Anyone is quite capable of doing well and even winning in our system regardless of prior pageant experience. We will provide you with all the information and help you need. We are looking for a confident young lady who can proudly represent the Hispanic Heritage in all of its Glamour and Beauty. First time contestants make terrific contestants and can make wonderful winners! As they show their natural beauty Is Miss Hispanidad USA an "all beauty-pageant?" Definitely not! You are scored 30% on your Personal Introduction, 30% on Formal Wear Poise and Appearance, 30% on Communications Skills in an Interview, and 10% on Participating in a Community Involvement Project on Pageant. Do I have to be "beautiful," thin, or perfect in some other way? Miss Hispanidad USA, while glamorous events, are not at all like typical "all beauty" pageants. In fact, as you see above, a great part of the scoring in our pageant is based on communication and a healthy, confident contestant. Good communication and presentation skills, along with a healthy appearance are what we want to recognize and encourage. Braces, glasses, skin problems, varying heights, and many other conditions are all just part of being young. The judges are giving you scores based on where you are in life, just the way you are.

What you need to concentrate on is doing your best and remembering to be positive. SMILE and do the best with what you have and enjoy the process! If you can develop and apply this positive healthy attitude now, it will benefit you your whole life! Do I need to have a Speech or Presentation Yes you do need to create a personal presentation no longer than 30 seconds, this you can create yourself or the pageant office can recommend a professional who can compose it for you for a fee of $50. Do I have to get "coaching" or other formal training? The Miss Hispanidad Pageant will hold several practices which will help you, it is recommended that you practice at home and any type of additional training and or coaching will help you and your future as a whole. Everything that you need to know for the pageant will be taught to you on pageant weekend at the rehearsals. We do have various professionals who can guide you and we can recommend experts to assist you for an additional fee. What color does my formal dress have to be? You want to feel confident and special in your formal wear dress. The judges are looking for how you wear your dress. Is it age appropriate? Are you confident in what you have on? There is no specific color or style that is required for our program. Choose the color that looks best on you. You will know you have chosen the perfect dress, the right color and style when you put it on, feel confident, special and can't wait to wear it pageant weekend! Look for that dress that when you put it on you and your mom go "WOW" Are the personal interviews one-on-one? The Personal Interview competition will be conducted with a Panel of Judges and you have a total of 3 to 5 minutes. Your questions shall consist solely of topics such as Hispanic culture, family, education, hobbies, community involvement, and current local issues etc. In addition, you may be asked pageant related questions such as: What do you hope to gain from your participation in this pageant? Should you be selected the national (or state) winner, what do you anticipate "doing" with your title? Judging Process What are Judges looking for? Our judges will be selecting winners who are ready to basically walk off our stage and get on a plane to represent the Hispanic Community in the United States or in any International Pageant or event. Wardrobe, hair and make-up can be changed quickly, but we cannot help her firm and tone, lose weight, have confidence, or her stage skills in such a short amount of time. The judges will be looking for "the whole package"! Fraternizing with Judges, Pageant Sponsors (not contestants') and or tabulator, creates a conflict of interest and Contestants may be disqualified or points deducted from their scores INTERVIEW: Delegates will interview with our panel of Judges in a "Media Style" competition. You will be in front of the panel from which the contestants will answer questions from our Judges. An opening statement from the delegate is an option, but will be considered as part of her timed interview. Interview will last four minutes. Judges will be looking for: Poise, Speaking Skills (does she should demonstrate a complete knowledge of info on her bio & fact sheets)? Is she relaxed and confident, yet projects a friendly & approachable personality? Can she handle questions with intelligence and demonstrates an ability to think on her feet? Does she understand her platform and how will she promote it? What does she plan to do with the state title should she win the pageant? How will she promote the title and the pageant? A good interview should be a "conversation" as opposed to a Q&A session - we don't care how much State or National history she has, we care if she has strong convictions, if she is able to articulate her thoughts and feelings, and if she is someone who others can relate to and would be a good role model to others. Fraternizing with Judges, Pageant Sponsors (not contestants') and or tabulator, creates a conflict of interest and Contestants may be disqualified or points deducted from their scores Swimsuit We aren't looking for the "perfect body" but for the contestant who has a healthy body and the poise, presence & confidence to compete on-stage in a swimsuit! Look for an expressive, lively walk & general movement, as well as symmetry of form in the swimwear attire. All contestants will be wearing the pageant swimwear by the official sponsor. We do have comparison judging, and each delegate will be asked to come out once again so the judges may look at them and compare notes for scoring. Swimsuit MUST be age appropriate and there is to be NO Thongs or inappropriate or offensive swimwear Evening Gown Grace, poise, presence & style are deciding factors in this phase of competition. Cost of the gown should not be a factor. The gown can be changed before nationals; part of the prize package includes gift certificates for wardrobe. Take into consideration: Has she selected a gown that compliments her build, coloring & personality? 1. Is she wearing the gown, or is the gown wearing her? 2. Does she exude grace & style? You will score the delegate as soon as she completes modeling. On-Stage Q&A Delegate should possess the ability to express herself through verbal communication in front of a large audience. Does she answer the question decisively & promptly or does she repeat the question, stall for time or hedge on her answer? There is no right or wrong answer; it can be funny, entertaining or serious - depending on the nature of the question and the personality of the delegate. Additional factors to consider when scoring this segment should be her verbal skills, expression & ability to articulate her thoughts & deliver them with conviction and/or humor.

Is there a swimsuit competition? Yes, there is a swimsuit competition for Jr Teen, teen and Miss, Tiny Little Miss and Pre-Tenn wear Summer wear. We have the three required competitions. We aren't looking for the "perfect body" but for the contestant who has a healthy body and the poise, presence & confidence to compete on-stage in a swimsuit! Look for an expressive, lively walk & general movement, as well as symmetry of form in the swimwear attire. All contestants will be wearing the pageant swimwear by the official sponsor. We do NOT have comparison judging, and each delegate should be judged on how well she looks for her age! Do I have to purchase my own swimsuit of my choice? You will purchase the Sponsor Swimsuit at a reduced rate of $40. Which is to add for the contestants prizes? Swimsuit MUST be age appropriate and there is to be NO Thongs or inappropriate or offensive swimwear Will I be judged on Community Service? 10% of your total pageant score will come from Community Involvement. Earning the full 10% is EASY! Participate on Community services, or simply bring an unwrapped gift or toy which later can be donated to less fortunate children in behalf of the pageant and you will receive the full 10% toward your pageant score! Can my family and friends take posters, photos or cards to promote me at the various events? Yes your family can take any promotional posters and or material, as long as it does NOT interferes and or distract from the Pageant Production, filming and or Photography. ABSOLUTELY NO HORNS or anything that can distract the Contestants or judges Do I have to raise my sponsor fee, or can we just pay it? It is up to you. You can either raise your sponsor fee, or you can just pay it. Whichever works best for you and your family? Remember that the total contestant fee is $485. Which includes the registration, photo shoot, swimsuit, and opening number suit? Tickets and advertising are separate and entrance tickets to all events are separate to be paid by your guests. We will supply you with Sponsorship and Advertising letters to help you raise funds and guide you how to do fundraisers. I would like to be in the pageant but how do I get sponsors? The best place to begin is where your family does business. Examples are Cleaners, Insurance Companies, Banks, Doctors, Dentists, local stores, etc. Call ahead to make an appointment, and dress neatly when you visit them. Visiting potential sponsors is good practice for your interview. Most sponsors will want to ask you questions about the pageant. They receive recognition in your pageant program book and mentions from stage as the contestants are presented. What is a Sponsor Fee? The sponsor's fee can be from $500; $1,000. or $5,000 depending on their budget and it includes and can be divided up into payments if you request. The sponsor fee pays for the cost of producing the pageant, awards, trophies, choreographers, emcees, lighting, sound, staging, judges expenses, staff, florists, hotel ballroom rental, cash awards, printed materials, scholarships, office support and all of the many other things that go together to make our program stand heads above all the others. You may have as many or as few sponsors as you wish contributing to make up your total sponsor fee of $500. Or $1,000. Businesses, family, friends, or fundraising activities are all great ideas for raising your sponsor fee. Without exception, sponsor fees are non-refundable. Do I have to stay at the Hotel where the event is at? If we do it at a Hotel, You do not have to stay, however it is very convenient and you can take advantage of the Special Rates the Hotel Offers, as well as you have a room to store all your things eat, shower and relax. All Parking and Hotel fees are your responsibility and remember we are guest of the Hotel so we must abide by their rules and regulation, such as eating in assigned areas, no smoking, no loud or obscene noises Why do I have to take photos for the pageants if I already have some? In order to maintain an even image for all contestants we will coordinate a Special Photo Session which will also be videotaped and it has several purposes. The photos will be used for the Program book, to show the judges the day of the interview, for the Miss Photogenic contest and you can use them to create advertising for the program book.
