(JUST AS YOU WOULD TRAVEL TO AN AWAY FOOTBALL GAME) WE WILL HAVE WATER HOSES TO HELP FILL WATER COOLERS, BOTTLES & WATER COWS EACH EVENING. PLEASE DO YOUR PART KEEPING YOUR TEAM HYDRATED THROUGHOUT EACH DAY OF CAMP.

Coaches, We are excited about having your team participate in the 2018 East Central Football Team Camp. The date for our camp will be Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9. This is a great opportunity for your team to compete against some of the top football teams in Missouri. This letter will provide a detailed list of what our football camp will include. This is the 13 th year that we have hosted our team camp. We continue to try and make this the best experience for you and your team. We listened to your ideas, visited with others who host camp and feel that this year will be our best ever. Please read it carefully and let me know if you have any questions. Scrimmages Each team will play 3 scrimmages per evening. Friday s scrimmages will be situational type scrimmages. Friday scrimmages will be in SHELLS and will be THUD tempo just as we did last year. Saturday s scrimmages will be normal jamboree style with two running clock halves. Saturday will be in FULL GEAR and LIVE tempo still playing smart football. Officials We are fortunate to have MSHSAA officials on Saturday for our team camp. There will be an entire crew for each game and it will be officiated like a jamboree. Dale and I will be meeting with the officials to let them know how the camp schedule will go. Please follow the format that we set. The officials will be working hard prior to camp to make sure that they are on the same page as us and this cannot be compromised by coaches wanting to do their own thing. Trainer There will be a certified athletic trainer from Mercy at each field. The trainer is here to provide care in case of injury. Insurance Each of your players will be insured from the time that our team camp starts until the end of our team camp. Our insurance policy covers serves as a supplemental policy to their own insurance. Nationwide Life Insurance Company/Special Risk Office from Columbus, Ohio provides insurance for the East Central Football Camp. Please contact Dale Gildehaus with any questions about our policy. Meals Each player and coach will be served a meal after the games are completed each evening. Please help supervise your team as they go through the line to get their food. Remind your players to put trash in trash cans. Shirts Each player and coach will receive a camp shirt.

Schedule (rain or shine) Your schedule will be the same, rain or shine. Friday Situations Friday evening will be a controlled situational scrimmage. We have done this before with positive feedback from coaches. We will try and get as many snaps as possible to ensure quality work by all teams. Please have your team wear SHELLS and we will be at THUD tempo for these situational periods. The situations will be scripted. Please see the attached script. If you would like the EXCEL version of the script so that you can type directly on it, please email me and I will send it to you. Saturday Jamboree There will be 2, 15-minute halves (running clock). There will be a 5-minute break between each half. The team that starts the first half on offense will start on defense to begin the second half. There are no timeouts and play is over after the 15-minute time period has expired. ** Varsity scrimmages should last no more than 30-minutes. We ask that you keep the game moving. Rotate from offense to defense quickly. The goal is to get quality reps to help your team. ** JV scrimmages should last no more than 20-minutes. During the JV scrimmages, your varsity team should be getting whatever water break or instruction that they need. ** We ask that you be aware of time and DO NOT take up a lot of time calling your offensive play in the huddle (if you huddle). JV Scrimmages After each of the varsity scrimmages each night, your JV team will have the opportunity to compete against the JV team that your varsity team just played. We ask that the assistant coaches from each team referee this game. This will give our officials a time to rest between each scrimmage. Each JV scrimmage should consist of 6 plays on offense and 6 plays on defense. You should get through this rotation at least 2-3 times each scrimmage depending on how quickly you get your run your plays. Scrimmage Rules Coaches should talk before each scrimmage to determine if the quarterback is live. There will be no blitzing unless both coaches agree to do so prior to each scrimmage. The goal of this camp is to improve as a team and stay injury free!

What we need from you $35 per player participating. Please pay in one payment check or cash. Please have your players pay you (or the school) and pay us with one check from your school or football (booster) account. We would prefer that your payment be received by Friday, June 1 st. I know that some of you cannot do this. Please let me know and we will make arrangements for payment on the first day of the camp. Checks can be made out to East Central Football Camp. Please DO NOT make the check to West High. This causes major problems. Numbers MUST be turned in by Friday, June 1 st! There are lots of things that need to be ordered that depend on numbers. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!. 2018 East Central Football Team Camp Coaches Meeting I. Welcome II. III. IV. Payment: Please make sure that we settle up on this. Checks are to be made payable to East Central Team Camp. Schedule: We will start a new scrimmage every 50-minutes. Please follow the schedule. After your varsity team runs their set number of plays your JV team can scrimmage. Your JV team will play 6 plays on offense and 6 plays on defense. Please make sure that your assistant coaches run this session as the officials will be taking a break at this time. We are all here to get better and improve. We are not here to win camp. Your team is a reflection of you as the head coach and your school. I want to coach my kids and expect no problems. We had a great camp last year and it pretty much just runs itself after we get started. V. Trainers & Water: There are water stations at each field. Make sure that your players stay hydrated. There are 2 trainers from Mercy at each site. They will be available for any injuries. VI. VII. VIII. Dinner: Please supervise your kids as they get dinner. We have volunteers that are helping us and I want them to come back the next night to help as well. Shirts: I have the number of shirts that you told me for your players and coaches. You will receive a box of shirts for your team and can distribute them at your convenience. Officials: We are very fortunate to have an entire officiating crew for all scrimmages. They are using this as a trainings session and have an observer from the NFL or Big 12 at each scrimmage. Please be respectful; it is camp! IX. Respect all facilities: Again, supervise your kids and where they are located. Ask them to clean up after themselves. X. Have fun.
