Development Academy Mission Mission: The U.S. Soccer Development Academy is a program that provides education, resources and support to impact everyday club environments that will develop world-class players. Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007 to provide education, resources and support to impact everyday club environments that will develop worldclass players. The Academy is a partnership between U.S. Soccer and the top youth clubs around the country to provide the best youth players in the U.S. with an everyday environment designed to produce the next generation of world-class National Team players. The Academy s programming philosophy is based on increased training, less total games and more competitive and meaningful games. 3

USSF DA Initiatives Connects elite youth players, coaches, and referees with US Soccer educational resources Prioritize individual long-term player development More training and fewer games Less fatigue from overplaying too many games in a weekend Less injuries Follow International rules of competition Improved preparation for games Overall Improved game quality from mandated principles throughout the league Similar focus amongst clubs competing against Exposure to the highest level players in the Region Eliminates the need to win to play the best competition as in like MDL it is a club based league vs individual teams that must win to qualify 4

DA Program: General Information U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007 USSF - United States Soccer Federation YNT Youth National Team Each Academy Club has a Technical Advisor (TA) with USSF The TA for our Club is a current YNT Asst. Coach and the US Soccer Representative and National Team Coach for our region Assists with the Club evaluation and player identification for Youth National Teams and Training Centers Clubs are evaluated annually for continued acceptance in the Academy. This evaluation is partially based upon: Staffing and Leadership Club Philosophy (mission, vision, identity, style of play, etc.) Player Development History (National Teams and Professional) Operational - Facilities & Financials The focus of the Development Academy is on increased training with more meaningful and less total games 5

Post-DA Development Pathway *USYS & US Club The next few slides (27-29) may be quite overwhelming Most important to understand: CUP is involved in all competition platforms in the US that we will continue to utilize for each level player with focus on development, challenging environments, and to create pathways to reach their individual goals including specifically College and Professional Soccer. The next few slides deal with only around the DA. Don t need to read these to see what the DA program is all about. 26
