Introduction: Fresher s inferno was held from the 1 st -3 rd of August. The following events were held in it: 1) Athletics 2) Badminton 3) Basketball 4) Chess 5) Phatta 6) Football 7) Lawn Tennis 8) Squash 9) Table Tennis 10) Volleyball 11) Powerlifting 12) Sports Quiz 13) Wall Climbing All the hall sports secretaries were consulted in a meeting and their recommendations were considered to shape the present format for fresher s inferno. As far as possible all events were conducted in a format where each hall had an independent team. The weightage for the fresher s inferno is 25% of the total for inferno. Major Highlights Increase in the number of events for girls. Sports like badminton, basketball, volleyball, athletics, chess, carrom board and football were sports which had huge turnouts. There were teams from GHT in sports quiz too. Football for girls was organized for the first time and was really appreciated. Sports quiz was organized in OAT and had a great response. Around 150 teams registered for the prelims and top 8 were selected for the finals. Power lifting record of Inferno was broken in the middleweight division. Wall climbing was organized for the 1 st time in Fresher's Inferno and was a successfull event Recommendations Pool structure should be decided well in advance of Fresher's Inferno to give pools enough time to scout players from different halls. PG participation should be improved. Equal distribution of PG's among various pools may be solution. Events for girls should be promoted. All events organized this year should be continued and events may be added too. Skating and Carrom may be added in the Fresher's Inferno. The current individual format for racket sports must be followed rather than team championship. 9 P a g e
