Hunter Mountain Bike Association (HMBA) MONTHLY MEETING Date: 15/10/2018 Location: Club Macquarie Meeting Started at : 7.15 PM Chairman Present: Dallas Barham Steve Pryor, Andrew Hardy, Dean Kozlik, Coleen Kehoe, Rick Kehoe, John Philippa, Rohan Betts, Joel Davies, Josh Bridson 1. Registration of Members: The chairman confirmed that the numbers for a quorum had been reached. 2. Minutes of previous Meeting Acceptance of previous meeting minutes proposed by Dallas Barham and seconded by Rohan Betts, accepted by meeting. 4. Membership Club membership has now exceeded 328 (315 last month). Some statistics: 22% U18 (69), 18% Over 50 (56), 12% female (39), Youngest 8yrs, Oldest 70yrs. 5. Monthly racing reports XC Dungog. 60 Starters. Magic day out beautiful weather. The Race was well attended by under 18 s. Club donated $500 to Dungog Common Trust. XC Night Race at Glenrock on 21 st September 2018 Successful 40 competitors. XC - Next race day will be at Awaba on 21 st October 2018. DH Next Race is 21 st October 2018 at Awaba. Hunter Schools XCO Championships were held at Glenrock SRA on 21 st September 2018. Over 200 participants. HMBA assisted with timing, race plates, bunting and marshals. 5. Build days Next build day on 4 th November 2018. This is the start of the project funded by State Government. The first stage will be the Development Trail extension (plus a few little surprises). All riders are welcome at build days (kids too) besides shaping and maintaining the world class, unique trails, we eat sandwiches and tell jokes.

Correspondence Nil this week 8. Advocacy Kurri Kurri. Coleen Kehoe continuing liaison with The Precinct Stakeholders at Kurri Kurri. Port Stephens. Crown Lands Dept. head office has passed the application for Gan Gan on to the regional office in Maitland for assessment. Schools. Paula Gresham, Paul Monk and Jason English continue their involvement with coaching High school age kids at Glenrock. Hunter Schools XCO Championships were a great success. 200+ competed. Club has asked for an event report from Jason English. As reported last month Jason English proposed 3 schools National Cup races be added to next year s calendar, including one level 2 sprint event. All to be 2 day events incorporating Hunter Christian School club on day 1 for the Schools event and HMBA on day 2. MTBA Cost of $1,000 to be split $600 to HMBA and $400 to HCS. Other events to be Gravity Enduro and XCO. Latest MTBA calendar shows two events in June 2019 (schools at Glenrock on the Saturday and Tier 1 XC at Awaba on the Sunday. Jason is away at World Championships so will get clarification from him prior to or at the next meeting. Wallaroo. Michael Clarke continues advocacy for trails at Wallaroo. Training, rider development and coaching Discussion on setting up a page on the club website. All agreed. Voted that Josh be engaged to do this. Thanks Josh. Ride n Sweet was on again in the September school holidays but was rained out.
9. Adaptive MTB HMBA club member, Hank Duchateau has offered to loan the club 3 X Adaptive bikes. Andrew Hardy has had discussions with Lynch s Hub on the Newcastle Harbour foreshore and owner, Blake Forrester has agreed to garage the bikes. The bike will be available for hire from Lynch s via their booking system moderate fee to be split between Lynch s and HMBA. HMBA to use any money raised for bike maintenance and replacement. The bike will be available for use at Awaba also. Andrew Hardy is the contact. More details will be provided in coming months. General business. Lap counter Maintaining down for maintenance at present. Requires some adjustment. Rick to talk with Michael Clarke to get it up and running again Awaba Development P450 committee meeting was held 4 th October 2018. It was decided to complete the Road Works, Car Park Works and Development Trail extension in the first milestone period completed by January 31, 2019. Proposal from Engenicom engineers and KLJ Consulting for the provision of project execution plan was considered. Committee selected KLJ s proposal (Andrew Hardy did not vote due to conflict of interest declared). Financial information regarding the project is not available through meeting minutes. However, club members are entitled to view any club document, contract, charter, memorandum, etc, by appointment and arrangement with the club president. Gan Gan MTB Licence application for the use of Gan Gan Hill as an XC MTB Park is still with Crown Lands. Grants Submission for funding to have coaches trained is now in. The club is preparing a grant application for another set of toilets one will be an accessible toilet. Andrew H is running with this. Break the Boundary Adaptive Off-Road HMBA is signed up as a Club member of BTB for $160 per year. Individual membership of BTB is free Andrew encourages everyone to join to show support. Rocky Trail Entertainment Enduro being held at Awaba in November. Coleen to continue discussions with RTE. Volunteers Further discussion required. DH Bus account. Account with Thrifty to hire buses is not yet open. Tear Drop Banners Have arrived and are being garaged at Coleen s place (along with Rick!) Enduro trails Joel Davies continuing his efforts with the preparation of the Little falcon Rd section. You re a legend Joel.
Further Notices of Motion Call for motions from the floor. Investing Club funds Discussion regarding short term investment of club funds for the purpose of getting a better interest return than the normal bank account. All agreed to look into it further. Forestry Corp have donated some boxes of caps and buffs for give away at events Thanks Mike Hill. Trail Bike (moto) Lake Mac Council has received a petition from trail bike riders wanting a dedicated area to ride. Advertising Short discussion on the Club s advertising policy remains the same. The club does not advertise any events unless they are at Awaba or benefit the club. MTBA National Cup The Club has registered a Tier 1 XC event in June 2019. Discussion regarding a) Keeping the date 8 th June 2019 not decided requires further discussion. b) Changing from XC to Gravity Enduro not decided requires further discussion. Club events for 2019 and beyond Discussion on hosting HMBA events. All in favour. Further discussion required on what sort of events is required. Green Corridors to Cooranbong LMCC (Council) has proposed connecting Awaba MTB Park to Cooranbong via 3 potential Green Corridors and would like HMBA to assess the feasibility and report back. Feasibility to include cost to construct. Committee was asked if the idea had merit response was Yes. Date for inspection to be set. Club trailers Question was raised if we build two bike trailers with club funds for HMBA use as well as hire out to other clubs and venues. Rick and Dean to investigate costs. Further discussion required. Active Kids Program - Discussion on registering the club for the scheme all were in favour (except Dean who has fallen asleep). Risky to action. T-Shirts and Riding kit All happening again. Details will be provided on website and facebook. Next committee meeting 19th November 2018 Club Macquarie, Booragul. All welcome.
