The Broncos welcome No. 7 Denver, Illinois-Chicago and Seattle Pacific to Boise. DADS AND DAUGHTERS Friday s meet is a Dads and Daughters event, meaning that both Dads and Daughters recieve half-priced tickets at the door. The team will also be signing autographs after the meet. SERIES HISTORY The Broncos are 14-16-1 alltime against Denver. The Broncos won a dual meet last season at Taco Bell Arena, with a program-high score of 197.675. The Broncos previously lost to Denver in a quad meet earlier in the 2017 season at Utah. Denver currently sits one spot ahead of the Broncos in the weekly rankings, boasting a 196.800 season-high score last week vs. Air Force. Against Illinois-Chicago, the Broncos are 4-1-0 all-time against the Flames, and they have won the last four matchups, with the last meeting coming in a 2017 quad meet at Utah, along with Denver. (MT) // TACO BELL ARENA The Broncos are 52-9-0 alltime against Seattle Pacific, having won the last 34 matchups. The last time the two teams faced off was in a trimeet to open up the 2016 season. BRONCO CAPTAINS Seniors Sandra and Ann have been tabbed as team captains for the 2017-18 season. LAST TIME OUT The Broncos defeated MRGC foe Southern Utah 196.225 to 194.350 to open up the 2018 campaign with their program-best season-opening all-around team score. Junior Shani picked up where she left off in 2017, winning the all-around meet title with a score of 39.425 and the bars (9.875), beam (9.875) and floor (9.875) titles. For her efforts, was named MRGC Gymnast of the Week and MRGC Bars Specialist of the Week for her conferencehigh scores in the all-around and bars. RETURNERS The Broncos return a wealth of experience from a 2017 squad that brought home the program s thirdstraight MRGC title. The 11 returners are headlined by 2017 MRGC Gymnast of the Year Shani, who finished ninth individually in the first semifinal at the 2017 NCAA Women s Gymnastics Championships, setting the highest all-around score at nationals in Boise State history (39.3625). In addition to, the Broncos return six additional gymnasts that earned All-MRGC First Team honors in 2017, Sarah, Courtney, Mary Frances, Sandra, Alex and Abby. Overall the Broncos return seven of eight allconference honorees from last season. For the 11th-straight season the Broncos are under the direction of co-head coaches Tina d and Neil Resnick, the 2017 MRGC Coaches of the Year and the 2017 NACGC/W West Region Co-Head Coaches of the Year. NEWCOMERS The five newcomers will provide outstanding depth to the team and many are expected to contribute right away - Rachel (Roseville, Calif.), Gabriela (Rio Rico, Ariz.), Tatum (Peoria, Ariz.), Tessa (Reno, Nev.), Emily (Castle Rock, Colo.). BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK The Broncos are coming off their third-straight MRGC title in 2017, and advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the 10th-straight season. Other record-breaking moments from 2017 include; first time recording four team scores over 197 in a single season, with the highest team score in school history (197.675). A LOOK BACK AT 2017... The 2017 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference championship team The 18-2 record is the best winning percentage (.900) in program history. The 15-0 record at the end of the 2016 regular season was the first time a Boise State gymnastics team went undefeated in the regular season. Boise State was also the only team to accomplish the feat last season out of the 82 teams that occupy Divisions I, II and III. A PAIR OF OLYMPIANS... Isabella (Panama) and Courtney (New Zealand) and competed in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, marking the first time in school history that the gymnastics program was represented at the Olympic Games with either past or present gymnasts. finished 44th in the all-around with a 52.832 and was slightly ahead in 41st place thanks to a 53.165. s highest individual event score came on vault (13.900), and ended up taking 13th in the same event after scoring a 14.533, just five spots away from qualifying for the final. SUCCESS IN THE CLASSROOM... 2016-17 Academic Year MRGC All-Academic + Finished the 2016-17 academic year with a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.8593, giving them the secondhighest team GPA among women s gymnastics teams in the country according to the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W). + The No. 2 ranking is the second-best ranking in school history - coming up just shy of last year s No. 1 nod - but the team GPA is the highest in program history, beating out last year s 3.8087. + The Broncos saw 93 percent (14-of-15 gymnasts) of the 2016-17 roster earn individual NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors, giving them the No. 4 percentage in the country. + In 2017 all 15 Broncos on the women s gymnastics roster earned MRGC All-Academic honors. + Four gymnasts posted perfect 4.0 GPAs: Mary Frances (health science studies), Sandra (psychology), Courtney (health science studies) and Abby (biology). + In addition, six gymnasts recorded GPAs of 3.9 or better: Isabella (3.95, pre-medical), Mackenzie Bennion (3.96, criminal justice), Alex (3.92, health science studies), Diana Mejia (3.94, health science studies), Maddi (3.95, chemistry) and Ann (3.93, kinesiology).
