GENERAL RULES AND CONDITIONS 1 All competitions are Open. 2 Date of entry and special conditions are as stated in the Syllabus. 3 In all competitions, the decision of the adjudicators is final. 4 Competitors are required to be ready to appear when called. 5 Songs are to be sung without accompaniment, except in Competitions 49, 60, 61 and 113. 6 Solo singers may be asked to sing two verses only, or two verses with chorus. 7 In Competitions 29 40 and 45 competitors may sing as their own choice the National Mod Syllabus prescribed songs for these age groups. In Competitions 41 & 42 competitors should not choose songs prescribed for this year s National Mod. 8 Where songs are not prescribed, two copies (words and music) one with English translation, should accompany the entry. 9 Competitors are not allowed to consult books or music during competitions. Exceptionally, this rule does not apply to Instrumental Competitions. 10 In the INSTRUMENTAL section Beginners are competitors with less than two years playing experience. In Competitions 62 & 66 vice should be of up to one year experience only. 11 Competing in any of the piping competitions will automatically exclude a competitor taking part in chanter competitions. 12 prize will be awarded in any competition in which the standard of performance is adjudged to be unsatisfactory. 13 The number of prizes may be reduced to ONE in the case of any competition in which the number of competitors is less than FOUR. 14 Pendants will not be awarded more than once to any competitor, and may not be awarded in any year when fewer than THREE eligible singers perform. 15 All Cups and Shields are retained by the winners for one year and should be cleaned and returned to Furan not later than 24 th May annually. 16 Competitors in the Junior Section must be within the prescribed age group on 1 st October of the current year's National Mod. Any competitor over 18 years of age on the 1st October of the current year's National Mod is eligible for Senior Competitions, providing entry qualifications are met. 17 Rules and age groups in the Local Mod may differ from that of the Royal National Mod. Competitors should check with An Comunn if entering the National Mod. 18 The entry fees per competition are as follows: Solo 1.00 Duet 2.00 Group 5.00 Choir 5.00 and should accompany the completed entry form. The maximum amount per child shall be 3.00 Page 7
