Dear Friend of UConn: Support UConn Athletics The UConn Club will hold its Annual Auction on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 9:30am to 11:30 am. The Auction will take place in the Exhibition Center of the XL Center in Hartford prior to the UConn Men s Basketball game against Marquette University. Founded in 1953 and comprised of nearly 5,500 alumni and friends of the University of Connecticut, the UConn Club s primary objective is to raise funds for scholarships which are awarded to student-athletes attending the University of Connecticut. Adhering to the University s mandate on self-sufficiency, the Division of Athletics works closely with The UConn Club (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) with the hope of one day providing scholarship opportunities to all eligible student-athletes. In this challenging economic environment your help is needed more than ever. The success of this event is tied to two basic issues donated items and volunteer help. Please consider donating a gift or service that could be part of the Auction and/or volunteering the day of the event. This event will generate favorable publicity for our donors, fans, and corporate contributors and all proceeds will be donated to The UConn Club General Athletic Scholarship Fund. There are many goods and services that are sought after at the Auction. We could especially use donations of weekend get-a-ways or the use of a vacation home for a week. One of our most popular auction items is a foursome of golf; if you are a member of a golf club, please consider donating a foursome. Electronics are also sought after, so if you know of a store that would be willing to donate an item, like a flat screen TV, or you are in a position to donate an item to the Auction yourself, we will certainly be grateful. Gift certificates, jewelry, small appliances, golf equipment, and tickets to sporting events are all valuable items that could be donated. If you can personally donate any item big or small ($100 minimum) please contact the University of Connecticut Athletic office at the number listed below. Volunteering your time for the day of the Auction would also be greatly appreciated. We need dozens of volunteers to help us on the day of the Auction. We would need your services for at least half a day between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm on the day of the Auction. We need help setting up the items on the Auction tables, working behind the tables to answer questions and checking that attendees follow the Auction rules. After the Auction we also need help checking out the successful bidders as well as people to retrieve the auction items for pick up. Please contact Rich Guandalini at 1-203-488-4322 or the Division of Athletics at the number listed below if you are interested in volunteering. On behalf of The UConn Club, we thank you for your consideration of this request. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the Athletic Development Office at 860-486-3863. Sincerely, The UConn Club Board of Directors University of Connecticut The UConn Club, Inc. 2111 Hillside Road, Unit 3078 Phone: (860) 486-3863 Fax: (860) 486-3251 UConnHuskies.com

May 6, 2009 Dear UConn Club Member: It is once again time to seek nominations for The UConn Club Board of Directors. The UConn Club Board of Directors consists of 24 people who serve a three year term. Each year eight (8) Directors are elected to serve a new three year term. The UConn Club is a 501 non-profit (c) (3) organization dedicated to raising money to help better the Athletic experience at the University of Connecticut. The UConn Club By-Laws read in part: 2.1 To unite the alumni and friends of The University of Connecticut who wish to express their interest in the University and desire to serve it through their particular interest in University of Connecticut athletics and generally to present The University of Connecticut in a most favorable light. 2.4 To provide financial opportunities for University of Connecticut student athletes who qualify academically for assistance in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations. 2.5 To carry on fund raising for the UConn Athletic Development Fund and The UConn Club and to provide for athletic facilities, capital improvements and to meet such other financial needs of athletics of The University of Connecticut deemed proper by The UConn Club and in consultation with the Athletic Director. As mentioned above our main purpose is to raise money for the Athletic Department through various fundraising ventures. Currently we have two main fundraising events. Our signature event is The UConn Club Annual Awards Dinner where we honor student-athletes; Directors are expected to sell ads to a for the dinner program handed out that night as well as attend the event. The second major fundraising event is our Annual Auction held in conjunction with a basketball game. Directors are expected to solicit gifts and work the day of the auction. Other fundraising events include a golf outing and sweepstakes which members would be expected to solicit foursomes for golf as well as tee sponsors and sell raffle/sweepstakes tickets. For additional information, please visit UConnHuskies.com under the Donors link, or at: http://www.uconnhuskies.com/uconnclub/. The Board meets approximately 10 times per year at locations primarily in the center of the state. Each meeting is held in the evening from approximately 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and often includes dinner. The Board has a variety of committees and all Directors are expected to serve on a committee.
