! Welcome Team Captain! Teams Rock! Team fundraising is critical to our Race mission. Last year, 798 teams were registered and team fundraising represented 93% of total funds raised over $809,000! That money is essential to saving lives in our community. We are focusing our efforts this year on building our team relationships and working to recruit new team captains to start teams. If you are interested in helping us promote the importance of Race teams by sharing your personal Race experiences, through a written or personal (TV/Radio interviews) testimony, please e-mail Lynda Bell Anello, Marketing Director, at l.anello@ komencharlotte.org. What We Accomplished Together Through Race fundraising Komen Charlotte was able to award $1.1 million in community health grants which helped to fund: Serve 14,302 people in our 13 county service area surrounding Charlotte Provide 5,200 mammograms and diagnostic services Pay for 342 Lymphedema services. Your Support Makes An Impact! Every step you take and every dollar you raise brings us closer to a future without breast cancer. Thank you for taking that step with us to find a cure, we appreciate the difference you are making in our community. 1

How to Start A Team A team can be any size, but we encourage teams to have ten or more participants. Teams register under a common team name and commit to raising funds to support the Komen Charlotte mission. Any company, family, group of friends, community organization, school or faith group can form a team. Online team registration (team name and team members) ends at midnight on September 28, 2015. Create your team Start your team by registering online or sending in printed forms. We highly encourage online registration! Even if your team members register with paper forms, you must create your team name online. To sign up online, visit www.komencharlotte.org, and click Events tab, and then Race for the Cure in the drop down box. Returning team captains must create a team for the current year. Team names are not guaranteed, so the earlier you create the team the better your chances are of keeping the same name. If you have any questions about teams, please email teams@komencharlotte.org. Recruit people to join After you create your team, recruit members to join! All team members must be registered by midnight on September 28, 2015. Online registration is encouraged it costs less, it s green and it saves processing time! Work towards your team fundraising goal Funds raised by teams and individuals through Race for the Cure allow Komen Charlotte to give back to our community and help find a cure for breast cancer. That s why we need your team to raise as much money as it can! Team Captains are the number one reason why team members fundraise. Teams that raise $1,000 or more are eligible for a coveted spot in Teams Village, the place for teams to gather on Race Day! Read more on page 7. Pick up team packets Packets include important information such as race maps, shirts, bibs (paper race number), and other goodies. Team packets can be picked up before the Race or on Race day, but we strongly suggest that you pick up your team packets beforehand. If the team captain wants to pick up all team member packages, join us for the Team Pick Up Rally on Sept. 18 at the Komen Office. See page 4 for details. Monitor your team s progress After you set up your team page online, you can update your page with photos and stories as well as email your friends and family asking for their support. You can even track donor information and view registration and fundraising progress! 5

Book your next Paint it Forward event with Wine & Design and 25% of the proceeds will go toward your teams fundraising goal!
