or any other clothing that will make your club look uniform.) EVENT GUIDELINES AWARDS: Directors, please make sure you have all your points correct with the conference office. **All trophies will be ordered by April 11 th.** Only Clubs that attend the Adventurer Fun Weekend will receive their trophies and awards. Every club can participate in the Club point award. Every Adventurer can apply for Adventurer of the Year. The Club of the Year award has been discontinued and is no longer available. Good Conduct Award: Only ONE award per Adventurer or member of club. Years of Service Pins: Directors, we would like to recognize your hard work and the work of your staff. Please send in an email and let us know how many years you and your staff have served or worked with Adventurer clubs. You will receive a Service Year pin in recognition. Adventurer Directors working on their Master Guide program can also be invested upon prior approval Sabbath morning. ACTIVITIES: We invite everyone to make sure that all Adventurers will have an opportunity to participate in every activity. Be courteous and kind to the children. Be mindful of others trying to complete their activity within the time given. Stay with the group and time selected for your Club. During the Activity/Craft instructions, please pay attention and be quiet so you and others can hear. Respect the volunteers helping with the event. They have been instructed in how to guide and help with the activity.

BIBLE STUDY/BAPTISM: Adventurer children that have had a bible study are welcome to be baptized during Adventurer Family Fun Weekend. Please let us know ahead of time. If you as a Director would like to do bible studies with your Adventurers, call the GSC Youth Department and we will send you an age appropriate free bible study. COOKING: If you are planning to cook your own food, make sure you notify the GSC Youth Department. We need to know how you will be preparing your food and where. Camp Alamisco does not allow cooking inside the rooms of the Lodge, Inn or Cabins. Please respect these regulations; they are for your own safety. Camp Alamisco and the GSC Youth Department will kindly ask that you leave the premises if you break any safety rule that puts in danger you, your club or anybody else. DIRECTORS: Please instruct your volunteers to help with your club during the activities. Keep your children together as a group as much as possible. If you are camping, make sure you get your camping site assignment when you stop at the gate registration tent. During registration, we will give you your meal armbands and room number/cabin assignment. Please specify in your registration if you do not want a family to share rooms. We will try to accommodate you and your group the best way possible and in the order applications are received. Feel free to call the Conference Office if you have any questions about the weekend or registration. DIRECTORS MEETING: Pastor Todd and Mrs. Luisa Cortez will have a short meeting with all the Adventurer Directors on Sabbath morning at 9-9:30 am in the Gym. This is to review and give instructions about Sabbath Day activities and programming.

PARADE: All clubs are requested to participate. Bring a float device and a flag to go in front of your Club Class A uniform. The Float device is to reflect the theme of this year: Ocean Explorers.
