SPOTTER POLICY IN REHEARSAL AREAS: 1) Senior Divisions - The Cheerleading Worlds WILL NOT be spotting all routines in the rehearsal areas. Senior Division teams may provide their own spotters in the rehearsal area or elect not to use spotters. The use of additional spotters is not mandatory and will be at the discretion of the Senior Division team coach or gym owner. USASF will have spotters available upon request in all rehearsal areas. 2) International Open Divisions - The Cheerleading Worlds WILL provide spotters in the rehearsal areas. It is not an option for a team competing in the International Open and International Open Coed Level 5 and Level 6 divisions. Definition of Additional Spotter: Individuals on the rehearsal floor provided as a safety precaution to spot certain elements of a routine. The additional spotters must be USASF Member Athletes or USASF Credentialed Coaches. The Worlds Final Packet 2018 Page 6

Additional Spotters Guidelines (Must be USASF Member Athletes or USASF Credentialed Coaches): 1) Should only be used during the stunt, pyramid, and/or basket toss sections. Additional spotters are provided for added safety and should stand at the back of the floor when not spotting those sections. 2) Should not touch, assist, or save skills being performed. Additional spotters should only be used to prevent a fall to the competition floor. Any touch, assist, or saved skill will be given a major fall deduction. 3) Should be dressed so that they are presentable, professional, and distinguishable from the performing athletes. Program provided additional spotters should not wear clothing similar to the performing team s uniform. 4) Should not dress or act in a manner that distracts from the athletes and their performance. 5) Should be at least 18 years old and familiar with spotting the skills of the performing team. Note: To provide the safest competitive environment, teams should not attempt skills beyond their ability level. Il. SPOTTER POLICY ON MAIN COMPETITION FLOORS: 1) The Cheerleading Worlds WILL provide spotters for all main competition floors for ALL divisions. All teams during this time MUST use the provided spotters on the main competition floor. 13) Appropriate Surfaces for Practicing and/or Warming Up (Cheer) - The safety of the athletes participating at Worlds is our number one priority. We feel it is important to remind all coaches of General Safety Rule #5 found in 2017-18 Cheer Safety Rules: 5. Athletes must practice and perform on an appropriate surface. Technical skills (stunts, pyramids, tosses or tumbling) may not be performed on concrete, asphalt, wet or uneven surfaces or surfaces with obstructions USASF Staff and Officials will be diligent at enforcing this rule in all areas of the event, including, but not limited to the areas of all on-property resorts, competition venues and surrounding areas. As a general guideline, coaches must be diligent in examining any area and/or surface which they may have their team use to practice any skills or routines in full. If a coach chooses to practice on a grass covered surface, they must make sure it is free of moisture and provides an even surface. Teams may not stunt or tumble on any unapproved surface. An overlay of carpeting over concrete does not constitute an appropriate surface. As a rule of thumb, the surface must have mats or be a perfectly flat, unobstructed, moisture free grass area. Any team found in violation of this guideline is subject to fines, penalties, deductions, disqualification, sanctions and/or membership revocation. If bringing a CD, we recommend you bring several copies in case the WDW sound systems have trouble reading your CD. Coaches will be escorted from the staging area to the music play area. We highly suggest that a coach plays the music and not a participant. All music played at World s must comply with applicable copyright laws. The Worlds Final Packet 2018 Page 8

It is not recommended that a smart phone be used for playing music, due to interference that may be caused during a routine. No cover may be on any MP3 player so that a jack may be easily inserted into the device. Please make sure that all devices have a head phone jack to connect to sound system and are fully charged, volume turned up and placed in airplane mode. If using a CD make sure it s unscratched so it doesn t skip. Please ensure that jacks are clean and free of any debris which may impact connectivity. You will need to acquire an adapter in advance if your player does not have a head phone jack. Music on CD must be labeled with the team name, division, team size, and be ready to play. One or several selections of music may be used. Due to greater room for technical error with some CDs you must have a back-up MP3 of your routine available. 9) Dance Worlds VIP & Coaches Hospitality Room Inside Dance Magazine is hosting a VIP & Coaches Hospitality Suite located in the Monterey 1-3 room in the Coronado Springs Resort Convention Center. Last year we had numerous complaints from the U.S. and mostly the International teams and coaches expressing how inappropriate it was for Event Producers and Choreographers soliciting their business and interfering with the focus of the Worlds athletes and coaches. This is just a reminder to all Event Producers and Choreographers that The Worlds is a neutral zone and solicitation is prohibited. The USASF once again asks for ALL to honor the "neutral zone" concept The 2018 Cheerleading and Dance Worlds. Violation will result in immediate restrictions to The Cheerleading and Dance Worlds event and accompanying activities. 3) Photography and Video Policy - Because we take the safety and security of our participants seriously, our policy is to protect your privacy and that of all participants. Audience use of telephoto lenses and video cameras, including video capable digital cameras/camera phones will not be allowed. Unauthorized users of such equipment will be escorted from our event. Only official press from newspapers, magazines, etc. will be allowed to shoot pictures during our event with professional equipment. All press requests will be taken seriously and a contract must be signed prior to clearance being given. We hope that you and your parents understand the seriousness of this issue and give us your full support. For press clearance, please email Lynn Singer at lsinger@usasf.net. 4) Action Moments Photography AMP will have FOUR Cameras on every Worlds stage. Teams competing in SL, IO-5, SSC, and SLC will be filmed. The Cheerleading Worlds Score Review Process POINT DEDUCTION / Legality Infractions/ RANGE REVIEW PROCESS FOR TRIALS, PRELIMS AND SEMIS Score sheets will be available approximately 15 minutes after your performance. Please pick up your score sheets immediately as the review process time frame begins once the score sheets are available, NOT when the coach picks them up. Each team will receive their score sheet packet immediately following their performance behind the judge s riser in each venue they performed in. Included in your score sheet packet will be your score sheet, point deduction and safety infractions, if any are called. Please take advantage of the viewing stations in each venue beside the score sheet pick table. Once you have reviewed your team s routine and scores and if you feel that your team was given a deduction that was not warranted, a difficulty score that is out of range or a legality infraction that is not accurate, please follow the following process: 1. Complete a Routine Review Form in HP behind the judge's riser. You have 20 MINUTES** following the release of your score sheets to do so. Please make sure the form is checked for each area separately. IE. Legality Infraction, Point Deduction, Scoring 2. Turn the form in at the Score Check area located in HP behind the judge's riser. 3. Your form will be reviewed by a Scoring Official. 4. If honored, you will receive a new set of score sheets reflecting the change, if denied, information will be noted in the bottom of the review form and a text will be sent when it is ready for pick up. Club Divisions: The ONLY things that can be reviewed are: Point Deduction, Legality Infractions and Scores that are not in the high range for difficulty in the following categories: Stunts, Pyramids, Tosses, Jumps, Running and Standing Tumbling. Scores that are in the high range are not up for review since the scoring is strictly on a comparative format. International Divisions: The ONLY things that can be reviewed are: Point Deduction, Legality Infractions and Scores that are not in the high range for difficulty in the following categories: Stunts, Pyramids, Tosses, Jumps, Running and Standing tumbling. Scores that are in the high range are not up for review since the scoring is strictly on a comparative format. Each performance will earn a score for that day s performance in relation to the other teams competing that day, within that division. Scores from each day will not be discussed in relation to any other day s scores and/or performances of other teams. You should expect scores from Pre-Lims, Semi Finals and Finals to be different as you are competing against different teams and/or against different performances with each day being it's own competition.
