First-year head coach Phil Cunningham is looking to make a mark on the Sun Belt Conference, after serving as an assistant coach for the last 18 years. The Trojans return a large group of talent from last season, including six seniors. Hunter Williams is the team s leading returning scorer, after finishing last season at 10.4 points per game. Williams also led the team in assists and assists-to-turnover ratio. Troy was dominant in its lone exhibition game this season, defeating Victory 105-68. Williams scored 23 points on the day, while Myers scored 19 on 8-of-11 shooting. Tevin Calhoun picked up a doubledouble with 16 points and 11 boards. The Trojans have never defeated Ole Miss, falling in all seven meetings. The last meeting came in 2010, as Troy traveled to Oxford, Miss., to face the Rebels in the National Invitational Tournament. Ole Miss finished second in the SEC during the regular season last year, but won the conference tournament. The Rebels return two starters, but will be without Marshall Henderson due to a team suspension. PROJECTED STARTERS 22 Tevin Calhoun Senior G Picked up a double-double against Victory, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds 33 Wes Hinton Senior F Scored six points and grabbed 10 boards against Victory For streamline stats and notes on all of the Trojans, flip to the last page for Troy s broadcast notes

Cunningham, the sixth head coach in program history, took over the job in March and will be making his Division I head coaching debut against Ole Miss. VETERAN LEADERSHIP The Trojans bring back a solid group of veterans this season, including six seniors. Hunter Williams is Troy s leading returning scorer at 10.4 points per game. He was a pre-season All-Sun Belt selection this year, following his first season in the league. Williams was also stellar as a ball handler, finishing third in the league in assist-toturnover ratio and first on the team in assists. SEC SHOWDOWN Troy has faced Ole Miss seven times in program history, losing all seven. The last meeting came following the 2010 regular season, as the Trojans met up with the Rebels in the National Invitational Tournament. Every meeting has taken place in Oxford, Miss. EXHIBITION SUCCESS Troy was dominant against Victory University in its lone exhibition game, on Tuesday, October 29. Hunter Williams led the team in scoring with 23 points on 9-of-19 shooting, while TroyTrojans.com @TroyMensHoops

2012-13 TROY MEN S BASKETBALL GAME NOTES PAGE 6 also picking up six helpers. Antoine Fresh Myers scored 19 points on the day, shooting 8-of-11, while Tevin Calhoun picked up a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. DOWN GOES MSU Troy knocked off Mississippi State to open up the 2012-13 season and the brand new Trojan Arena. It was the first win for the Trojans over the Bulldogs. Troy s 0-9 record against Mississippi State prior to the game were the most losses to any Division I opponent without winning a game. The Trojans opened up Trojan Arena in style, with 5,120 fans on hand to see the win. NEW ARENA, STILL RAINING THREES Tevin Calhoun hit four 3 s against Mississippi State, three in the first half. His four total 3-pointers were the most by a Trojan newcomer in the opening game of the season since Jonathan Lee had eight against Oakwood on November 24, 2003. The Trojans hit 10 3-pointers on the night, something they did 11 times last season. PROTECTING THE BALL Troy had a season-low five turnovers against Southeast Missouri. The Trojans also had just five turnovers in their win over Florida Atlantic in the first round of the Sun Belt Championships this season. Troy hadn t had five turnovers or fewer in a regular season game since November 29, 2010 against UAB. The Trojans finished the season averaging just 10.5 turnovers per game, seventh best in the country. TOP PERFORMANCES AT TROJAN ARENA Junior Hunter Williams scored 23 points against North Texas, the most points scored by a Trojan at Trojan Arena. Deonata Jethroe scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds, becoming the first Trojan with double-figure rebounds and the first Trojan with a double-double at Trojan Arena. PERFECT FROM THE FIELD Antoine Myers hit 6-of-6 shots from the field in Troy s second meeting with FAU. It was the first time in over three years that a Trojan hit at least six shots without missing one. The last Trojan to do so was Vernon Taylor, who went 7-of-7 against ULM on 12/31/09. D-FENCE The Trojans gave up just 16 points in the first half against Georgia State, a seasonlow for points allowed in a half. In fact, the Trojans hadn t allowed fewer than 20 points in over six years (11/12/06 against Loyola-New Orleans). Troy also held Arkansas State to just 18 points in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Troy hasn t held an opponent to 16 points or fewer in a half in at least last 14 seasons (records are incomplete prior to the 1999-2000 season). Williams also averaged 34.7 minutes per game, the third highest in the Sun Belt and the sixth most in Troy Division I history. He led the team in 3-pointers made with 62, averaging 1.9 per contest, the seventh best average in the Sun Belt. Williams was a great facilitator, averaging 3.3 assists per game, the fifth best mark in the conference. His 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio was third best in the Sun Belt. SUN BELT TOURNAMENT Troy won its first Sun Belt Conference Tournament game in three seasons, defeating Florida Atlantic, 81-79, in overtime in the first round. Emil Jones struggled for the first 39 minutes, scoring just seven points, but turned it on when it mattered the most, hitting two clutch free throws in the final seconds to force overtime, then scoring nine points in the extra frame. He scored or assisted on the Trojans final 13 points. Troy fought hard in its next game, but ran out of gas late, falling in overtime to Arkansas State. END OF AN ERA Former Troy head coach Don Maestri ended his illustrious career with the Trojans following the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. In 31 seasons with Troy, Maestri won 501 games, eight coach of the year honors, seven conference titles and three NCAA scoring titles. The court at Trojan Arena was dedicated in his honor on January, 10, 2013, prior to Troy s 64-55 win over ULM. STAYING BALANCED All five starters scored in double-figures against Utah Valley (12/8/12), led by Ray Chambers 17 points. It was the first time since February 4, 2010 that all five starters had scored in double figures, when the Trojans accomplished the feat against FIU. Troy saw all five starters go for at least 10 points twice during the 2009-10 season. CBE HALL OF FAME CLASSIC All four teams taking part in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic sub host games in Chattanooga lost their opening game of the tournament. Both Troy and Louisiana Tech fell to Texas A&M, while Chattanooga and Southeast Missouri were defeated by Kansas. Troy finished 2-1 at the sub-regional. Louisiana Tech won all three of its games, while Southeast Missouri went 1-2. Host Chattanooga did not win a game. TroyTrojans.com @TroyMensHoops
