El Dorado Golf & Country Club 101 Shadyside El Dorado, AR 71730 Hooks & Slices April 2014 From the General Manager Dear Member, Spring is officially here! We are ready for some good weather finally. Special points of interest: From the General Manager Save the Date News From the Golf Shop Birthday Lunch Wine of the Month Member Appreciation Dinner Easter Egg Hunt & Brunch Wine Tasting Series Les Miserables The Family Corner Calendar As hard as we try to promote more usage of our Club facilities to generate income, I must confess, it is still the monthly dues income that keeps us financially sound. Private Clubs are in the dues "business". Surely, we all like to see our dining rooms filled with members at all times. Surely, we would like to double our rounds of golf played and triple our tennis and pool usage. All this can improve the ambiance of the Club and promote camaraderie among our members, which is why you joined in the first place. But financially, the benefits of increased usage can pale in comparison with a wide dues base. Therefore, I would like to respectfully suggest that each member make a personal commitment to introduce one new member to the Club in the next 2 months. Imagine what can be accomplished if we can attract 25, 50 or even 100 new members. While new members are of extreme importance to the Club, we can never underestimate the value of our current members. We need each and every one of you. It saddens and disturbs us when a member resigns. We feel that somehow we have failed that member and would like to understand how and why in order to avoid losing the next member. We encourage and sincerely appreciate your input, suggestions, and comments. We want to be an extension of your homes and provide the highest standards possible for your satisfaction. We are going to start off this month with the Membership Appreciation Buffet on Thursday the 3 rd. The theme is Italian and Chef David will be preparing a sumptuous selection of Italian delicacies. On the 10 th, we will offer a complimentary wine tasting sponsored by Timberlane Wine & Spirits from 6-7 pm. Easter Sunday buffet will be held on the 20 th followed by an Easter Egg Hunt. We have arranged for some pony rides and other fun surprises for the little ones. Please make your reservations early to help us plan better for this popular and heavily attended event. In coordination with the Art Center, we are offering a special dinner buffet using the old recipes from the SAAC lunches on April 24 th prior to Les Miserables. Finally, on Saturday the 26 th, we will offer our prime rib plate special for those attending the symphony that evening. Our Wine of the Month program has been very well received and continues in April with a Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand called New Harbor. Please read about all these and other events elsewhere in this newsletter for more details. When you have any kind of event, celebration, outing, or just a simple dinner, please think of your Club first. That does make a difference. Happy Easter! Woody
