CCU s best record against a current CAA team is 2-4 against Towson. The Chants last win over a CAA member was against Elon (69-46 in the NIT Tip-Off) on Nov. 17, 2009 when the Phoenix were still a member of the Southern Conference. Coastal s Record vs. CAA Opponents College of Charleston 10-36 Drexel 0-0 Delaware 0-0 Elon 4-9 Hofstra 0-0 James Madison 0-1 Northeastern 0-0 Towson 2-4 UNC Wilmington 3-11 William & Mary 0-0 OVERALL 19-61 Trapps and Enanga Record -Highs Against Piedmont International Senior forward Michel Enanga and junior guard Ron Trapps each notched career-highs in the points category against Piedmont International. Enanga went 6-of-7 from the floor with a 3-pointer and three free throws to total 16 points. Trapps went 5-of-9, with each shot coming from 3-point range, and added two at the line for his 17 points. Lending The Helping Hand Redshirt sophomore Jaylen Shaw has had no problem sharing the basketball this season. He has created numerous open shot for his teammates and dished out 24 assists through four games. He had eight helpers each against Grace Bible and Piedmont International. His 24 assists ranks 18th in the NCAA, while his 6.0 per game average ranks 32nd. Nights A Plenty vs. Grace Bible Coastal Carolina s game against Grace Bible, which resulted in a 140-67 victory, was highlighted by 35 Chanticleer career-highs achieved among eight players. Highlighting the career-highs were Colton Ray-St. Cyr, Tristian Curtis and Ron Trapps totaling career-bests with 16, 14 and 13 points, respectively. Scoring their first points as Chanticleers were Aaron Law and Christian Adams, while Josh Colman grabbed his first collegiate rebounds. Also of note in the contest was that all five Coastal starters scored in double-figures for the first time since Jan. 17, 2012 at UNC Asheville. Badou s Boards Badou Diagne became the 50th player in Big South history with 600 rebounds in a career after posting 10 against Grace Bible (Nov. 18). He has an outside chance of joining the league s 1,000-point, 600-rebound and 100-blocked shot club, as his career totals include 783 points, 605 rebounds and 74 blocked shots. Meanwhile, teammate Michel Enanga reached 500 career rebounds with eight against Piedmont International (Nov. 21). Wilson 20 Away From 1,000 Junior Elijah Wilson is only 20 points shy of becoming just the 20th member of Coastal Carolina s 1,000 point club. Wilson has scored 980 points in his 72 career games for a 13.5 points per game average. At his current pace (13.5 ppg), Wilson will eclipse the 1,000 career points plateau on Nov. 28 at Campbell. Wilson played with Coastal s most recent 1,000-point scorer in 2015 graduate Warren Gillis. Wilson shared the court with Gillis (1,352 points) during both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. Wilson will need to score 372 more points to reach the CCU all-time top-10 career scoring list. At his current pace of 461 points per season, Wilson would finish his career with more than 1,800 points. WHAT IS A CHANTICLEER? Chanticleer (SHAWN-tuh-clear) gives Coastal Carolina one of the most unique nicknames in all of sports. Chanticleer comes from Chaucer s Canterbury Tales and came to Coastal Carolina when the University was a member of the University of South Carolina system. A Chanticleer is a rooster who rules the barnyard with cunning and wit. His competitiveness never wanes as he battles to the end, using his brains to come out on top every time. 3 CHANTICLEER BASKETBALL HISTORY Years of Basketball... 44 First of Basketball... 1964-65 All-Time Head Coaches... 6 All-Time Record... 605-589 (.506) [since 1974-75] Winning s... 17.500 s... 2 Losing s... 22 20+ Win s... 12 Record at HTC Center...42-11 (.792) BIG SOUTH GAMES ONLY Years of Big South Basketball... 30 First Big South... 1985-86 Won-Loss Record...236-200 (.541) Best Big South Finish... 1st (six times) Winning s... 13.500 s... 4 Losing s... 13 NATIONAL HONORS All-Americans... 7 CoSIDA Academic All-America... 2 BIG SOUTH HONORS First Team All-Big South... 29 Second Team All-Big South... 7 Big South Player of the Year... 9 Big South Defensive Player of the Year... Playing Against The Big Boys Since the 2010-11 season Coastal Carolina has played 14 contests against Power 5 Conference schools. Coastal is 5-9 in those contests with a pair of wins over both LSU and Clemson along with a win at Auburn. Coastal will continue its run of play against Power 5 Conference schools again this season as the Chanticleers welcome Auburn to Conway on Dec. 2 and travel to Wake Forest on Dec. 18. COASTAL VS. The Chanticleers garnered 301 total points and 10 of 31 first-place votes, but were edged out by High Point (320 total points and 17 first-place votes) as the league favorite by 19 points. Winthrop received three first-place votes and 281 total points to finish third in the poll followed by Radford (188 total points) and Gardner-Webb (187 total points). Longwood totaled 191 total points to finish sixth followed by UNC Asheville (164 total points), Charleston Southern (140 total points and one first-place vote), Presbyterian College (132 total points), Campbell (119 total points) and Liberty (42 total points) rounded out the poll. Just The Two of Us... Head coach Cliff Ellis became just the second coach in NCAA Division I history to win 100 or more games at four different institutions during the 2012-13 season. Coach Ellis has won 100 or more games at South Alabama (171), Clemson (177), Auburn (186) and Coastal Carolina (149). He joined Lefty Driesell who won 100 or more games at Davidson (176), Maryland (348), James Madison (159) and Georgia State (103). 6

... But Now He s The Only One Ellis separated himself from Driesell with a 68-56 victory over UNC Asheville on Feb. 3, 2015. The victory marked Ellis 150th as a Chanticleer and made him the only coach in NCAA Division I history to win 150-plus games at four different universities. Ellis in Elite Company Head coach Cliff Ellis is one of just 12 coaches in NCAA Division I history to lead four different programs in the NCAA Tournament (South Alabama, Clemson, Auburn and Coastal Carolina). Ellis joins: Steve Alford (Missouri State, Iowa, New Mexico, UCLA) John Beilein (Canisius, Richmond, West Virginia and Michigan) Lefty Driesell (Davidson, Maryland, James Madison and Georgia State) Larry Eustachy (Utah State, Iowa State, Southern Mississippi and Colorado State) Jim Harrick (Pepperdine, UCLA, Rhode Island and Georgia) Lon Kruger (Kansas State, Florida, Illinois, UNLV and Oklahoma State) Fran McCaffery (Lehigh, UNC Greensboro, Siena, Iowa) Tom Penders (Rhode Island, Texas, George Washington and Houston) Rick Pitino (Boston University, Providence, Kentucky and Louisville) Tubby Smith (Tulsa, Georgia, Kentucky and Minnesota) Eddie Sutton (Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State) Back-to-Back 20 Win s With its 81-57 win over Campbell on Feb. 19, 2015, Coastal Carolina secured a 20-win season for the second time in as many years. The 20-win season marked the 12th in program history and the fourth under the direction of head coach Cliff Ellis. Prior to Ellis arrival nine seasons ago, Coastal had managed only eight 20-win seasons in 32 years of hoops action. HTC Center - Home Sweet Home The 2015-16 campaign marks the fourth for the Coastal Carolina basketball at HTC Center. Since the building opened on Nov. 9, 2012, Coastal has rolled to a 43-11 (.792) overall record. Coastal s longest winning streak at the facility spanned 14 games -- including a 3-0 record in the 2014 Big South Tournament. Coastal started the streak on Feb. 8, 2014 before it ended on Jan. 17, 2015. The Chanticleers current home win streak sits at eight, including a perfect 3-0 record on their way to the 2015 Big South Tournament crown. Chanticleers Make Historic Foreign Tour To Cuba The Coastal Carolina University men s basketball team made history during the summer, becoming the first NCAA Division I basketball team to take a foreign tour to Cuba. NCAA rules allow for a foreign tour by an intercollegiate team once every four academic years. The Chanticleers, led by veteran head coach Cliff Ellis, were the first collegiate team to play basketball on the Caribbean island, facing the Cuban National Team in three games Aug. 8 to 10. Along with playing basketball on the island, the team and travel party experienced the culture and saw some of the sights of the nation, which has been essentially off limits to Americans since the United States and Cuban governments severed relations in January 1961. The Chanticleers lost all three exhibition games against the Cuban National Team by scores of 76-68, 96-72 and 93-86. The games did produce encouraging signs of things to come as guards Jaylen Shaw and Shivaughn Wiggins each averaged 16.5 points per game. DeCenzo announced on Sept. 1, 2015 that the CCU Chanticleers athletic programs will join the Sun Belt Conference effective July 1, 2016. The Sun Belt Conference, headquartered in New Orleans, La., was established in 1976 and began sponsoring football in 2001 as a member of the FBS. In addition to football, the Sun Belt Conference sponsors baseball, men s basketball, women s basketball, men s cross country, women s cross country, men s golf, women s golf, men s soccer, women s soccer, softball, men s indoor track & field, women s track & field, men s outdoor track & field, women s outdoor track & field, men s tennis, women s tennis and women s volleyball. The Sun Belt Conference has earned ties to seven bowl games since its football beginnings 15 years ago. No football conference in history has ever boasted as many bowl relationships in its first two decades of existence. A worthy football team in the Sun Belt can be in the national championship picture, and the league is a permanent part of the Group of Five that will send its highest-rated champion to a premier bowl game. CCU sports will begin competing in Sun Belt conference play as of July 1, 2016, with the exception of the football program, which will transition to its first year of full FBS status in 2018. During the transition, CCU will compete as a Sun Belt member in 2017 and have the opportunity to compete for the conference football championship, but will not be eligible to participate in the postseason. Coastal Carolina becomes the 12th member of the Sun Belt Conference, joining Appalachian State University, Georgia State University, Georgia Southern University, Troy University, University of South Alabama, Arkansas State University, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, University of Louisiana at Monroe, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of Texas at Arlington and Texas State University. 8
